“…” Where was Asuka? Rei had been waiting for her to come pick her up for at least a half-hour by now, leaving her standing in a heavy mix of rain and snow.
It was only then that Rei noticed the girl sitting beside her… she had to have been here for as long as her, maybe longer.
“Would you… like to borrow my hoodie?”
Adina looked up in surprise as the woman next to her spoke. “Oh! Uh... No. It’s fine. I’m actually warmer than you’d think.” A Minccino curiously popped its head out from under her collar before snuggling back around its trainer’s neck.
“But thank you for the offer!” Adina let out a small chuckle. “Actually my mentor said that jackets are for cowards. I’m actually waiting for her right now! She’s a bit intense, but because of her, at least this weather isn’t anything I can’t handle!“ Clenching a fist, the girl was clearly the determined type.
This blog is still a bit of a work in progress, but is ready enough for interaction. So like or reblog if you would like to interact with this hella messed up boy! (This boy is a Pokemon OC with some fun surprises I hope to hit all y’alls with.)
@corespotlight from here
That was odd, Ryu didn’t expect many people to be out when it was cold at night. People sure were weird…
Someone else however, was having the time of his life despite the weather! The small Bagon would scamper about, screeching out loud as his small nub arms flailed about! Making his way towards the stranger before stopping and chirping, his large eyes observing her as he looked her over…then yapped at her for attention!
“Izanagi!” Ryu would scold! Running up and scooping the dragon up in his arms before bowing to the stranger. “I’m so sorry for him!”
Adina let a shiver run through her as she breathed in the cool night air. The sky was clear and the stars were struggling to shine their way through the light pollution. But some stars were still better than none at all.
It had been silent as Adina looked up at the stars. Her Blaziken was dutifully watching her, waiting for the order for them to go back inside, or for her to get tired. That was until the Bagon barreled around the corner towards her.
As the short Pokemon searched her, Adina could not help but to stare back in a state of curious fascination. Leaning forwards, she stretched out her hand to pat the Pokemon on the head, but before she had a chance, it was scooped up by what was presumably its trainer.
“Oh, no it’s perfectly fine!” Adina assured with a smile. “I’ve never seen a Pokemon like that before... It’s cute! What’s it called?”
Are you a Pokemon Generation 1 purist? Do you over-analyze every single line that a character says? Have you ever wondered what it would be like if Giovanni, Eighth Gym Leader of the Kanto region and leader of Team Rocket, became a Pokemon Professor instead of sending himself into a self-imposed exile where he frequently loses to children as his dignity, pride, and sanity are all slowly drained away until he is only a shadow of the man he once was? Do you not care about any of that and just want another version of Giovanni to roleplay with?
THEN THIS IS THE BLOG FOR YOU!

✞
Send ✞ for our muses to meet in an empty church.
As Adina tried to push the door open herself, it loudly scraped against the wooden floor. The sound was only enhanced and echoed throughout the empty nave of the church which was then followed by the distinct sound of metal scraping against wood as Adina tried to shuffle her (and her chair’s) way in.
She just wanted a peek inside. Nothing as dramatic as her entrance suggested. She didn’t even think anyone would be inside. So when Adina saw the woman among the pews, she couldn’t help but to furiously blush.
“Oh! Um… I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to disturb you. I’ll just… Go…” She turned to reverse the process.

Since I am apparently alive on here again (for now) give this post a like or reblog for a starter or something!
“She’s not here...” Adina muttered quietly to herself.
“What... Where do I go now...?” Nervously she looked around for a kind face (any face really) to help her.
Ia smiled at the child, bending down onto her knees to look the girl in the eyes, or more accurately, look up at Adina from her now lower height. “What makes you think it might not be enough? Is it because you don’t trust your Pokemon, or because you don’t trust yourself?”
She paused for a second, looking thoughtful, “I can work with anything you have, but can you.” Standing back up, and almost falling backwards from the weight of her gear, Ia corrected herself, and then looked Adina in the eyes, her own soft and caring. “If it comes down to it, I can be here for a while, so together you can learn to do more than just ‘win’.”
Though she had been determined to do whatever the older woman had in store for her a moment ago, what the woman said completely threw her off-guard “I...” She considered the woman’s question for a moment before responding. “Well... It’s definitely not that I don’t trust my Pokemon... So... Maybe...” But she couldn’t hold back her curiosity, “But Miss Ia... what do you mean ‘learn to do more than just ‘win?’’ Isn’t that the main point to Pokemon battling?” She was just innocently curious.
"Well of course not. Bias against psychics and all that. I have two on my team. We talk constantly. Go ahead, try it with Arthur. It works, trust me."
Noir sighed. [“You never talk to her. About anything. And she never talks to you. About anything.”]
"Pokemon are a lot smarter than people think! Psychics are practically on par with humans!"
Adina blinked again tilting her head to the side. “Bias against psychics...” She had heard of such a thing happening against some people, but had never experienced it firsthand. But as for psychic Pokemon... “People are biased against psychic Pokemon...? But they’re some of the most reliant, loving, and caring Pokemon out there...” She looked over to Aurthur with a hesitant look. “I know that Pokemon are smarter than people think, that they’re even on par with humans in some fields... But to me... It always felt like a different kind of intelligence... Maybe like... Intuition over analytical thinking? But even if I can talk to Arthur... What would we even talk about...?” She hesitated for a long moment before speaking again. “Really in a way... I like that he doesn’t talk back. Same with everyone else... Because Pokemon, unlike humans don’t need to ask... They just know, trust, and rely on their trainers without needing to know why, and if he could talk back...” She fell silent, unable to bring herself to say anything more.
Arthur held his head high, [“No. Not ever. About anything. Now if you don’t mind, my trainer needs me.”] With that, he turned towards Adina, who was looking up at him, a concerned look on her face.

She smiled at the young girl’s innocence. “Anything is enough to work with.if you care enough. Trust me on that, my Absol and I know enough about working with things we shouldn’t.” Chuckling softly, she put her uninjured arm on the child’s shoulder. “Pick those that you enjoy teaming up with. We can start there!”
Adina blinked. “Really...? Well... I tend to use my Blaziken and Gardevoir in battle the most... But I’d really like to use my Phanpy, Lapras, and Bellossom more often... But do you really think that’s enough to win?”
Pulling a Pokeball from her side, she began fiddling with it, nervous about what this stranger had in store for her. And yet at the same time, she was determined to give whatever she had planned her best shot.
Colm’s been silent all day today. He’d been keeping his distance for a while, and it was today that he sat again, at another park, keeping silent. Was he asleep? Was he in thought?
It was hard to tell, as he didn’t move an inch.
When she saw the stranger sit down she couldn’t help but stare. Was something wrong with him? As silently and inconspicuously as one could in a wheelchair, she rolled towards the man, which, as it would be, was not very inconspicuous at all.
Now directly behind the man, she couldn’t tell. Was the man asleep? She inched closer to him, trying to get a glimpse of his face. When that didn’t work she hesitantly opened her mouth. “Mister...?”
There went his smile. Slipping off into an easy frown. Idiot girl. ”So you’re basing your entire opinion of a person on official meetings in the public eye? And you expect them not to be kind Miss? To be anything but picture perfect for you: the audience? You expect them not to step forward to protect their investments? Or their friends investments? Hm, but it’s only ever just that isn’t it Miss. They always put it in the hands of a child in the end, don’t they?”
"It’s a child who has to step forever, pick up clues, unravel it all. They sit on their thrones and don’t even call public emergency Miss. You’re applauding wolves who offer up a lamb in their stead every time there is a problem. Who talk amongst themselves in crises and fall back on a child. Is that protection? Is that kindness?”
Adina looked at her lap, hesitating to speak. Was the man right? Was everything she knew about them, the Gym Leaders fabricated? "No..." she muttered mostly to herself, only partially aware of the fact that she had just spoken aloud. "No... That's not right!"
She turned her face to look back up to the man, conviction clear in her eyes. "Even if... Even if they are just acting friendly to their challengers to keep their public reputation clear... That doesn't mean that they don't still protect the people... And it isn't official meetings that I've spoken to them... They didn't have to offer me anything... They didn't have to accommodate me... But... Even so, they did. I’m only one challenger... I would understand if they couldn’t do it... By myself I could not ruin their reputation... But even still... They were willing to accommodate for me... If nothing else... They are good. At least to me. Even if it is only in my eyes... They are good! They are kind!” But somehow, even as she was speaking, she felt that her words would not reach him. Still, knowing this, she still had more to say. This man was wrong, she could feel it, but how could he convince him? Perhaps she couldn’t.
“And... And so what if they send in a kid? No one’s been hurt, right? And when the problem is beyond the Gym Leaders... Who else could they send in? If a child can solve the problem... If a child is the only one who can solve the problem... Who are you to say that they shouldn’t! And if that child is willing to do it... It is right to stop them?”
Pulling off the black fingerless glove on her right hand, she reached out to shake Adina’s hand. “Oh, I’m sorry, I totally forgot.” She put her left hand behind her head sheepishly. “Name’s Ia, don’t really have a last name I use. So, lets get started here! What pokemon do you have, um, Adina right?”
“Oh, uh... Yeah! My name's Adina!” she said, flustered, wondering how the woman knew her name. Did she already introduce herself and not realize it? Pushing the thought aside, Adina held out her own hand to shake, figuring that she must have mentioned her own name, some time before, and just forgot. “It's nice to meet you, Miss Ia...” As she shook her hand, however, she couldn't help but have a nagging feeling that she had seen this stranger's face before. But she couldn't quite tell from where.
Putting a finger to her chin, Adina tried to think of how to answer the woman. “Are you speaking just of Pokemon I have on me, or ones I have boxed too? Because on me I have... A Blaziken, Gardevoir, Stoutland, Minccino, Lapras, Gogoat, and... a Phanpy. If you're including my box, I also have a Bellossom, and a Togekiss... Is that enough for you to work with, ma'am?” She looked at the woman, a worried expression clear on her face.
Ia smiled shyly, “Yeah, I’d love to help out. Though you don’t need to do the ma’am business, I’m not that much older than you!”
Looking at her 4 pokeballs by her side, she looked skeptically at the girl for a second. “You don’t happen to have any dark or ice types do you?” She shrugged, ” Not many people do, they aren’t really the most common types out there. I just know the most about them.”
However, seeing Adina’s willingness to learn perked Ia up a bit. “That doesn’t mean I don’t know a ton about battling in general. So, where do you want to start?”
"Uh..." She thought through her small selection of Pokemon she had on hand. "I... I have a Lapras. That's ice-typed, right? Though she isn't really that strong... I wasn't really certain if I would be using her or not. Though, I suppose she would have an advantage against most flying types, right? But I don't really know where to begin." Still, she couldn't keep herself from smiling.
"I... I've just never actually gotten any formal training from anyone before." She was blushing. "It really is an honor to be getting your help I usually had to do this kind of stuff on my own at home." But looking back up to the woman, Adina tilted her head slightly to the side. "Uh... Ma'am... If you don't want me to be calling you... Well... That... What do you want me to call you? I don't believe you ever told me your name..."
Blink. “Adina. You have a Gardevoir. And you’ve never even had a conversation with him? You DO realize psychic pokemon can talk back, right? And thus translate for the rest of the team?” There was also reading body language and all that. It was totally possible to communicate with pokemon and get answers.
"Also the Lillipup never did win. Regina was particularly mean to it. Still not entirely happy with her about that, even if it did happen years ago."
[“At some point you can ask her.”] Noir was also paying attention to the other conversation too. [“Have you really never tried to speak with her?”]
It was Adina's turn to blink. "No. You do know that concept hasn't been proven, right? I don't think there has been any scientific study proving it. And even if Pokemon could communicate with humans, there is no guarantee that humans would be able to understand or interpret what they are trying to convey. The Ralts line has been studied and shown to have a sensitivity towards human emotions, but just because they can understand emotions doesn't mean that they can perfectly interpret human language, telepathically or otherwise. It never even occurred to me to try..."
["No,"] Arthur passively admitted. [I have not attempted to directly speak to her, telepathically or otherwise. But then again, I don't need to. What is it that I would need to ask, that she does not already understand? We understand one another perfectly fine without me needing to directly speaking to her. Trust me, if it was her present intention for me to perpetuate our species, I would know."]
"Oh? You know them personally Miss?" Was he frightening her? Goodness, ask a question, frighten a child. He shook his head, hands finding their way into his pockets. "You’re not one for controversial debate are you Miss? Or addressing problems at our door. Fact of the matter is it would take an idiot to miss the signs. League buildings going up in smoke and all. The work places of the Kalosian members? People have been trying to off them. Clear as crystal, but you seem like the type not to face reality so I’ll find myself someone willing to have an actual discussion."
After taking a moment to look away from the man, and better collecting herself, Adina tried to address the man again. "No..." Still, despite her efforts, her voice came out as only a little more than a mummer. "I don't know them personally... But I've talked to a lot of them from my region... And they're really kind... If someone really wants to get rid of them... That would be too bad." She took a peek at him from beneath her bangs, still scared to look him fully in the face. "I mean... They also protect those weaker then themselves... When the bad guys come to hurt others, the Gym Leaders are the ones who protect those who can't help themselves. So, I think... A lot of people would miss them... And besides... Without them, what do we have...? Who would replace them?"
