Why sun sign astrology doesn’t work
Let’s face it: a lot of the time, you won’t relate to your sun sign.
Your sun sign is who you are at your BEST. It’s who you are when you’re in your element, when you’re confident, when you’re in a comfortable situation.
Your sun sign is your identity, but also who you aspire to be. When you think of your sun sign, you think of the qualities that make you special, and make you an individual. It’s probably something you’re proud of. But also, it’s something to live up to; it’s a goal to be the best version of your sun sign that you can possibly be.
The sun sign is extremely important, because it follows you throughout your life in all ways, but it often can’t be pinpointed to specifics like the other placements can. It’s much more broad; it’s always present, but sometimes it’s just out of reach.
People will not always see your sun sign when they first meet you. But close friends will see your sun sign more than anything else, because they see the best in you.
Your RISING sign is who you are all the time, without thinking about it. It’s natural.
Any time you feel threatened, need to put up a front, want to “appear” a certain way…that is your rising sign. Many people don’t consider the rising sign as important as the sun. But in reality, it’s more important.
Some people aren’t even aware of their rising sign. Some people will be surprised when they read the description. But if you ask anyone around you, they will see it immediately. You can’t hide your rising sign, you have to just accept it.
If you meet someone for the first time, that is their rising sign.
Your moon sign won’t be seen by the world at first either, but a lot of times it can be seen more than the sun sign. Your moon sign is your instinctual reactions and ways of living.
Any time you’re upset, you’re happy, you’re jealous, you’re disappointed…these are all times that your moon sign will show. Depending on the sign, of course, it will show in different ways.
Anything to do with the emotions cannot be defined by the sun sign. That is the realm of the moon sign. People wonder why they don’t relate to their sun sign on a lot of different posts - this is why. The moon sign is far more important, because it is your immediate needs and behavior.
People who see through you see your moon sign; people who are able to connect with you emotionally. They have to look deeply enough to get through the wall put up by the rising sign, though.
Mercury is how you get your message across. When you meet someone, there’s a bit of mercury thrown in there too, since they’ll be communicating with you.
Sometimes people will not consider you to be a lot like your sun sign. That’s probably because your mercury is in a different sign than your sun. It’s a bit conflicting, because the words you say are quite different from who you actually are - you might seem more like your mercury sign in some ways.
Mercury is probably the least appreciated and noticed placement in astrology. People always seem to forget about it, but it’s absolutely vital to understanding someone’s personality.
“What is an *insert sign here* like in love?” This is the question that everyone wants to know. Unfortunately, people usually answer it with sun sign. Again.
Venus is your true “love” placement. You might get a sense of what someone is like with their sun sign, but in a relationship you might be surprised when they act so differently. Their idea of romance might be drastically different from their central identity.
Mars is where to look if you want to get an idea of the overall energy someone gives off. Rising sign has a part in this too, but mars is how someone takes action.
Mars, in a sense, is also related to love because it’s how someone does the pursuing. Mars has to do with initiative (and how much of that you take).
Next time you make an astrology post, read an astrology post, or think about astrology in any way, remember this. Most people don’t do their research, and make assumptions that all sun signs are a certain way, and all people will relate to all aspects of their sun sign. This is not the case.
Think to yourself: is this asking about me on a daily basis? My emotions? How I communicate? How I act in love? My impulses?
Chances are, it’s not your sun sign.
This is the only post I have EVER seen that actually makes sense of my natal chart. Nothing else has come closer to getting me to believe in astrology.
What would your top ten books on spirit work and/or astral travel be? If they have changed at all since your last post
I’ve been staying with Grave Robyn, a necromancer the last few days and she graciously allowed me to look through her private library. She recommended some of the same books as well as some new to me classics:
1) Communing with Spirits by Martin Coleman
2) Dreamtime by Hans Duerr trans Felicitas Hoodman
3) The Tradition of Household Spirits by Claude Lecouteux
4) Demons and Spirits of the Land by Lecouteux
5) Ecstasies: Deciphering the Witches Sabbath by Carlo Ginzburg
6) Night Battles by Carlo Ginzburg
7) Cunning Folk and Familiar Spirits by Emma Wilby
8) Visions of Isobel Gowdie by Emma Wilby
Again we both struggled to identify 10 full books on spirit work and only one if the above is targeted towards practitioners. There is little to nothing out there instructional. With the warning that it is mostly excerpts of Carlo Ginburg and Emma Wilby with very little original material she mentioned:
9) Deed without a Name by Lee Morgan.
My suggestion is to get 1 & 9 and then follow up with the rest later if you can stand dry history texts and can weed out outdated theories yourself. I speak with spirit workers a lot, and ten recommended books is a tall order.
If you can stand reading difficult obscure Grimoires and have money to buy fancy books or are willing to steal pirated books, I can suggest Azoetia by Andrew Chumbley and Lux Haeresis by Daniel Schulke. I like some Austin Osman Spare, especially The Witches Sabbath. I like La Sorceiere by Jules Michelet. I also like some if the fairy faith stuff by Orion Foxwood and RJ Stewart
Practically you just need taught. Reading only goes so far. You either need a spirit teacher or in person teacher and a regular practice. If you have a spiritualist church nearby check it out for free education, but you have to put aside pickiness and entitlement to learn rare topics. You might get love and light, or deal with Christian ideas, or New Age fluff to learn a skill. Otherwise find a witch teacher to apprentice with or pay for a workshop with a respected pagan or new age mystic. Once you have the skill you can apply it however you want.

A little Sachet Spell specially made for our patreon Bea!
You just need to put the above ingredients in a cloth pocket with a little note with your intention, and a little sigil too if you want.
Bring it with you or leave or it in your altar near something that you always use or under your pillow the day before doing something that you are specially nervous about.
You can change the words to fit your special intention and the sigil too, the one in the picture is for your true personality to shine.
A quick spell for social anxiety for one of our patreons!!
Tarot Tip:
Store your tarot decks with your incense.
listen. fam. You will never regret it. Your decks will always smell nice and always feel refreshed. You know what it’s like to read with cards that smell like jasmine and sage??? It’s amazing. I really, really recommend you try it.
@miss-vivie oooo I recommend writing down every reading you do/the cards you get and maybe in a few days you'll see how it makes sense when at the moment you couldn't! Or you'll learn a new interpretation and be able to revisit old readings
Did a tarot reading today because it's my senior year of college and I'm suddenly doubting everything. A super clear message came through that's wasn't totally positive or negative and I appreciate when that happens because it feels more realistic.
September is here and so is Virgo’s month! Try it this near full moon! *:・゚✧
The potion can vary on quantities depending on how much you want to do. This should make it for a couple of glasses.
When you wake up (after drinking the potion and going to sleep) make sure to write your dreams first thing in the morning. A Glimpse of the future should have appeared in them! (ノ´ヮ´)ノ*:・゚✧ More Zodiac Potions: here

Hi! Do you know of any spells to dissipate storms? All I can find are storm summoning spells
I did a Google search and found this chant:"Wind, Water, Fire, and Earth, Please make it stop raining under this hearthWater, stop dropping your drops, Wind, stop blowing your blow, And please do this now as I have said so"Maybe you can try searching for spells to make it sunny (I imagine “I wish the storms would dissipate” isn’t as common to hear as “I wish it was sunny”). Good luck!
Smoke Cleansing With Wood
Smoke Cleansing. For most of us, Our first thought, Or go to would be white sage And While sage is great to use, It is to often relied on as the cure all and the only option. There are so many other herbs, and barks around us to use for their cleansing smoke that they are easy to overlook.
My favorite wood to use is Palo Santo (Holy Wood from Peru) But not everyone has access to that. And for this reason, I present to you all, (SOME) Woods, And their magical correspondences.
Also note that the fallen leaves from these trees can also be used to smoke cleanse. Grind them up, And burn on charcoal.

“Don’t Work with Death!”
“Don’t work with death, because then you invite it into your house.”
Death is already in my house. Death is everywhere. Death is what decays the plant matter that feeds my garden. Death is what feeds the herbs I use in my spells, for each grows from what died before it.
Death is what feeds my family - death of plants, the death of animals. I would not disrespect the spirits of that which feeds us by ignoring their sacrifice.
Death is the veil between my ancestors and myself, keeping them at rest and then acting as the gate for them to step into their next life.
When I do hospice work and sit with someone who is accepting their approaching death, I don’t tell them death is something to fear or avoid. I tell them death is the friend that walked beside them, every step of their life, maintaining the balance of the world, and waiting for them with open arms, to escort them to rebirth.
“Don’t work with death!”
I would not ignore life’s partner, not for arrogance or fear or ignorance. When I go to my own, I want to greet death with respect, acceptance, and gratitude.
