He nodded at Kurt’s answer, understanding his hesitation to tell his family. They all loved him very much and would no doubt flip out completely. It would probably be especially difficult to hear for Kurt’s muggle father. “They might be a bit…concerned when they hear but they aren’t going to love you any less, Kurt.” He tried to comfort as best as he could. He hadn’t ever been best friends with someone going through something like this, he needed to learn what the line was between comforting and not comforting. “I won’t say anything to them though. And I’ll make sure Seb doesn’t either. They deserve to hear it from you whenever you’re ready, Kurt.”

“Well it never hurts to check. If anyone knows whether anyone else at Hogwarts is going through something like this then Jesse would know.” He pointed out. Maybe if Kurt could find someone else that was going through a similar if not the same situation then he’d be able to deal with it a little easier. “I could ask Jesse for you, even?” He offered, just in case Kurt was uncomfortable doing so. “You could start a club of sorts if there are.” Blaine attempted a joke, hoping it wasn’t too soon for it, but knowing his best friend usually diffused stress with humor, so it was worth a shot.

He gave Kurt a sympathetic smile. “Maybe not exactly what you were planning but you can work with it, right? You only transform once a month and who knows, this late night energy could come in handy with  studying and all night cram sessions!” 

Kurt:

"Late night cram sessions are of no use to me if I feel like falling asleep during all of my classes, no matter how interesting I find the subject. The insomnia gets worse the closer the full moon gets though, so I suppose I can adapt to the best of my abilities. With Jesse's help it shouldn't be too difficult..." Kurt finally looked up at Blaine again and gave him a tiny smile, shaky but still somewhat pleased. "You really are one of the best people I know, and I mean that. You help everyone so much and none of it seems selfish in the slightest, even when you do gain from it." 

He fell quiet after that as he mulled over some of the ideas Blaine had provided. He needed to talk to his Dad, probably sooner rather than later. The school would notify the other Hummel eventually anyway, be it for a needed discussion over how the change would effect Kurt's schooling or something else. "When I contact my Dad about it can you maybe be there to help me so I don't get overly emotional and just blubber and apologize throughout the whole letter? I wish I could tell him in person..." Kurt frowned at that. He and his Father had been through so much, things of that extremem weren't something he liked to deliver cold and out of nowhere. 

"I'm glad we're here to guard one another's bright sides." Blaine could make Kurt feel better, and Kurt could make Blaine feel better. Even if all they had to offer were hopeful words and soothing hugs. It just worked. "How is Sebastian, by the way? I realize you were in Paris with him and obviously the whole Cooper incident went down- but how is he? I obviously don't make it a goal in life to have lengthy discussions and emotional chats with the Slytherin gang, even if they have rapidly fallen into our circle. Last year I would have said we were both completely insane."

Blaine had laughed along with Kurt a bit as he explained what they’d been up to over his Spring Break. He knew he could resort to more childish mannerisms, but found things like that fun and amusing. He wasn’t sure what he could say for his brother. He knew what his brother could be like, usually the center of attention and in love with the spotlight, he wasn’t usually rude with people. He gave Kurt a small smile in thanks. “Yeah, I think things will be alright. Thanks, Kurt.” He reached a hand across the table to give one of Kurt’s a small squeeze in thanks, only holding on tighter in what he hoped was a comforting manner as he started in on his Spring Break.

He pulled his hand back when Kurt assumed the stomach ache position and curled in on himself. Pulling a sad face at Kurt’s mention of feeling sick, Blaine listened as attentively as he could, not wanting to say anything that would offend or make Kurt upset. “At least you got to spend time with Adam!” He tried to say cheerfully, giving a silver lining to what was going on with him. “Oh, Kurt, you weren’t yourself then. It’s not your fault. Anyone being hit with a hat would want to rip it up, you just couldn’t help it.” Blaine nodded at the mention of Jesse making up something that could help Kurt. “Yes! Wolfsbane, I think it’s called. They make it at the hospital wing. I mean, that would have to mean there are a couple of other people going through this here, right? Maybe you could talk to them about it!” Blaine suggested, hoping to give Kurt a good idea on what he could do to feel better about all of this.

“Have you…” Blaine trailed off, waving his arms as he tried to figure out a way to ask Kurt what he was wondering. “I mean, your dad knows about all of this stuff going on with you right? And Finn? They’re all going to be just as worried about you as we are.” He gave Kurt a small smile, hoping he hadn’t asked the wrong thing.

Kurt:

He gave Blaine a weak look that withered into a sad one. "They don't know," he said softly. Kurt was too scared to tell them. They knew of his attack, of course- but they were still up in the air about what had been the cause. He didn't want to let them know that he was, essentially, a monster. Kurt had always sympathized with werewolves before. Had never wanted to call them such a thing, but since he was one- he thought of himself as a monster. How could he not be? Doing things that he had wanted to do, getting his own mouth all bloody without even having the decency to put an animal out of it's misery first. 

Attacking his lover.

Kurt shook his head to try and snap out of it. "Yes. But...I don't know if anybody is actually going through it here. They have to practice the potions, right? And Jesse is here...I don't know if there's anyone at Hogwarts like...this. There are some in the woods, sure, but I don't think it would be any of the other students here. Jesse specifically said I should go to the Room of Requirements when it happened. To make sure I was alone because he couldn't be sure how I would react around others. Just that I would be docile and basically sleep through it." Kurt sighed heavily.

"Either way. It's definitely not the life I saw myself having. Then again I bet there's only a tiny handful of people who want this life. I just...I'll tell them. I guess. I just don't want them to look at me differently, or be afraid once that time of the month starts to creep in. One way or another they're going to find out of course. I don't know, Blaine. But....I'm really glad you had a good break, at least." It was a pitiful attempt at changing the subject.

Watching Kurt slowly open the gifts he’d picked out from Paris made him extremely happy. Blaine had always been a big people pleaser, especially when it came to people he was really close to. Kurt was tough to please sometimes, he knew well enough that Kurt could have pretty refined taste when it came to most things but after years of friendship he knew Kurt well enough to know what he’d like. He smiled brightly as Kurt did, saying he loved everything Blaine had picked out. “I figured you would. You usually have an outfit ready on hand at a short moment’s notice.” Blaine said with a laugh. “Sounds like you two will have a good time. Have a tea party.” He teased lightly, not putting it past Kurt to actually host a tea party.

Things turned serious though as Kurt set his gifts aside to leave them staring for a moment in silence, Blaine trying to sort out if Kurt was dancing around the elephant, or rather werewolf, in the room. It appeared he was though as he asked about his break first. He was curious about Kurt and his transformation, but he wouldn’t push the topic if Kurt didn’t want him to, so he brought his thoughts back to his own Spring Break, scowling again at the thought as he slumped forward a little bit. “The first part was amazing. We went to Sebastian’s grandparents and they are the cutest things. The embodiment of perfect little old couples.” He gave a small smile. “And Paris was…breathtaking. Everything you’d expect it to be. We saw the Eiffel Tower and it was beautiful, especially at night. Otherwise we spent time in a hotel room there. We built a fort and spent the night in it.” Blaine bit his lip against another smile at the memory.

“It didn’t go so well at my house though. My parents loved him and thought Sebastian was absolutely amazing for the first day we were there, right?” He could feel his temper growing at the thought of everything again. “But then Cooper got home from break and I don’t know what he has against Sebastian but he was horrible to him, and he decided to tell my parents all of Sebastian’s past and no doubt played it up a little to make him look terrible. Sebastian was crushed and everything got really awkward from there between everyone.” He shook his head and sighed, not enjoying the ending of his break.

Kurt:

He smiled through the retelling, laughed a bit at the fort part. Blaine having a wonderful time in Paris made Kurt incredibly happy, but as the recounting went on he started to frown. Poor Sebastian. Why would Cooper have done that? Kurt would have asked but Blaine had already explained that he didn't understand it himself. "I'm sorry that he did that," Kurt whispered. "Neither of you deserved to have that be your ending. Maybe things can be fixed in the future though, right? There's always glue lying around to help bundle the pieces back into place." He shrugged and then looked down at the table, at the spaces between his fingers. 

"I guess it's my turn then, huh?" Kurt sighed and shifted before wrapping his arms around his middle, as he tended to do when he didn't feel very safe. Too vulnerable to the world- even to Blaine, sometimes. "Honestly my break was...okay. The only good parts about it were when I got to spend time with Adam. Otherwise I was just exhausted and felt ill the whole time, like I had a bad case of the flu, almost. The worst came that day though.." It still felt so odd to him, knowing he had to be afraid of something as simple and beautiful as a full moon. 

"It hurt. A lot, Blaine. When it happened. But I honestly think the worst part about it was staring at Adam and  wanting to do nothing more than chase him away. Bite him if I had too- and I tried. He shoved his hat over my muzzle to keep me from getting him, after hitting me some with it. I ended up ripping it to shreds without any care or remorse- and he told me how much it meant to him. That his Mother had made it for him, it's old and worn and wonderful- and I just ripped it apart like it was nothing at all. That's the worst part. I don't want to go through that again, emotions can be painful but having none? Not in our sense of the word...that's...just insufferable. Jesse told me he's been working on something though. Something to make it easier, make me more manageable...more...in the human mind set, I suppose." Kurt slumped after his own sharing, like it exhausted him just to talk about it.

It took about two minutes of fidgeting alone in the back of the library for Blaine to begin debating on sending another owl to Kurt. However, he decided against it, knowing Kurt liked to take his time deciding things. He was just anxious as he got himself prepared to see Kurt for the first time in a week. The last time he’d seen him, he’d just been Kurt, his best friend. This time though, he was Kurt, Blaine’s werewolf best friend. He knew it was stupid, but he was half expecting him to be covered in fur when he saw him. He shook the thought away though, knowing that wasn’t how that worked from when they’d studied werewolves in DADA in third year. This would be the same Kurt he was used to seeing, just a little different.

Hearing his best friend’s cheerful tone relaxed him a little as he looked up, his arms reaching to to hold Kurt in a tight hug before letting him go so he could sit across from him at the table. “I missed you too. There’s so much I want to tell you and hear, I don’t know where to start.” Blaine rushed out, excited now as he tended to get from being around his best friend. Werewolf or not, this was still Kurt sitting with him and he wasn’t going to treat him any differently now because of what had happened to him.

He rolled his eyes at Kurt’s impatient nature, reaching next to him to hand Kurt a small, poorly wrapped and durable package. “You can thank Seb for the dreadful wrapping skills. He wanted to help though.” He said,with a smile, waiting for Kurt to open it where inside he’d find a cheesy tourist ‘I <3 Paris’ scrawled in fancy french script, like he’d promised and Blaine had managed to find a beret he’d thought Kurt would like and considering it was very France and fashionable that Kurt would be able to wear it with one of his outfits, or he’d probably design a new one to go around it. And just to complete everything, he’d even found some French tea Sebastian had translated the ingredients of for him and Blaine deemed it special enough for Kurt. Blaine leaned forward with his arms on the table, hoping Kurt liked everything.

Kurt:

Kurt very gingerly unwrapped the gifts and then got more and more excited with every one he unraveled. "Blaine! These are amazing! Thank you so much." He had only expected the 'I <3 Paris' gift despite demanding more out of his best friend when Blaine had initially mentioned gifts. "And I have the perfect idea to compliment this beret. First chance I get to wear a real outfit and not the school robes, I'm definitely showing this baby off." He fell silent as he read the ingredients of the tea and then opened one so he could pull it to his nose and smell. "Oooh this is going to be delicious in the mornings. I can share some with Adam, he loves all kinds of tea." 

Once the initial swell of swooning eased off Kurt leaned forward with his presents set aside and just stared at Blaine for a moment. "I want you to tell me about your adventures first." That gave him a longer time to settle into the idea of discussing his...recent transformation and the ones that would come from there on out. At least they wouldn't be so bad anymore, according to Jesse. That was a plus. He just hated that he would have to be alone on those nights, when they were the most stressful he was sure. The last one had definitely left him wanting company, more-so before and after the change. During the change he had been content to lope around and tear into stray animals. Which was still disturbing to think about. He had almost done that to Adam, after all. His boyfriend. 

"So? Speak! Tell me all about Paris first! You know how much I love that place. Did you see the Eiffel Tower? Is it as gorgeous as everyone claims? Did you go up in it? What about the cuisine? I've never had real French cuisine before. Just the Americanized version of things."

It had been a long Spring Break, there was absolutely no doubt about that. Things had started off strong, with he and Sebastian’s trip to Paris and being over at Sebastian’s grandparents. Everything had been nothing short of magical. Of course, it wouldn’t be a trip completed without a little family drama to tie everything together. The trip to his house had been an over all terrible idea that should have been avoided at all costs, and really Blaine only had himself to blame for the disaster that it had been. He was still trying to figure out a way to make it all up to his boyfriend for putting him in such an awkward and uncomfortable situation.

Of course, he knew some people had had much worse of a break than he did. Kurt, for example. Blaine had to say, as far as bad breaks went, Kurt had the worst by far. While Blaine was relieved that they’d figured out what had attacked Kurt a month ago, he was also admittedly terrified for his best friend, and he knew Kurt wasn’t much better off with it. He was probably freaking out entirely about it. No one transformed into a werewolf one day randomly and then had no cares or feelings about it at all.

That was why he found himself in the back of the Library, having just sent an owl off to Kurt that said ‘Meet me in the Library, I have your present from Paris and we can chat.’ and hoping he’d be headed over soon. The back of the Library was usually the most deserted place in school, at least that he’d found in six years being there, so it was perfect for talking about serious things with friends when you didn’t want to be bothered. He needed some time with his best friend after the hectic week that had been Spring Break, and he was sure Kurt would have a few things to vent about as well.

Kurt:

When Kurt received the owl he just stared at it for a little while, crinkling the paper in his hands and releasing, only to do it again. He hadn't really thought about the whole werewolf thing lately, had tried to shove it back so he could focus on other things and deal with it later. He was scared of it if he was honest, and he knew Blaine was going to want to discuss. 

However. His friend did have a present for him, and he hadn't seen Blaine in what felt like decades (even if only a week). So to turn him down would just be wrong and Kurt really did miss him. So he got dressed in a pair of sweats and a t-shirt with a jacket pulled on over it. Not exactly one of his head-turning outfits, but it was late and he was just going to see Blaine. The trip took him a few minutes but he did finally show up.

"Blaine!" Seeing the other man brightened him up considerably even though he was a little scared. "I missed you." Kurt leaned down to hug the other briefly and then sat down at the table Blaine had picked. "So. Where's my present?" He couldn't help but be excited for that particular part of their visit. It was something from France! Paris, even!

I've calmed down some, yes. I talked to Jesse. Right now I'm just kind of tired and stuffy.

Jesse: I do have something that will work. Calm down, Kurt. I know you're upset and you have every right to be. But I couldn't warn you, because then you would have panicked and your full moon would have been worse. There was nothing we could have done for you besides make sure everyone was safe and wait to see if you transformed. If you and and Adam would have just LISTENED to me, this wouldn't have been an issue, now would it?

Jesse: I have a potion for you for next month. They've developed a new form of Wolfbane potion that will keep you entirely docile and get rid of the pain. You will be able to curl up in the room of requirement during the full moons and be entirely safe. But Adam will NOT be able to come with you.

Kurt: If I'll be docile then why won't Adam be allowed to come with me? Don't werewolves tear themselves apart if they're left alone? Or will that go away with the potion as well? Are you sure this will work? I've never heard of this before...I don't want to be some experiment.

Jesse: I told him to go inside! It's his damn fault if he gets hurt, because he didn't listen to me. Just... Kurt, the headmaster knows about your condition. We've known for a couple of weeks now, but we weren't positive. He's not going to make you leave, but you are going to have to start being more careful and listening to the rules. And Adam can NOT be around you during full moons!

Kurt: Can you...isn't there anything we can do? To make this safer? Kids sneak out all the time! Especially the first years who think they're being rebellious and awesome! I don't want to kill anybody, Jesse. I really wish you would have warned me about this being a possibility! How do you think it felt when I was suddenly in so much pain and confused! Of course Adam didn't listen, he's my boyfriend, he was worried! Neither of us exactly knew what was going to happen!
