HE FELT THIS RUSH OF NERVES and adrenaline coursing through him since the minute they got to this party, pacing back and forth inside of an empty room that the frat house deemed their “green room” for the night before they went on. sure, it was a little college party, but it was their first paid gig and in this town you never knew who knew who. cliff was usually confident, especially when it came to music because it was the one thing he was completely comfortable doing, there was just so much riding on this moment for him. hearing the door swing open with a loud thud, he turned around quickly and held a large hand over his broad chest, “holy fuck, you scared the shit out of me!!” cliff laughed out, shaking his head as he motioned for her to come inside, “come in, come in.” the bass player instructed, making sure to point to his get up that he spent a fair amount of time putting together to pull of the perfect ‘chandler bing’ aesthetic, “what do you think? i have a stuffed duck somewhere too, but right now, i’m a little on edge to go hunt it down.”
❝ SORRY, SORRY, ❞ the brunette quickly blurted out — she didn’t mean to swing the door that hard. she’d already had a new drinks — not enough to be considered drunk drunk, but just enough that she wasn’t entirely in control of her limbs and how much strength she uses to complete everyday actions. ❝ i think it looks great. ❞ she smiled, hoping her slight blush would be chalked up to the alcohol. ❝ it’s totally rad, but also like, cool and comfy. y’know ? like you put some effort into it, but it doesn’t look like you’re trying too hard. just the right amount. beer ? ❞ she asked, lifting up her basket in offering ( and to stop herself from rambling ). ❝ i just came to wish you good luck, you guys are gonna be great out there. so, good luck ! ❞ tai was a huge fan of their little band; a self-proclaimed groupie. one day, when they made it big, she could boast about knowing them before they were cool. ❝ you guys are gonna go out, and the crowd is gonna go wild, i just know it — do you want me to help you look for the duck ? ❞
❝ HOLY CRAP, i love your costume !! ❞ tai rushes toward their friend ( or maybe a complete stranger, she’s already had a few drinks ), one arm raised up in the air, the other holding onto her basket ( the one with the stuffed “ toto ” and a few party favors ). ❝ everyone looks so cool tonight. ❞ it almost makes them feel bad about their own costume. like maybe they should have worn something a little sexier. ❝ you want a beer ? ❞ she asks, shoving the basket at their companion. ❝ carrying this li’l basket around has its benefits. ❞
❝ CAN YOU BELIEVE i got this absolute dream of a dress for only twenty dollars ? ❞ the girl twirls in her long white dress, one that looks like it could have been stolen from a 1940′s jazz club — or from the costume department of a tv show set in the same era. ❝ it was a last minute find, but when i saw it, it was as if the passage of time ceased — i could hear the dress calling to me, begging me to take it home. ❞ she holds a and to her chest, recalling that fateful day. ❝ it was a sign — i should dress up as lady day, one of my personal heroes. i had to visit four different flower shops to get the gardenias. ❞
( laura harrier, cis female, she/her, bisexual ) check it out, i totally just saw LOLA HEPBURN! some people say they remind them of LOLA (CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE DRAMA QUEEN), but that’s just hearsay. it could be because they are AMBITIOUS but can also be a bit DISHONEST on a bad day. either way i heard the TWENTY-FIVE year old is working at CRAVE ME COFFEE / as AN ASPIRING ACTRESS. if only they could stop playing SOMEONE IN THE CROWD (LA LA LAND) on repeat so they could actually focus, then their neighbors in HOLLYWOOD might get some sleep. all i know is that they remind of of OVERSIZED SUNGLASSES, TICKET STUBS SCATTERED ALL OVER A MESSY BEDROOM, ONE-OF-A-KIND HANDMADE JEWELRY and can be seen as THE DRAMA QUEEN.

☆ born mary elizabeth cep, lola always knew she was destined for great things. she grew up in new york city, the center of the universe. while some people could consider nyc a dangerous place to raise their kids, lola thrived. she lived with her finger on the cultural pulse of the universe. they lived in an old building on the upper west side. lola, karen ( her mom ), and calum ( her dad ).
☆ karen kapok and calum cep loved each other, truly, but they were largely incompatible. they got a divorce when lola was just a baby, so as to spare her the trauma of watching her parents split up. calum moved into an apartment in the east village. he illustrates children’s books and lives with his dog, negus.
☆ a few years later, when lola was 7, karen ( a potter ), met elk, a lawyer for greenpeace. they got married shortly after, and had twins — pam and paula. they were one big happy family for a short while. that is until elk went to a conference in england and never came back. he met a woman called margot and moved to california with her.
☆ lola always felt like an outsider in her family — according to her, they were all too ordinary. lola was an artist. her family was ordinary in comparison to her. she was independent, high spirited, outgoing. she knew from a young age that one day she would be a famous actress, and every moment of her life was a performance.
☆ tragedy struck just a few weeks before lola’s 16th birthday — karen decided they were moving to deadwood dellwood, new jersey. the twins were now 8, and karen wanted them to grow up in a normal town, not new york city ( which felt like a movie set, according to her ). lola begged her to let her stay in new york — she could live with her father. karen wouldn’t budge.
☆ lola hated the suburbs. she felt her soul begin to wither away the moment they crossed state lines. everyone was boring, there was grass everywhere, it felt dead. the silver lining was that it gave lola a chance to start fresh — she could be whoever she wanted to be. back in new york, the people she grew up with refused to call her lola — to them, she was still mary. here, she could be lola. in all her glory.
☆ she quickly struck up a friendship with ella gerard — a girl who dressed like a politician’s wife and always colored inside the lines, but who was incredibly kind and shared lola’s love for the band sidarthur. but just as she made a friend, lola made an enemy — carla santini. carla believed herself to be the center of the universe and couldn’t stand someone like lola, whose eccentricities frequently made her the center of attention.
☆ lots of things happened the year lola moved to deadwood dellwood. she went up against carla for the role of eliza doolittle in the school play ( lola got the part ). sidarthur split up and announced one final show in new york city. after a week of mourning, lola and ella managed to convince their parents to let them attend. they didn’t — lola left the money for the tickets on the train they took from new jersey.
☆ they did, however, find their way to stu wolff’s ( sidarthur’s lead singer, and, according to lola, the greatest poet since shakespeare ) manhattan loft, where the afterparty was taking place. they failed at sneaking in, but ran into stu. long story short, they partied at his place and now stu and lola’s dad are friends.
☆ after starring in eliza rocks ( the school’s modern — and musical — adaptation of pygmalion ), lola started dating sam creek. he was a sweet guy who’d been into lola from the moment she arrived. before then, lola had been convinced she would one day marry stu. things didn’t last very long, however. she broke up with him after their high school graduation, believing that her one true love would be waiting for her in los angeles — her new, real life was about to begin. she even changed her last name — cep wasn’t really a name you could picture on a marquee.
☆ she packed up her bags and moved out west — a surprising move for someone who loved new york city so much, but lola realized she wanted to be in films. she could go back to the theatre later. she studied acting at calarts, where she could really hone her craft.
☆ she graduated a few years ago, and has been working as a barista since then as a way to pay her bills while she waits for her career to take off. her father sends her a check once a month ( la real estate is expensive ), but she won’t let herself become dependent on him. when she’s not working, she’s going to auditions. anywhere her agent sends her. she’s booked a few things here and there, but she’s still waiting for that one, big role that will change her life forever.

☆ she decided to change her name from mary to lola after watching damn yankees on tv.
☆ when she was 15, she got a nose piercing behind her mom’s back. that same year, she went through a joan of arc phase and chopped off her hair.
☆ she’s a vegan, and very eco-conscious. she rides her bike everywhere.
☆ she has a habit of lying to make herself seem more interesting. she doesn’t lie about the fundamentals, just the details. but she really lies about those to embellish her stories. sometimes, she can’t keep track of her lies and forgets what she’s told people. this often comes back to bite her.
☆ her resumé is extremely padded. most gigs listed on it are made up.
☆ she loves attention. she’ll do anything for attention. she’s not afraid of making a scene.
☆ she’s a talented actress, but gets frustrated very easily when things don’t go her way.
“I’m okay!” Sebastian groaned, squinting up into the sunlight as he fully realized what had happened to him. Thank goodness he was so resilient, if anyone else had been hit by a car while crossing the street…yeah okay, he had been jay walking. Point was, Sebastian had always been lucky, today was no different. But staring up into the face that was currently looking down at him, Sebastian was starting to think not so much. “Wow, you would be here to see this, huh?”
❝ OH MY GOD, are you okay ? ❞ after the initial few seconds of shock ( during which the brunette remained completely still, hands hovering a few inches above the wheel as they realized what she they done ), tai put her car in park and ran out to make sure she hadn’t just committed involuntary manslaughter. ❝ i am so, so sorry. i don’t know what happened, i swear i looked. ❞ or maybe she didn’t ; she wasn’t the best driver. thankfully they had just pulled out of a very uncomfortable parking spot and was driving at a low speed. ❝ should i call 911 ? do you need me to drive you to the hospital ? how many fingers am i holding up ? ❞

☁︎ tai grew up in new jersey, in a little suburban home with her parents and her two brothers ( one older , one younger ). things were simple. she enjoyed saturday morning cartoons, eating large bowls of sugary cereal, and spending time with her older brother theo. her entire childhood, he was her best friend. she thought he was the coolest person alive.
☁︎ she was never the brightest. she always struggled in school ; she just wasn’t able to focus. she would always sit in the back of the class and hope she wasn’t called on as she doodled in the margins of her notebooks. the only school subject she enjoyed ( and was actually good at ) was art.
☁︎ she was never the kind of person who liked to stand out — she’d rather fade into the background. popularity wasn’t something she strived for. instead, her friends were the burnouts, the slackers. the ones who cut class to smoke week under the bleachers. they got a lot of shit, but in reality they were just good kids with no motivation and too much time on their hands.
☁︎ being the middle child, tai didn’t get much attention from her parents, compared to her brothers. this was both good and bad. it meant that tai could pretty much do whatever she wanted without getting in trouble. she regularly snuck off late at night to go to rock shows and parties. she got a few tattoos. she tried everyone once.
☁︎ the year she turned 15 was an eventful one. her older brother graduated and moved out of the house. her parents announced they were splitting up. a few months later, tai and her younger brother, moved to beverly hills with their dad.
☁︎ tai stuck out like a sore thumb at bronson alcott high school. thankfully, cher horowitz and dionne davenport adopted her — they washed the bright red dye off her hair, they gave her a new wardrobe, and even expanded her vocabulary. in all honesty — the clothes weren’t really her style ( so, predictably, that didn’t stick ), but she did gain a lot of confidence she didn’t have before.
☁︎ by the end of her first year at bronson alcott, tai was dating travis birkenstock — a sweet guy who caught her eye on her very first day of school. at first, her new friends assured her he'd only drag her down. tai’s other romantic endeavors failed miserably, and ultimately, tai and travis found their way back to each other.
☁︎ senior year brought on a little new crisis — college applications. tai wasn’t sure if she even wanted to go to college ; she was never the best student, she didn’t want to spent another four years stuck in a classroom struggling to pay attention, and she couldn’t think of a subject she could study at a university level that she’d be good at, much less enjoy. it didn’t occur to her that she could pursue art seriously until one of her friends suggested it. and so she enrolled in ucla’s design & media arts program.
☁︎ she realized she could make a little money on the side by taking commissions, and working on little projects for other people. she started making stickers for fun and built up a little business from her bedroom. she has a decent follower count on tiktok and instagram, and it still blows her mind her that people want to see and support her art.
☁︎ at the moment, she’s living it up in her college dorm. she’s working towards her degree, but every so often she considers dropping out. she could just do freelance work and keep making stickers. but for now, she’s staying in school. she’s single now, and falls in love with someone new every other day.

☁︎ she was named after figure skater tai babilonia !
☁︎ she can do a spot-on mickey mouse impression.
☁︎ she’s still the same bubbly, awkward, clumsy girl she’s always been. just a little bit more confident than she was at 15.
☁︎ she crushes on people very easily. especially if they have some cool talent, like if they skate or play an instrument.
☁︎ still loves a good rock show — if you’re her friend, she’ll try to convince you to head out to some seedy club just to catch a friend’s band. she loves a good party too, but she will need a ride home after.
☁︎ loves comic books, cartoons, and space. her favorite activity is getting stoned and discussing any of these three topics.
