hey! sorry this was sitting here for so long. i’m focusing on figuring out the first episode for the wizardsinteractive element, so wizardsdiscord is definitely taking a backseat. there probably won’t be another prompt / episode for quite some time, honestly.
ansem’s time wasn’t often spent in wimbourne, of all places. while the wasps were a decent team, he would have been hard pressed to say that they were a favorite up until the current season. it was almost embarrassing how he'd followed their matches thus far, cheering in the stands at nearly every match his career as a curse breaker had allowed him to attend. on today's such occasion, he was still munching on concession popcorn as he ventured to his floo point, only stopping when a sign blew in front of his face. the wizard sputtered indignantly as his beloved popcorn fell to the ground, snatching the poster away from his face as his eyes scanned over it. "missing pet." he read aloud, nose flaring. "ugh, a snake. of all the things to lose." while the wizard might have been a former slytherin, snakes were hardly his favorite creatures. one could even say he wasn't a fan. so when he nearly trampled said snake a moment or so later when he turned the corner and went to climb a fire escape, which was barely lit by the setting sun, it was only expected that he shrieked as he jumped around it. his hands were covering his eyes; he wasn't sure if he'd trampled the blasted thing or not and he wasn't ready to check.
nadia couldn't remember the last time she'd been in wimbourne, but with her newly given freedom, it couldn't have been too much of a surprise that she was taking full advantage of it. she'd been scoping things out in her snake form. the brunette always loved the reactions people gave, the fear when they saw a snake; it was like amusing music to her ears. as mean as it may have been, she usually only scared them. it never went much further than her giving them a good scare. she hissed loudly as she did the best she could to dodge being trampled! it was rather scary even if she wasn't one of those small snakes. the feet were still coming towards her. it was with another hiss, as she slithered backwards, that she opted to stay still. she at least hoped it would help her avoid getting smashed or trampled.
when the pounding of his heart wasn't ringing quite so loudly in his ears, ansem chanced the opening of his eyes. he hadn't been bitten and he was quite sure he'd heard a hiss so he was pretty sure the snake was fine. a glimpse of it reassured him that it was and the wizard sighed. thank merlin. upon further inspection, it looked familiar ... it was the snake from the poster ! his stomach flipped. stepping on the snake could have had disastrous results. while he was half tempted to leave the snake behind for someone else to play kind samaritan, he remembered what he'd read at the bottom of it. 'reward if found'. while the warbecks were never hurting for money, it was an opportunity that ansem knew he couldn't pass up. eyeing the snake warily, ansem approached with caution. "here, snakey snakey..."
it was one of those times where nadia was partially in disbelief; most people that saw her in her snake form would’ve run for the hills by now. her head turned to the side as she looked for an escape route if she needed one -- she wasn't even sure why she was being approached. she hoped to be moved somewhere there were less people, but she wasn't entirely sure that would happen. it probably looked creepy; you could definitely tell you were being watched by the reptilian.
could snakes understand english? ansem was no parselmouth, but he was pretty sure that it was looking at him like he was an idiot. he felt like one too, calling the snake like it was a stray cat or something. were it not for the promise of a reward, ansem would have already abandoned the pursuit. maybe he just wanted the glory ? who knew, he certainly didn't. with a rush of adrenaline coursing through his veins, the slytherin alumnus sucked in a deep breath and made a beeline for the snake. he scooped it up in his arms, shivering as its skin touched his bare arms. eugh ! "someone's been looking for you." he informed the snake, still operating on his shaky belief that it might understand him. "so if you know how to slither on home, by all means... be my guest. otherwise, i guess we're stuck together tonight." there was no universe in which the wizard was going to try to apparate or floo with a bloody snake on his person.
while nadia could very much so understand english in her snake-like form, it didn't mean she was able to answer. she'd have to pretend for now that she actually was one. upon being scooped up she'd gone mostly still, and probably looked content not to be playing the avoiding feet game. she'd already prepared herself and found an escape route if one was needed: if he dropped her off somewhere in the grass, she could go on with her day. you've got to be kidding me is the first thought that came to her mind. it was IMPOSSIBLE that someone was looking for her, at least not as a snake. not many people knew she could take that form and so she couldn't believe what she was hearing-- it was a slim chance that were true. at least now she understood what was going on. there was a hiss at the remark of being stuck overnight. great. this was the last thing she expected.
the snake wasn’t very friendly. it seemed like every time ansem said something, it started hissing. with little to no choice he booked himself a room at the closest spot available: a quaint little bed & breakfast which thankfully had a fireplace in its room. he wasn’t staying with a snake all by his lonesome all night. no way, no how. after staring the snake down for what felt like an eternity, ansem was starting to question his decisions. this snake wasn’t acting like your typical snake... what if something was wrong with it? his first thought was to summon his best friend adora for help ; the former ravenclaw was as brilliant as she was beautiful but he wasn’t sure how happy she’d be to come face to face with the serpent. instead he played it safe; his first cry for help would be sent to alecto selwyn — a former snake and friend. maybe she’d know exactly what to do with then bloody thing!
alecto’s day to day, and occasionally nightly activities mainly consisted of work. rarely was she ever out of her office and enjoying any available leisure time. but then again, she was annoyed into taking a break more often times than not. which was why when she received a message from ansem late into overtime, alecto was curious as to what her friend meant. after flooing to what she assumed to be her friend's place, she stepped out only to be greeted by the sight of a snake. admittedly, she was confused. has it been that long since she last spoke to ansem that she didn't even realized he got a pet snake? "okay... so what was the reason for my visit? i'm presuming that it has something to do with the snake over there?"
thankful for alecto's arrival, ansem gestured to the snake widely. "do you see it? look .. it's giving me strange looks. there's something wrong with this snake. it's not acting ... well, like a snake." he then proceeded to explain the advert; that he'd seen a sign boasting a reward for returning the snake and how strange things had been happening ever since he'd grabbed it and brought it inside. it was almost like it was upset with him. "what do you think?"
alecto tilted her head to the side as she observed the snake. "now that you mention it, there is something off about it. it's like it understands what we're saying ..." she turned to face her friend as he explained how he got into this predicament in the first place. "well, it is reasonable that this snake might not be adjusting to the new environment? and finding it out on the streets would've surely frightened it? but i'm not sure. maybe we could call for a second opinion."
well, at least they were on the same page. "it doesn't look frightened." ansem pointed out. in fact, the snake almost looked like it found what they were doing humorous ... if that was at all possible. could snakes laugh? ansem's blood ran cold at the thought. laughing snakes were going to haunt his nightmares moving forward. "it looks..." like it's thinking, but saying that out loud would make him sound like a fool. if the snakes couldn't figure it out, that meant they needed to recruit outside of their former house. ansem's first instinct was to reach out to adora but he hesitated; if he interrupted her beauty sleep he'd be -- in her words -- muy muerto. "i'll ask eva? she's a ravenclaw... they're supposed to be smart, aren't they? she'll know what to do." not that present company wasn't but .. they weren't making much ground.
the former ravenclaw arrived at ansem's assumed residence not long after she was called on, looking annoyed and exhausted, as she had finally retired to bed after working all day not even two hours before ansem had reached out to her. though technically, by the time her head had hit the pillow, yesterday had melded into tomorrow. today was already hell. "this," evangeline began, pointed a finger at the wizard, "better be good, or i'm hexing you into the next millenium and --" she stopped, noticing the snake. "did you really call me here because you got a pet?"
ansem raised his hands, as if he was expecting her to strike him. "the next millenium isn't ready for me, eva. just listen, i called you here for -- no it's not a pet." he was staring at her flabbergasted, gesturing between himself and the snake with grandiose. "we are not friends. it's definitely not my pet. look ... look, it's laughing at me." he looked between alecto and eva. "you have to see that it's laughing at me.."
"well it's certainly not acting ... normal," she decided. "where exactly did you find this snake then, if it's not your pet, hm?" evangeline looked to alecto with a joking why do we deal with all of his nonsense kind of look, shaking her head as she returned to the conversation. "did you steal it from someone, ansem? because i'm not going to be apart of that."
alecto watched the exchange happening between eva and ansem. she couldn’t help but find it rather humorous. with another look from eva, she couldn’t help but chuckle. “well it seems like we’re all in a stump here. no one knows if this bloody snake is okay or we might all just be going completely mad.” at this point she glanced back at the snake. she was sure that the snake was understanding their every word and finding the entire thing amusing.
"we could always just ..." evangeline pondered their options for a few moments. they could cast some kind of spell, but she wouldn't know which one, they could make missing posters? but that seemed rather asinine for a snake. she finally decided on, "put it back outside. it clearly doesn't want to be here -- not that i blame it."
"we can't put it back outside." i mean, they could ... but then there'd be no reward for any of them. ansem paused, realizing rather quickly that his reward had significantly dwindled. now they were going to have to split it three ways. unless of course, he kept that little tidbit to himself. "what if someone steps on it?" after all, ansem had nearly done it himself. "i might not like snakes but that doesn't mean i want to see it squished under someone's boot."
if it were any more possible for nadia to be extremely offended it would be right now. throw me out? throw me out? like she was garbage? now that offended her a lot more than being stepped on, but both were extremely offensive in her opinion. why couldn't they just let her go, somewhere? as amusing as this may have been, them thinking she could understand, which she could-- and eavesdropping on their conversations about her; it didn't mean this is what she would have liked to be doing with her time, nor did she want to be stepped on or thrown out. there would be trouble to pay if anyone thought they could do that to her, even in her snake form. thus, these were the thoughts running throughout her mind, and needless to say, she was offended and irritated.
yep, the snake could definitely understand them. it had to be able to, otherwise it wouldn't look as murderous as it currently did. "oi, shush up." ansem waved at eva, eyes widened dramatically. if the snake was about to pounce and try to make one of them its meal, he hoped it'd be her. survival of the fittest and all that. she'd gone and insulted the bloody snake, not him. he was simply an innocent bystander. "it definitely understands you.” with present company not being much help, ansem was scrambling to think of what to do. in what was a knee-jerk reaction, he sent a message through the fire to adora. perhaps she'd know what the best thing to do was. if she didn't, well, he was running out of ideas. running was starting to look better and better.
diamond bangles slid up and down adora’s arms as she glided through the bed and breakfast’s front door, which opened with a wave of her diamond encrusted wand. she couldn’t visit the market based town in england without getting a pastry for breakfast, hence why she hadn’t floo’d in. and if i’m going to get up this early, i need sugar on deck, she thought to herself in her native tongue. she pouted beneath her wide brim hat that pointed towards the morning sky. what was so important that she could only get a mere eight hours of sleep in? waking up before ten in the morning during the summer was a crime. “ansemcito! what wizard nonsense have you committed this time?” she walked into the room as if she owned the place. adora stopped short. “eva?” her doe eyes turned on alecto, her brows furrowing. they’d only met briefly as importante witches often did. adora’s eyes then turned on their special guest. she gasped. “aayyyyyyyyy!!! diosito mio! what demon have you summoned this time?” the bluenette made the sign of the cross.
"it's a gift." ansem deadpanned. as if he'd ever buy her a snake. of all the things that adora de la fuente would appreciate as a gift, a snake wasn't at the top of the list. not even if you somehow fan-dangled a diamond encrusted collar onto it. he shivered at the thought. that wouldn't end well. "well, you see..." he launched into his tale; how he'd found the snake, wondered if it was friendly, summoned help, and determined that it understood them. "now the question, i suppose, is what we do with it..."
eva looked to adora, "i told him to free it. it clearly doesn't want to be here and," she looked to ansem then, "you should have just let it be. wait --" confusion spread across the former ravenclaw’s face, thinking back on what ansem had said just before adora's arrival. "nevermind. adora, tell him to free it or something."
her pink lips moved into a flat line, which in her book was better than flat out frowning. frowning, after all, caused wrinkles— and wrinkles were a huge no in adora de la fuente’s book! had she really been woken up over this? “la neta,” her eyes bounced between the two of them, “i agree with evacita. i would not just pick up some random snake off the street. but now that it is here, you cannot just throw it out. you are in too deep. you could be, como se dice... implicated if something happens to to it. if this is special snake that understands, who is to say it cannot talk in special circumstance?” this made her pause. she started to pace. “... can’t only parselmouths communicate with snakes?” adora looked at evangeline. they were both ravenclaws, so she figured she was doing the same as her; process of elimination by knowledge. “bry-bry can interpret feelings of animals, but that’s different, no? what about spells?”
ansem shrugged. how unhelpful. "i don't know any parselmouths. do they even exist anymore? " for once, he regretted snoozing during professor binns' lectures. "in my defense, there was a reward. i've never been good at saying no when there's money involved." his comments were -- again, unhelpful -- but he honestly wasn't sure what to do. hopefully the ravenclaws could come up with something because the slytherins? hadn't done a bang up job thus far.
"an award?" eva questioned. she must have missed that part earlier, because if that's the case, then she knew of a logical solution. "if there's an award then surely there was contact information? if someone put up missing fliers for their pet snake, then they must have left some way to contact them in case someone found it, which you did. so, why haven't you done that yet, ansem?
adora looked at ansem; she extended her neck out ever so slightly. she’d heard the entire story from start to finish when she first arrived, but it sounded like the details changed depending on who he told it to. “ay, there was a missing pet poster?” it was then that she spotted it laying on the bed side table. she picked it up, rolled it up fast, and then whacked him with it on the shoulder. she muttered to herself in spanish as she handed it to eva.
the witched took the flier from adora, huffing as she saw that there was in fact contact information. "merlin's pants, ansem, why didn't you floo them when you found it?" she shook her head, approaching and sticking her head into the fire place: exasperated, tired, and silently hoping to be set ablaze to escape this nonsense. she easily masked her annoyance as contact was made, making polite conversation with the owners, explaining that they had their pet snake. they seemed quite thrilled and requested that they bring the snake to their home. eva ensured them that they would, and immediately turning back to her friends, annoyance once again prevalent, after the floo ended. "i'm not carrying that thing."
at this point in time, alecto was more than ready to leave. she had a sneaking suspicion that ansem might call for more backup. first it was her, then eva, and now adora. "seriously, ansem?" she took a deep sigh, pinching the bridge of her nose. "there was at least two very easy outcomes to this. either leave the snake when you first spotted it or just return it like a normal person would instead of just freaking out over how it's acting." spotting the annoyance on eva's face, alecto's eyes narrowed. " oh. oh, no. i am not carrying that bloody snake either. if it looks like it sure as hell understands us, i wouldn't put it past it to try and attack one of us."
ansem was starting to feel a bit attacked. "hey now, c'mon ... i can't be the only one who skims things. i read the important bits ... reward, galleons. the stuff that mattered. the rest didn't seem important." clearly it had been important, and the fact that his shoulder was smarting now was a clear indicator that he'd made a mistake. "my first instinct was to summon you lovely people for assistance ... a testament to the faith i had in you." yep, he was laying it on thick. but it was true. sort of. "well i'm not carrying it, so what do you suggest we do now?
adora liked how no one had even chanced a glance in her direction when it came to figuring out who was going to carry the snake— not even alecto, who didn't know her all that well personally. her reputation precedes her! no conversation was needed over whether or not she would even attempt to touch the aforementioned demonio. "isn't it obvio?" adora gazed at her nails, stifling a yawn. "we need a gryffindor." she looked at the three faces staring back at her. "...shall i call on one? or are we not all on same wave length."
alecto stood with her arms crossed, her gaze merely shifting as soon as adora spoke. she didn't know the witch at all, but she figured she would offer some sort of solution. "seems counterproductive if we aren't going to call for more backup in all honesty. so might as well."
"excelente!" adora picked off a piece of the breakfast pastry she hadn't touched till now, sighing as it melted in her mouth. "i'm on it. i know just the one. hopefully he is not busy." she headed towards the fireplace, a baby blue eyed wizard in her mind's eye.
waking up early wasn’t uncommon for the former gryffindor: he’d fallen into the habit of doing so ever since he started going to school and never fell out of it. so imagine his surprise when he received a fire message from a certain blue-haired witch whilst he was in the midst of his morning coffee. he was rather confused at the somewhat vague message that merely requested his help with something. checking his watch, isaac saw that there was still plenty of time before he had to go to work ( and if he was being honest, he didn’t feel like going to work that early. ) besides, who was he to deny help when it came to a special friend? the former gryffindor floo’d over to the bed and breakfast place, then stepped out of the fireplace, brushing his suit. he was taken aback by the number of people in the room and nodded at all of them in greeting, as well as giving them a small smile. “you needed my help with something?” he asked curiously, turning to adora.
though he'd been on board to call in reinforcements, ansem wasn't overly enthused to see isaac step through the fireplace. brilliant and devastatingly handsome isaac, here to save the day. gryffindors. "yep." he answered, popping the 'p' as he gestured to the snake. "say hello." he was not adora, of course, but seeing as he'd gotten them all in this mess? it felt like his place to explain. or not explain, as it were.
now, isaac van doren liked to think of himself as being courageous, but there was no denying the shock and slight fear he felt when ansem gestured to the snake. “er, what’s with the snake? did one of you get a new pet or something?” he asked. “and is it by any chance, venomous?”
"ansem decided to pick up a snake on the street and then got spooked when it started acting weird, and decided that instead of, i don't know, contacting owners or just putting it back outside, he'd wake up all his friends and make them do it -- which is why you're here. you have to carry the thing."
isaac made a face, but couldn't deny that what she was saying was mostly correct. "that about sums it up, yeah." he replied with a wry shrug. "i'm pretty sure it's not poisonous." he actually wasn't all that sure but it didn't seem pertinent to stress him out. not when he was the only one even remotely suggesting that they were willing to pick the bloody thing up.
" pretty sure." alecto emphasized. hell if she knew. unfortunately she was no expert when it comes to identifying snake breeds. "so yeah, we figured you might be more willing to carry the snake." as much as she was trying to help, she was a tad bit annoyed to be called away from work. sure she could miss a day of work. it really wouldn't hurt her. but still.
adora put one hand on ansem's shoulder, and the other on isaac's. "ayy, let's all try to get along here." she let the hand resting on ansem's fall to the side, her doe eyes now focusing on isaac. "please, cariño? we wouldn't ask for help if it wasn't of the uptmost importancia, and the snake is so scary. i would not levitate it even if i were poor and someone offered to pay me." the bluenette stifled yet another yawn. soon she was rested her forehead against the hand that was placed on his shoulder, her eyes drifting shut. she inhaled suddenly, waking up with a start."........did someone say there's a glindas sale?!"
now, because he promised to help, there was no way he was going to change his mind, no matter how wary he was of the snake. the “pretty sure” part did little to lessen his worry, but he stood there, staring at the snake for a bit as he listened to the others speak. he snapped out of it when he heard adora address him, and he felt himself nod. “alright. first thing’s first: where exactly am i carrying this snake to? and second: is there any sort of uh... aquarium, terrarium or whatever container we can use to put the snake in?”
at adora's abrupt exclamation, she gave the bluenette an inquisitive look before shaking her head. alecto didn't want to know. "i would assume that we'd bring it to the owner's home? eva spoke to them before you arrived," alecto answered. her attention briefly flickered over to the snake. "and as for container, i'm not sure? i could transfigure something if there really isn't anything."
at alecto’s words, he turned to eva. “where exactly does the owner live?” he asked. he glanced over at the snake once more, biting down on his lip. something about it felt off, if he was being honest. whether that snake was poisonous or not, he wasn’t going to risk holding it in his bare hands only to have it bite him and maybe kill him! putting it in a container seems like a safe way to handle the snake without risking his life. “if you could, please?” he asked alecto with a small smile. “just don’t wanna risk anything, you know?”
eva handed isaac the flier, "not too far. they seem rather eager to get their pet back, so we should probably hurry up ... not to mention that there is not one part of me that wants to be around this serpent any longer than i have to."
their makeshift container wasn't the best terrarium for a snake but it made due for their purposes. true to form, the owner's did live nearby. ansem would later curse his terrible sense of direction that had led to him staying at the inn in the first place. he hated wasting money! they must have looked quite the spectacle, turning up at the modest sized home holding the snake as if it were a bomb about to detonate, some of them having stayed up all night or most of it. they were greeted by the family's elf in the entryway and escorted into a sitting room. ansem's leg was jiggling impatiently as his eyes scanned the room, eyeing what looked like a selection of carefully curated paintings with none other than? you guessed it - snakes, their subjects. ugh. his skin was crawling. so when a middle-aged wizard came into the sitting room and greeted them, ansem couldn't help but feel that it was just in the nick of time. once introductions were out of the way, he gestured to the container that isaac was carrying. "i think we have something that belongs to you." the wizard was smiling and thanking him as he took the container, though that smile faded away as he frowned.
"while i appreciate the trouble you've all gone to, i'm afraid to say that this isn't my snake." the man looked chagrined, despite their mistake. well, bollocks.
"are you sure?" ansem had to ask, nervously glancing between the snake and the wizard. he really didn't want to have to take it back home. "it's a ... err, pleasant enough snake."
isaac had felt a little... creeped out as they walked through the owner’s house. he held the terrarium a bit further away from his body, as if he was holding something dangerous or fragile. in this case though, it was most definitely the former. despite being a gryffindor, the male was in no way shape or form completely fearless. besides, snakes were a dangerous animal— he had every right to fear and be wary of snakes, especially not knowing whether or not the one he held in the container was poisonous. isaac was all too happy to give the owner his snake in the container, only to stop short at the other’s words. “pardon us, sir, but the snake looks exactly like the one on the flier,” he explained. “how could it not be your snake, if you don’t mind my asking?”
"well for starters, my plum is an award winning snake. he can juggle." from behind ansem, adora's face scrunched up, her eye near twitching as she mouthed a bemused "what?" to evangeline. "whatever snake you have here is the same breed. pretty little thing... of course, it's also a girl. you can tell by looking at the tip of the tail. it's a nasty one too, if you don't mind me saying so. it hissed at me as soon as i reached for your containing device! my plum would never do such a thing."
alecto had to stifle an eye roll at the owner's reaction. if the snake isn't plum, then whose was it? surely it couldn’t be a coincidence. after a rather lengthy talk with the owners, which mainly consisted of him speaking very highly of his snake and how the snake found couldn’t possibly be theirs, it was back to square one. the group of them found themselves back in ansem's room at the inn. "okay, well, that was completely unexpected,” alecto said, “i was really hoping that would be an end to our day. but if this snake isn't plum, then who does this snake belong to? it's not like there would be snakes in this environment."
a shrug was ansem's only response. if this snake wasn't plum, he had no idea who it might belong to or what they should do with it. "we could floo the department for regulation and control of magical creatures?" while ansem wasn't particularity fond of getting the ministry to bail them out of trouble, they were running out of options and he quite liked to return to his normal life. he certainly wasn't going to take the snake home with him.
"and we're back to let it go, it's not the snake you thought it was: there's no reward, no owners looking ... there is no reason to keep it here. apparate out to the edge of a forest or something, go out to the edge of the hogwarts grounds maybe, and free. it."
"you cannot just go to the edge of the hogwarts grounds when school is not in session. that is more trouble than it is worth. you'd have to apparate to hogsmeade, then do all the walking..." adora tutted under her breath. "eso esta mal. and going to the ministry? they will just put it out on the street, there is no doubt in my mind. there are more pressing matters." she hooked her arm through ansem's. "now, i don't know about you muchachos, but i want to know what is wrong with this demon. or else we will have all wasted precioso time here for nothing!" she then rubbed ansem's arm, pouting. obviously helping ansem wasn't nothing, but everyone knew what she meant. she wouldn't be a ravenclaw if she wasn't the least bit curious. "it's the afternoon now.... i think we are all a little hungry, no? let's just call one more friend, someone with a fresh perspective... maybe some fresh food." adora looked at isaac then, but she wasn't seeing his face. she was seeing his sister's. "ayyy, you can't have one twin without the other, can you?"
when isaac had agreed to this, he thought they would just drop off the snake and be good to go, but now that the snake was revealed to be a completely different one and that they’d wasted almost half the day, he was at a complete loss at what to do. eventually, he ended up sending an owl to his brother lucas, telling him to cover for him and stating a non-emergency emergency. the male listened to the suggestions of the others about what to do with the snake, and it began to seem like there was really nothing else to do, until adora mentioned his sister. isaac blinked a few times and looked back at the bluenette. “grace? i suppose i could do that...” the male then went to the fireplace and sent his sister a quick note, hoping that she would agree to come as well as bring some food.
grace was in the middle of applying a homemade facial to her face when she received the note from her brother. she was surprised at the somewhat vague message and the hastily added post script about bringing a lot of food. nonetheless, because it was isaac who asked, she ended up removing the half applied facial as went to buy some food from the restaurant near her place before she apparated just outside the inn isaac mentioned. she carried the two bags of food in one arm as she went inside and found the room. grace knocked a few times, before calling out, “did someone request food with a side of a beautiful and brilliant witch?”
adora giggled at the muffled introduction. it didn't seem like anyone was in a rush to get the door. the morale was low. with a sigh, the bluenette all but danced over to the door. "ah! just what the healer order." she beamed at her friend. "come in, come in..." she could smell the food, and her belly rumbled in response. "ayyy, i think everyone has a case of the hangries. you're just in time. let me tell you about what has been happening!" the thespian then launched into a dramatic telling of how ansem had wandered upon the snake, though she henceforth referred to it as a demon, the lost poster, ansem calling everyone for help, how once again it was a demon, how apparently there was a juggling snake, how the demon wouldn't stop glaring at her with its demon eyes, and how she had only gotten a measly eight hours of sleep! "....and eva keeps talking about throwing it outside, but i think we should all be chatting about the importance of demon lore when we live in a world of magic, no?" she huffed. at this point, she had passed out the food to everyone, and had made a plate for herself. "asi que, it is up to us ravenclaws i guess."
grace had stood there for a few long moments until the door opened and she was greeted by her friend and former housemate. a bright, dimpled smile came upon her lips as she greeted adora. the brunette set down the bags of food and helped adora plate them while listening to the story. her eyes began to narrow and she stopped what she was doing, folding her arms across her chest. her signature glare rested upon her brother, who winced and squirmed. “so you mean to tell me, brother dearest,” she began to say in a controlled, calm voice. “that you interrupted my self-care time on my first day off in weeks for a goddamn snake?!” her voice had raised to a shout by the end and she could see isaac looking extremely guilty. “gods dammit! i thought this was something serious!”
when isaac saw grace glaring at him, he felt a twinge of fear. as much as possible, he tried not to anger his sister, since she had quite the temper and her glare was... well, enough to make anyone terrified. grace was going to get back at him for this, he could tell with the murderous glint in her bright blue eyes. isaac swallowed his fear and managed an awkward smile. “i’m so sorry! but like adora said: we’ve been struggling all morning and there’s something wrong with this snake according to that owner, so we really need your help and your perspective on this,” he insisted. “we wouldn’t have asked you here if we didn’t have faith that you can help us figure out what was wrong. right guys?” he asked, looking at everyone else with a pleading look on his face for them to agree with him. if there was something grace responded well to, it was being complimented and needed for her intelligence and wit.
alecto was amused by the spectacle happening before her as grace gave her twin a withering stare. noting the look on isaac's face, she decided to step in before something happened. "i agree. this has definitely not been the best use of our time. trust me, i would know, grace. but besides, if it's taken this many of us to attempt to figure out what in the name of merlin is going on with that snake, i think it's safe to say that it's kind of important." she was really hoping that with grace here, they'd be able to at least find some sort of solution. or just end up letting the snake loose at this point. it didn't really matter to her.
whilst grace was definitely not going to hurt her brother, there was a chance that she would have thrown a minor hex at him had alecto not spoken up. the brunette gave isaac one last glare before she inhaled deeply and then approached the makeshift terrarium containing the snake. she stared at it for a few moments, before she turned to the others. “any weird behaviours from the snake that you lot have noted since you got him?” she asked, then turned back to stare intently at the animal, as if wanting it to maybe speak or do something, anything really to prove to her that something was wrong with it. “perhaps you’ve forgotten to feed it?”
grace's question brought up a good point. here adora was, making sure everyone ate and didn't get into too sour of moods, but she hadn't even thought of their.... guest. the bluenette offered with great reluctance to try to scrounge up some food that would suit the snake's appetite. or rather, request the concierge do as much with a bat of her lashes. the bait arrived five minutes after the twins had to leave. isaac had to get back to work, and grace had other ways she wanted to spend her time off. but then again, didn't they all want to be anywhere else but here? "ayyy, i am NOT performing the sacrifice," adora said, turning her nose upwards. she pouted her lips. "ansemcito, why don't you do it? you are the one who wanted a pet demon so much, so it is only fair."
the wizard paled. "what? i did not." he blinked. unfortunately for ansem warbeck, he had never been very good at saying no to adora de la fuente. it was with great hesitance that he took the bait, apologizing to it low under his breath before approaching the snake that they'd left on the bed some time ago. "alright, snakey. it's snack time..."
adora covered her ears, leaning her face into evangeline's shoulder.
evangeline patted adora's head, rolling her eyes at ansem once again. "you know, darling, you could have just wingardium leviosa-d it to the snake, don't you?" perhaps eva was being too hard on the former slytherin, but she was still bitter about being woken up from her much-needed sleep. "but by all means, get yourself bitten bit the snake, an."
he opened his mouth to comment but declined for two reasons. the first being that she was right, he was a wizard for merlin's sake, and the second being that she'd finally done away with calling him annie. if you looked at it with a squint and tilted your head upside down, it was nearly a win. "good idea." ansem replied instead, pulling out his wand and casting the aforementioned spell to dangle the bait before the snake. he backed away then, fully intent on keeping all of his limbs.
alecto continued to watch in amusement at the scene before her. it’s like all common sense flew out the window. then again, they were all running on fumes as the early evening drew coser. “you know ansem, you needn’t be so scared of the snake. i’m sure it could sense your fear.”
nadia was more than ready to go home at this point. she wasn't this committed to playing the part of a snake that she'd eat bait. there was just no way! she grimaced at the rodent, or the most she could in this form. her distaste and disinterest was evident. she even opted to move away from it, choosing to move as far as possible away from what she'd been offered. the first thought in her mind were the words, gross.
"uhm, did you guys see that too?" evangeline questioned, confusion on her face as she looked at the snake -- but was it even a snake at all if it was turning down food like that when it hadn't eaten? "that's not normal ... annie are you sure that this is even -- nevermind."
adora had plucked her head up as soon as she hadn’t heard any bones crunching or tiny mice like screams. her brows were furrowed with confusion, her thoughts racing from point to point. “no, no. the look in its eyes, the way it is acting. i say demon, but the closest thing to demon....” adora leaned closer to eva’s ear. “ansem acted like he was scared it could understand. it is like... it is acting as if it is human.”
she turned quickly to look at adora, "that's it addy! it could be human ... " evangeline shook her head at herself and her fellow wix, "we live in the wizarding world how did none of us immediately go to the obvious answer here?"
“...because it does not make any sense! there’s no snakes on the registry, we were taught that at hogwarts, not to mention it is so small. only a handful go on to complete the transformation. any normal animagi would’ve let ansemcito know who they were instead of letting this facade go on so long...” adora’s eyes widened to the size of diamond rocks unrefined. “they’re illegal.”
"be that as it may addy, this thing is not a snake, do you have any other possible solutions?" eva tapped out her next points on her fingers, "it wouldn't eat the bait, it seems like it can understand us, and doesn't want to be anywhere near us." she huffed, "if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it's a fucking duck -- but this this is moving like a human and behaving like a human -- it has to be a human."
“no, no, you are not listening!” the bluenette glanced around. making sure the snake was still there, she caught the attention of ansem and alecto, then pulled the three of them to the farthest corner. “that is an illegal animagus. they are not registered. that is why they didn’t reveal themselves, ansem! they could go to azkaban for this.” a dramatic gasp left her lips after her own utterance of the jail. “we must alert the authorities!”
ansem was happy to follow adora into the corner of the room, as far away from the not snake as possible. "shh!" he shot her a look of alarm. "be careful how loudly you say the 'a' word ... if they're an illegal, they're not going to want to go to azkaban. merlin knows what they'll do to avoid it." in the warbeck family his relatives were known for doing outrageous things to avoid being dragged into the wizarding prison. "i'm not dying today. i say we leave it here. walk away, pretend like this never happened."
"well damn, it's almost as if we suggested that when you brought us here, annie." eva pointed at the wizard that had called on all of them, "just use your wand and move the thing outside your flat or something! and then we can forget this whole mess of a morning ever happened and go on with our days avoiding the thoughts of illegal animagi and that horrific island it'll end up at."
if looks could kill, eva would have been flattened out on the ground. "it's ansem, and this isn't my flat. you seriously think i live here?" though the pureblood was usually quite easy going, the stress of the situation was wearing on him. the room at the inn that he'd rented was painted in lilac's and pastels that certainly wouldn't be a staple at his flat. it was also tiny, you could probably touch both walls with two people stood beside each other lengthwise. "i dunno how this got turned on me. i'm not the one who was slithering around on the streets." ansem pointed accusingly at the snake. "it's your fault!"
"well we never really know with you, do we ansem -- but that is no where near the point right now. you picked up the snake and brought it here, you get rid of it! i'm not doing it, and adora isn't going to do it, and alecto isn't going to do it, you're at bat now."
if her grand papi, the minister of spain, could see her now, he’d be ashamed. was she seriously just going to let a criminal walk free without at least trying to do the right thing? she could hear eva and ansem arguing in the background, and alecto was doing who knows what. her wand slipped out from of the sleeve of her avant- grade ensemble. she muttered a prayer in her native tongue before raising it. she knew it wasn’t logical to try to apprehend a criminal without a plan, but the only thing less logical was not upholding the international law. “we can’t just let them get away.” a blast of blue light escaped her wand as she tried to hit the snake with the animagus reversal spell.
ansem’s wand had been drawn and near pointed at eva when she started shouting, eyes flashing dangerously. anything he'd been poised to say died on his tongue when a flash of blue light shot in the direction of the snake, his mouth forming an 'o' as he reared back. "cool. let's just ... do that." he could only pray to whatever gods were out there that the snake wasn't a murderer or desperate enough to do them in to save itself. he wasn't wearing the right clothes to be murdered.
alecto sighed and rubbed her temples at the obvious commotion that ensued. personally, she thought that they should all walk away and let the snake be. considering the fact that it is an animagus, an illegal one at that, it really wasn’t her business. as soon as she spotted a stream of blue light, she snapped out of her inner musings. “wait! do we even have a plan as to what we should do once they’re back in their human form? i’m just hoping for the best that they don’t end up killing us for trying to reveal them.”
adora's action was as impulsive as her hair was blue, but she'd already made her intentions clear with whoever was behind the snake's visage. there was no turning back now. and maybe, alecto should've made her opinions clearer than just playing audience. there was a flicker of anger in the bluenette's eyes as she said as much. "ayyy, how about you help instead of just standing there? it is four against one. i happen to not think i am not totally inept, especially when i'm on a team of individuals. but if you want to just continue standing there like you've been doing all day, instead of following the law, you can just go!"
alecto rolled her eyes at the former ravenclaw. at this point, she may as well have manhandled the snake. she was really considering it. maybe it’ll actually get everyone to shut up for once. “oh well my apologies,” she drawled out in a sarcastic manner. “i forgot that i was dealing with a princess. an impulsive one at that.” her calm demeanor remained. none of them were inept to dealing with illegal animagi, but she can quickly draw the conclusion that they were all in different directions when it came to morality. “let’s see here ...” she muttered to herself as she calmly walked over to the snake. between all the chaos and adora shooting a spell at the snake, she was really hoping that it wouldn’t go on the defense and attack her.
"you say that as if it is insult." adora let out a hmph, the snake temporarily forgotten as she crossed her arms. she tapped her manicured nails against her wand, little glittering sparks being let out as she barely contained her upset. "...and considering you inherited an empire, i'd say that makes you no better, sonsa." the bluenette let out another breath, then sent a look at her two best friends as if to say, why would you invite her anyway! at least she'd actually been helpful. "i was only impulsive because none of you will listen to logic! and let me just point out that if whoever that is ever gets caught and questioned, we can be implicated as accomplices for not helping bring them to justice." at least she'd tried for the sake of her friends and following the merlin given law. she glared at alecto's back. it was dishonorable to throw barbs at someone who didn’t hold the same societal accolades as you. did alecto know who she was? she crossed her arms. adora was bored, tired, and over it.
"oh for merlin's sake, can we table this?" evangeline gestured between the two other witches in the room, her own wand drawn and prepared to do her part to get rid of the illegal animagus in the room. "we clearly have other issues right now than the two of you falling into the very tired trope of women insulting each other when they're both clearly wonderful people in their own rite. get a hold of yourselves, please."
if it was possible to even roll her eyes further, alecto would have done it. she wasn’t going to spare adora’s feelings just because no one was listening to her. such woe is me, she thought sarcastically. “yes, please let’s just table this indefinitely. if she has anymore to say, i’m afraid i don’t have the time for it.” her back was still facing the other three as she situated herself in front of the snake. whatever she was planning to do, she was really hoping the snake would at least be comfortable around her before everyone was going to start shooting spells to find out who the animagi is.
adora didn't say a word. everyone knew that at one point alecto had been voted most likely to wind up in azkaban. it was hardly surprising that even now, she was so ready and willing to do something that would inevitably land her there. some people just weren't meant to be ravenclaws. still wearing her supermodel expression of bored civility, she admired her charmed moving nail design.
nadia wished there was somehow, someway to tell alecto it was her-- to get help and be able to prevent the revelation that it was her. the last thing she needed was to get in trouble for being illegal, or for people to know that she an animagi. she thought that was her decision to make, but how wrong she’d been! now it seemed like she might lose that. it hadn't been her intention to get herself into this mess. as much fun as it had been initially now, it was an entirely different ordeal; one she wanted out of. the snake reluctantly slithered closer, in hopes the action looked more like a call for help. that was what it was, and she tried to make it look obvious as possible. at this point she wanted to just go home. it seemed like that was easier said than done though.
ansem was standing stupidly as alecto and adora squared off, shoulders tensed. while alecto was someone he considered to be a friend, he certainly wouldn't keep his mouth shut if she'd turned any other insults onto adora. his hand searched for the bluenette's, squeezing briefly. they might have been on opposite sides of this disagreement, but even so he was always on her side. "it looks terrified." he remarked, glancing at the snake. "which is... all sorts of weird. i think it might be more scared of us than we are of it. "
alecto took a deep breath in an attempt to calm herself. sitting down in front of the snake, something about it was familiar. she held out a hand as if making herself welcome to the animagi in hopes that it won't attack her. "to be fair, we have done some dumb things in an attempt to find out what's wrong with it. so i really wouldn't blame it for being scared."
willingly and without much protest, nadia slithered her way around the arm front of her, almost as she were choosing alecto out of everyone to be the one to hopefully help her. which she was; if anything she trusted alecto. still, you could see the snake still looked pretty fearful, as she wanted to keep the charade going, even if she trusted and knew she was in good hands. she figured it was better to pretend she didn't know anyone. but even in snake like form, she was thankful it had been alecto who'd decided to approach her. someone she knew well, and trusted a lot.
watching the snake slither onto alecto's made his skin craw. eugghhh. better her than him, though. now that it finally seemed their saga had come to an end, just in time for the stars to paint the sky once again, he turned to the group. "well now that that's settled ... drinks on me?" he shot alecto a sympathetic look. he hated sticking her with the responsibility of doing ... whatever with the snake in her hands, but he quite honestly didn't want to get involved in whatever this was. "double for you," he instructed the former slythein as he glanced over at the snake again. "maybe triple, if it bites you."
HELLO MINIONS! to the folks who are apart of the current prompt: i know it’s super duper close to being over. please wrap things up naturally so that i can format, proof read, and post it next week! thank you again for participating.
HELLO AGAIN! just double checking that no one is interested in having their muse join the current prompt playing out on discord. your character can help ansem unravel the mystery of the snake he found that matches the poster of the lost pet. only, is it the same snake? and why does it seem to understand every word he is saying? the prompt says open role “friends,” but truthfully, there’s plenty of ways for people to wander across ansem at the inn he’s staying at in dorset with a little creativity. click here to read the prompt called stung with surprise. if you’re interested in inserting your character into the narrative, click here to read the directions on how to get involved.
HELLO EVERYONE! so, i’ve decided to go ahead and officially open up the stung with surprise discord prompt. since it starts with nadia and ansem, @ignicorsnadia / @wcrbeck, these two muns can now start the storyline when they’re both online. if you haven’t read the prompt yet, you can read it here. ansem will be needing help to solve a mystery from his friends, which could be one of your muses. if you’d like it to be, all you have to do is send a message asking for your character to be added to the prompt, then follow the directions to joining the server if you haven’t already. if anyone has any questions, let me know!
HEADS UP! the next discord prompt will definitely be starting next week, so if you would like to have your character be involved, you can still add them in if you’re interested. click here to read all about it.
#1 wimbourne wasp fan role has been taken! now we just need more of the FRIENDS ROLE, which is unlimited. also, at this point, i’m thinking that the ic period this will be taking place during will be the summer holiday, even if it starts just a little before it begins in the rp. just to simplify things for everyone!
HEY GUYS. i know you’re probably sick of me posting about this but, still looking to fill up the next discord prompt. please take a look and volunteer your muse(s) if you haven’t already!
HEADS UP !! two roles have been taken from the new discord server prompt. come take yours before the writing begins, which will hopefully happen sooner rather than later.
PROMPT: #1 is walking down a street in wizarding wimbourne, having just seen a quidditch match involving the wimbourne wasps, when they notice a magical sign. it states that a pet is missing and whoever returns it will be thanked with a hefty galleon pouch. just then, they notice #2 in animagus form. taking it for the missing pet, they swoop the animal up, take the sign, and plan to return it to the owner the next day after their stay in a close by bed and breakfast. only... it’s not the pet. it’s a WIX! and #2 doesn’t know what to do to escape this person. not to mention, they know where the actual pet is, but can’t get back to it because they’re trapped. meanwhile, the longer #1 starts to watch the pet, the more they think something is wrong with it. they end up inviting a group of friends over through the floo system, #TBD to help them figure out the mystery. hilarity ensues.
OPEN ROLES: #TBD the friends ( unlimited. )
TAKEN ROLES: #1 the wimbourne wasps fan ( @wcrbeck, ) #2 the animagus ( @ignicorsnadia, ) friend #1 ( @sclwvns, ) friend #2 ( @adoraisms, ) friend #3 ( @vcndre, ) friend #4 ( @oficariianisms, ) friend #5 ( @evacalais. )

the smell of rain on dry earth signals to the wizarding united kingdom that spring is nearing. though it may still be frigid, icy temperatures skinning the hands of magical kind’s whenever they extend their wand into the day, it’s safe to say that all are preparing for the change in tempo. what better way to celebrate the pending sky blue than to shop for it? the town of portree agrees with this sentiment, hence the plethora of sales they’re beginning to host...
in almost every situation, claramae believed this to be true: the real is better than the fake. almost being the operative word. while she could appreciate the water fall near hogwarts in the highlands of scotland, the charmed one featuring a faux world unseen by the very real one outside of it, was a lot better in her opinion. especially when you factored in the magically modified to be warm climate. she exhaled her frustrations, moving into a pigeon pose. bless the owners of the cosmic yoga center. the sales of portree would be there when she finished. "it's beautiful here. don't you wish you could stay forever?"
while claramae might have been enjoying the wonders of the world, pippa's thoughts were elsewhere. as she bent her legs in ways - quite frankly - she thought that she shouldn't, she simply hummed her assent as she shifted to try to get more comfortable. the cute athletic clothes she'd purchased to convince herself to go out and take yoga lessons weren't cheering the witch up. not today, not when she was twisted like a pretzel. "oh. i don't know about that." she replied, attempting to be airy but grimaced as her legs started to slip. uh oh. "i'm not loving yoga." UNDERSTATEMENT.
claramae opened one eye. “i thought you’d appreciate this.” there was nothing but honesty in her earthen hues. she released herself from the pigeon pose, then settling into a lotus pose. “yoga is great for flexibility. it helps with dance AND gymnastics. not to mention, it’s a great stress reliever— when done right.”
"i do.. in theory." the witch continued to frown. "i'm flexible. i AM flexible ... but there's a difference between being limber and .. THIS." as if to orchestrate her point, she twisted a little so that her foot was bent just a bit further ... BEHIND HER HEAD. it was somewhere she felt legs were just not supposed to be. "i think i'd rather be stressed." she admitted. "or work on my flexibility in other ways.." she descended into giggles, only stifling them when the instructor sent her an ugly look.
quite the contrary to the sort of attire and demeanor held at hogwarts, whilst he was out and about in the more western parts of scotland, not to mention who he was accompanied by, demetrius' stress level had completely disappeared, not one posh-looking long cape or pointy hat in his bag and perhaps, even a nonchalant smile on his face. as much as, though unexpected, he had grown quite attached to his job, he couldn't live without days like this. it wasn't the shops he'd come to portree for. it was more the company. and the pubs. and he'd already spotted one, as well as the many students of his on the streets. "hurry now, stellie! 'm gaggin' for a pint."
“ah am, ah am!” missy hustled, her oversized flannel billowing in the portree breeze. “yer awfy excited!” she noted with a chuckle, her dark eyes sparkling. it’s okay though— she was too. missy was content with her current career choices. she knew she was blessed in that way. many spent the working hours of the day being miserable. still, one had to remember to live their life outside of the work place; even if one of the work places practically encouraged you to drink on the job. “but wait— we’re drinking first? deh let me forget about all the sales. ah’m gonnae be pure doon if i miss them.” she tugged on her deathly hallows necklace at the thought.
her remark on his excitement brought a smirk out of him. not a laugh, but only because his stubbornness didn't let him. "wh-- what d'ya mean, we're always drinkin' first." his voice faded out by the end of his sentence once he noticed the other's disappointment. well... shopping it is, then. he turned back, his steps slowing down before he looked aorund the shops. "right, then. sales first. but only on one condition." that was when he glanced back at the witch, a slight glint of mischief appearing in his eyes. "you're buyin' me ice cream."
“crivens! yer not an easy one to please.” her teasing faded away into the afternoon air as she led the way into an artsy looking shop. the counters were wooden and charmed clothing with different moving patterns surrounded them. missy slowly sauntered over to the section she was most interested in, aka where the hair stylists lurked for coverups, capes, and things of the like. missy smoothed her hand over a fabric decorated with a moving night sky. “what do ye think? would you ye tell me to calmy doony if i tried to put this on ye? call me a dobbler with no bizzo in fashion?” missy chuckled lowly.
"right, keep on naggin' me, fashion copy cat," eyebrows raised as he questioningly looked at the flannel shirt all buttoned up on him and the shirt with the same size and pattern worn by the other. "--you're startin' t'get into trouble." he followed her into the shop, keeping an eye out for any familiar faces and a possible way to avoid the gaze of said familiar faces. he was just about to flick an enchanted brush against some scissors that must've been mere decorations for the other garments in the shop when missy's voice interrupted him. there was a soft laugh of sort that came out of him, stepping closer to inspect the fabric she was holding. "but you are a dobbler with no bizzo in fashion, missy." he stated, his fake frown turning into an eye roll soon enough as he gave her a nudge. "looks alright, yeah. it would look quite out of place in sunny 'n shears, though."
“yer the copy cat! och awa' an' dinna talk pish…” sure, their flannel tops were the same, but she wasn’t wearing it traditionally. hers was being used as a makeshift jacket overtop layers of black, with a choker and dark lipstick thrown in to pull the whole look together. art reflected their lives. they may have have been similar souls but that didn’t mean they were the same. missy chuckled, whacking dem on the shoulder with the item in question. “if ah wanted to blend in, ah would say so!” she continued to look around the shop. “tell me if ye keek something interesting?”
the witch was wincing under the harsh light of day as she straightened her sunglasses, dressed in scarlet robes that pulled in at the sides. it was all the rage in wizarding italy, though maybe not so much in wizarding scotland when it was usually far too cold for such fashions. nevertheless, she was comfortable AND fashionable and couldn't think of a better combination while staving off a hangover. when she heard a voice near her shoulder she turned and took a glance, nodding her head in approval. everyone knew glindas. it was the best of the best. "cute." she commented. "you'll have to let me borrow it sometime." when she wasn't working, of course. if you looked closely at these robes, on one of the sleeves, there was a tad bit of charring from where one of the hatchlings had gotten too excited. a sneeze later and her sleeve had caught fire!
there were many things her particularly strong scottish accent brought out of dem, but it was never frustration. most of the time it was delight. and maybe a bit of an adoration. even if he had absolutely no idea what she was on about. either way, this time, right after the quick smack of the fabric over his shoulder, he simply rolled his eyes with a shrug as he turned away to keep on looking for... well, he didn't quite have anything to look for. until he spotted a curious looking bottle stapled with an enchanted image of someone's hair turning into yellow snakes with glowing red eyes, and then back to normal. "merlin's footlong bloody beard, is this real? who'd want their hair to be temporarily made out of nothing'but snakes? or on fire? are we collectively going bonkers here?"
missy took the bottle, long black nails almost covering the lettering that’d set demetrius off. “ah think it’s on sale from halloween?” she nodded her head as soon as she saw the sticker that confirmed as much. she chuckled lowly as her eyes skimmed the description. “ah’m guessing it didn’t do as well as they’d hoped with sales if yer reaction is anything go by.” she lowered her circle shaped sunglasses, sucking in her cheeks as she placed it back on the shelves. “it is kind of awfy. i dunnae anyone who’d buy something to make themselves look the opposite of braw. the idea of it is pure mince.” after that, she finished looking around, and managed to snag a few things for her station at sunny and shears. she smiled coolly as the shop keeper rung her up. “come on, ya wee sook. i’ll buy your ice cream, as promised!”ADMIN MYRTLE NOTE: Don't be afraid to have your characters jump in and interrupt current conversations! It's part of the fun! And definitely don't be afraid to insert your muses into the discord as a whole.
dem's attention quickly changed from the bottles of hair products onto the other, quite darker corner of the shop. not darker as in it lacked in light, but it was short of the abundance of color that any other part of the shop had plenty of. he'd left missy do her shopping as he walked on over, eyes catching sight of a pair of black sunglasses, the frame shaped two of the biggest hearts that would not only shade the eyes, but also hide half of one's forehead. as he was contemplating on trying them on, he'd looked up into the small strangely shaped mirror. it was the most curious thing, seeming as if most of the shop behind him had faded away, foggy almost. and yet, his frame was clear. except his eyes. before he would think more of it, missy's voice had yanked him out of it. he looked over, with a smile. "finally! sticky toffee and clotted cream double scoop here i come!" he gazed into the mirror once more, content with his eyes being back in their places before he hurried after missy.
while the sale could wait for the shopper (most times), this shopper couldn't wait for the sales. not when there were so many to choose from! ah, choices. life was full of them. typically ones you didn't want to make; steps you're forced to take, whether it be to a better or lesser you. as far as trials and tribulations went, those of wealth in the wizarding world either chose to pretend they could buy their way out of any problem life hexed their way-- or, like adora de la fuente, firmly held onto the one decision that would always remain up to her and her alone: what shoes she wore as she strutted towards hellacious times in STYLE. the sapphire haired witch extended her heel out beneath her over the top gown-- typical daywear, of course. "what do you think?" she asked anyone within earshot, eyeing her "glindas." they were all the rage in magical world of fashion. anyone who was anyone shopped at glinda's goodwear.
“ay, as long as you do not wear them on the job laurelcita.” her doe eyes narrowed, zeroing in on the scarlet fabric. it was such a waste. she’d seen those very robes in a wizard gossip mag, and she probably would’ve asked to borrow them in return for the glindas if the fabric wasn’t…well, like that. adora sat back down in her light blue robes, allowing her house elf to delicately take them off. she patted them on the head. it preened itself at the attention. “ir a comprar todos estos.” adora’s eyes lit up as the house elf snapped, making its way towards the shop keeper to take care of her purchases. “what brings you to portree?”
and thus was a usual conversation between the portree visitors. what brings you here? but what wouldn’t lure an everyday wix to the location was a better question; and it wasn’t as if the isle wasn’t busy, even when it wasn’t bustling with sales! such was the case during the easter holiday. while some students roamed it free and clear, while others remained couped up at the castles with their studies...
it seemed like seventh year was composed solely of firsts; especially when it came to holidays. first winter holiday spent away from the bagnold residence in kensington, and now, first easter holiday away from all she’d known as well. to be clear; just because it was all she’d ever known didn’t mean that ignorance was bliss. she was glad that her life before wasn’t all there was. traditions became tradition because of the repeated immeasurable happiness they brought; not the other way around. that didn’t mean the old couldn’t be mixed with the new though; the new life she was in the midst of building— as long as the old was worth keeping. the old in this case, being her parents, seemed to be dead set on not being left behind completely. she’d visited them on christmas day with monty, and easter day wound up being no different. visiting had turned into a high tea with her extended family on the high end side of portree. “do you think it’s odd that mother kept smiling at you like that?” it was just her and monty now, everyone else having recently departed. she didn’t feel like getting up yet. “and then her asking you to tea, just you two?” she made a face. claramae was weirded out, needless to say. “you don’t have to go, you know.”
while traditions in the bagnold house had mostly been positive, for the sayre family they had always been shrouded in expectations, tense conversations, and a round of belittling before breakfast. monty wasn't upset about missing out on easter holidays with his family, or escaping what would be an indubitably awkward conversation with his aunt who kept trying to marry him off to his cousin, even if that meant spending the evening with the minister for magic. speaking of.. the matriarch in question had been uncharacteristically warm during their visit. or rather, warmer than usual. it had been confusing, to say the least. "i noticed the smiling. i assumed she was just happy to see you." he admitted with a shrug of his shoulders, arm slung around claramae's waist. "i'll go. it's not as if she'll poison me during high tea..." at least he was quite certain she wouldn't. it'd be quite the tabloid story! "then at least we'll know what she's up to."
“are you a prophet?” claramae questioned with a quirk of her brows; she looked at him, her frown transforming into a small smirk. “—then what makes you so sure?” she let out a sigh. “...i don’t know how i feel about that, but it’s up to you.” there were worse things than the two of them getting along. like when millicent had thrown her fine china at monty’s head; clarence might’ve found that entertaining, but she certainly hadn’t. “do you want to walk around a little?” she asked, picking a cookie off the near empty display on the lace decorated table.
"no, but if i was truly worried i could likely ask zeke." a quick roll of his eyes was the only response besides that - his attention drawn to one of the scones that had been left behind. he cracked it in half, dipping it in the cold remnants of his tea before taking a bite. "mm, yea, in a mo." he replied once he'd finished chewing, dabbing at the corners of his mouth with a napkin. "me foots asleep, i've been sitting on it for a bloody hour. i hate these blasted chairs.." he shifted his weight again on the high backed chairs, a scowl on his face.
“well, as long as you can ask zeke.” her response was as dry as the sahara desert. with the taste of the treat still fresh upon her tastebuds, she stood, summoning her robe with a wave of her wand. the stand wavered slightly; she held out her arm as the charmed material smoothed around it— then the other. “come on,” she said with an amused glint in her earthen hues, kissing away his frown from a standing position, “that cranky limb of yours will waken up the more you use it.” a little while later, claramae held up a limb of her own to protect her eyes from the sun. “let’s go this way!”
the blonde didn’t have much of anything else to do so what better thing to do? shop for books of course. one of her favorite things to do, she could always use more reading material. the natural blonde has two bags one in each of her hands, happy she'd found some of the books she'd been wanting. as she makes her way across the street, glancing around at everything as best as she could to ensure she wouldn't run into anyone with the sun shining not that she's about complain not when she hardly sees the sun that much. that was until she actually felt herself collide into someone. "oh my! i'm so sorry." she begins, in the process dropping both of her bags filled with books but she'd been less concerned with her books at the moment. "are you okay?"(edited)
monty, as a show of self preservation, was quick to jump back when claramae and aurora collided. the last he needed to do was become collateral damage. “well that was quite the show.” he remarked with a snort, reaching down to help claramae and pick up some of aurora’s parcels as he stood. “if only they’d invented something that could shield your eyes from the sun... like sunglasses.”
“...ow...” claramae held her forehead, looking up at Monty accusatorially. “you arse! you totally dipped!” she then looked at the culprit of her less than graceful fall, and— luckily it was one of her favorite people in this world, so rory received a smile instead of a verbal lashing. she glanced around at scattered books, a sheepish glint in her earthen hues, “...book shopping, are we?”
admittedly and naturally felt horrible about it, she probably should have brought sunglasses with her but she hadn't been expecting the sun to be shining. "that was all my fault really." the blonde admits, still looking as apologetic as ever about it. and appreciating the help from monty with picking up some of her things. "thanks, i appreciate it. and sunglasses probably would have been a good idea but little too late now.. s'pose i'll have to be more careful." she gives a thankful smile, as she turns towards claramae. "i'm really really sorry again, are you alright? i hope you can forgive me. and yes! there's a few books i had to have that came out recently so i kind of went book shopping crazy. as you can tell by all the books."

LOCATION: PORTREE, ISLE OF SKYE, SCOTLAND.
STATUS: CLOSED.
PROMPT: the smell of rain on dry earth signals to the wizarding united kingdom that spring is nearing. though it may still be frigid, icy temperatures skinning the hands of magical kind’s whenever they extend their wand into the day, it’s safe to say that all are preparing for the change in tempo. what better way to celebrate the pending sky blue than to shop for it? the town of portree agrees with this sentiment, hence the plethora of sales they’re beginning to host. home to the pride of portree quidditch team, it’s the largest town on skye in the inner hebrides of scotland. thus, there’s even more hidden magical nooks and crannies in this gem of a town than one might expect. so make sure to check out all of the wizarding wear shops featuring pointed hats, heels and precisely cut ties galore, vintage and gramophone vinyl sellers, book shops, restaurants, yoga centers with charmed waterfalls, the magically modified gym that the local quidditch team practices in, mom and pop ice cream and butterbeer stands, pubs, theaters hosting wada alumni, the grocers and apothecaries, magical art and history museums, and everything else it has to offer. one end is more pricier than the other, so mind where you walk if your galleon pouch is starting to feel empty-- and whatever you do, stay away from the east side eye. it makes knockturn alley look tame.
