So since the reveal page of Maddie’s new design, I figure I can post this now.

The design for the All-New Madelyne Pryor.

Like with the Selene design, I didn’t entirely want to throw out what has come before. While the previous designs (namely the goblin queen one) have largely been very TnA’y, but in that there was a beauty in the simplistic  graphic nature of the costumes, and I wanted to keep a hint of that. But as I approached Maddie, the key words in my head that helped steer my vision was “executive bitch witch”. I wanted to evoke a sense of power in a simple and elegant costume, while also serving as a contrast to selene who was more detailed and fetish oriented. The jewels are also a throwback to the goblin queen costume. 

I also love having hair cover one eye.

note: i also wanted to mention this is one of my top 3 fav designs I’ve ever done.

In honour of Halloween-some horrifying Alpha Flight! Alpha Flight 122-124 Yup, it was that time Witchfire turned all goat-legged evil and took over Dept H. This is where we learn the demon/X-Men foe Belasco is her father. He manipulates her already growing anger issues and power levels, to the point where she becomes a demon and sets about torturing and corrupting her teammates. Luckily Wyre and Manikin save the day, helping her reconnect with her humanity.  These were the first Alpha Flight issues I ever bought. My older brother read it and sometimes I would sneak into his comic collection. I wasn’t familiar with the Beta Flight kids but had always loved Heather and Northstar. This story arc, even though it was tied up in Infinity Crusade, was always one of my favourites as a kid.
