The Inkan, Long Island City, Queens
In Long Island City, below the train and near Court Square, lies the Inkan, an easy blink and you might miss it spot. A dinner for two was easy eating fare and we were surrounded by locals outside on their small patio. Heaping plates of fried yucca could be yours enjoyed with pisco sours or try the lomo saltado, a tasty South American take on meat and potatoes. Although dubbed widely South American, the Inkan really shines with their Peruvian offerings such as ceviche with super fresh leche de tigre (ceviche juice). If you still have room or need something to go, half and full perfectly cooked roast chickens always please. What's not to like?
Rangoon, Prospect Heights, Brooklyn
On a cold night in December, we booked a countertop table for 2 at Rangoon and we are so glad we did. What was meant to be a quick dinner before the light show at Prospect Park slowly turned into a feast not to be forgotten. It didn't take much to twist our arm and get the whole fried fish (be prepared to wait a little longer) and one of their 4 curries. Since then, the restaurant has probably worked out some of the slower service kinks and earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Enjoy these flavorful dishes with sake or soju based cocktails.
Have you ever had Burmese food before?
Babs, West Village, New York
Babs = the most delicious espresso martini. I haven't actually eaten here! Here's how I suggest having a Babs espresso martini:
-With a group after eating pizza brunch nearby at Emmett's
-After not being able to get a table at Dante's up the street on a date
-With your best girlfriend after having dinner at Minetta Tavern
-By yourself, mid-afternoon, at the bar
-Whenever!

Berimbau, West Village, New York
If the breezy Brazilian music and natural decor aren't enough to get you in the door, then the drink station at the entrance featuring fresh passionfruit and dried blood orange garnishes should. The food at Berimbau is a small sampling of the delicious fare that Brazil has to offer including seafood stew, cheese bread, coxinhas (small fried bites with meat), and steak. Dig into the beautiful cocktail menu featuring the Brazilian national spirit, cachaça, which is strong and light at the same time. Whether it's cold outside or a summery day, the lighthearted spirit of Berimbau will whisk you away to a fun beachy day on the coast of Bahia.
