grew up in michigan with his parents and two siblings. parents got divorced while isaac was in high school but he has never particularly been close with either of them so it didn't impact him much. he always wanted to be closer to his family but isaac has never been good at sharing his feelings.

has been living in vancouver for a few years now. he moved to the area after dropping out of grad school and the desire to start fresh somewhere he couldn't possibly know anyone. with a bachelors in history under his belt, a couple hundred dollars to his name and nothing to lose, he went north. it was the federally regulated weed that really swayed his choice.

was bitten a few months ago and is unaware of his species status. has woken up in some pretty strange places, but as someone familiar with alcoholic benders, he never really thought much into it. while isaac isn't aware of every single supernatural detail, he's not quite at the "believing" part but he's certainly at the "something not normal is going on" part. wants to be left out of it altogether if possible but his job usually puts him in the right place at the wrong time. it's how he'd gotten bitten, been somewhere for work and some guy he was trying to help just bit him.

pretty chill and has a good heart but tries to avoid being someone with responsibilities or expectations. isaac doesn't like to rock the boat and when things get tough, he usually just leaves the situation for someone else to deal with. spends a lot of his time practicing his drums ( his apartment neighbors want him dead ), going on errands for the newspaper, and not being sober. really used to love the idea of leaving the us but now he wonders if he should leave again because there's just too much going on for his taste.

roommate. taken by bowie . isaac has been living in apartments ever since moving to vancouver - it's possible this is someone he's been roommates with for years or someone he's moved in with recently. as much as he likes being alone, he also likes having a savings account.

ex partner. maybe they were dating soon after isaac moved to canada or maybe they broke up more recently. could have been mutual, could have been on isaac's part, could have been on their's. just fun ex drama.

one night stand, friends, acquaintances, etc.

nathan offered a friendlier smile, eyes narrowing on the man. knocking on the bar top, he gave the bartender a signal. "then, this one's on me friend. enjoy yourself." his exhaustion became more evident the more he spoke, so he resigned himself to going back to sipping from the glass in front of him. the regulars who knew his face were becoming nervous at his presence, he realized.

as much as he normally was grateful for the ability to strike fear into others, as it's saved his life many times, he knew the tension would cause more problems than he had the energy for.

his lips are pressed against the glass when the offer is made and isaac gives a pleasant hum. ❝ thank you, that's very kind, ❞ he lifts his mug in thanks and takes another sip. though something tells him that it's not always best to accept drinks from strangers, the way the man commanded the bartender leads him to assume he's a higher up. besides, he's not usually one to refuse a free drink.

as someone who finds himself as more of a listener than a talker, he can figure his company is of the similar nature. he's been a bit more intuitive as of late and while it can come in handy, isaac finds it exhausting. ❝ i don't have any special perks such as yourself, but i'll keep the business in mind with the paper. ❞ as if he's anyone with any real sway. ❝ i'm isaac... this place yours? ❞

Mind your fucking goddamn business, you stupid son of a bitch. The chant was almost ritualistic now, coming to mind even when Isaac was fast asleep in his room and Bowie convinced himself that the snoring that woke him up was him and not his own breathing. Yet this time, it was warranted with more uneasiness when his roommate had never come home. Don't ask him. Bowie had done that enough times and still went out his way to retrace the man's steps. It wasn't hard when there was a smell that lingered, or when there was a few rumors going around town that he knew better than to dismiss. Don't even look at him. He tried, this time with more effort as Bowie held a newspaper in front of his face at the kitchen table. Usually meant to conceal that he was eating Isaac's cereal and not the stale crumbs of his Wheaties, Bowie used it now to not engage. "About damn time you came in." It left his mouth faster than he intended, the need to instigate stronger than that to investigate. He kept his face concealed behind the veil of poorly printed words. "Did you fall asleep on a park bench or did you actually get lucky for once?"

his back is sore and apart from a few scrapes on his arms, he has no evidence of the previous evenings. if isaac sat down and collected each "coincidence" of his adventurous nights, he'd get somewhere - but the absurdity of it all causes him to ignore it altogether. he has no idea why he keeps waking up in bizarre situations in the middle of nowhere and believes his ignorance is for the best.

the worst part is always going back to the apartment. while he's doing the walk of shame home, dressed in clothes he'd been lucky enough to find from a lost and found, isaac wishes he lived alone. not that he has anything personal against bowie, even if he's too nosy for his own good sometimes, but there are certain things he prefers not to ever be said aloud. he refuses to think too deeply about it.

lifting the welcome mat because he's lost his key again, he can sense bowie's proximity. as he grabs the knob and pushes the door open, isaac is overwhelmed with the tension in the room - able to sense every minuscule judgement. the smell of his frosted flakes being eaten is ignored.

❝ i didn't know i had a curfew, ❞ he chuckles, mostly nervous laughter following. his eyes roll at the comment but he decides to use it as a cover, too exhausted to think of anything else. ❝ yeah, i'll have them call you next time to explain our evening plans... not that i owe you that, since i do pay my fair share of rent. ❞

in his heart of hearts, nathan could have forgiven the turnip mishap. his supplier added a zero, and now he's got ten times the turnips he needs. that's fine. it happens. the real problem is he's stabbed his hand four times in the past hour. each time an ordeal for the sous, who would yelp as loud as she could every time it happened. nathan, of course, wouldn't notice, until then. he needed a break. that's how he found himself at his own bar, 'sampling' his own cocktails. it was still slow, so his sous could handle the prep work for now. when someone approached him, he bristled a moment before greeting them.

"you should try the mai tai." he said, tipping his glass to the invader, a small smile forced on his face.

the first thing he wanted as soon as he was off the clock was to have a drink. it's turning into a tradition of sorts for isaac - with every more bizarre scene he's called to take pictures of for the newspaper he ends the day with an alcoholic beverage. the scene of venue changes frequently, depending on his current savings and how chatty he feels. black + blue was familiar and quiet, with a guaranteed night of warming his chosen bar seat.

❝ i'm not the biggest fan of rum, ❞ or cocktails, which he could sit and drink for hours. ❝ but it does look quite tempting. ❞ regardless of the grin he gives, isaac requests one of their popular beers on tap. he still isn't familiar with canadian beers. ❝ i like the simple stuff. ❞ he responds as he lifts up the glass the bartender brought him.

Gemma grabbed her pen and paper and made her way through the campus, attempting to catch up with the security. There was a few bodies found drained of their blood and she knew what that meant... vampires.

She followed them closely and stopped at the yellow tape. She clicked her tongue and quickly started to write down what she saw before she was asked to leave before they called the proper authorities.

It wasn't a shock, the vampires usually fed on young students. She sighed, quickly jotting down some more notes before smiling politely at the other standing close to her. "It's a shame about these students, isn't it. Did you happen to know them at all?" She asked with a small smile. "I mean... since you're standing here." Gemma continued.

his camera fumbles around in his hand as he adjusts the lens and swallows the lump in his throat. he's used to capturing scenery, parades, environmental disasters... nothing of the murder category, let alone this much violence. isaac figured being on a college campus would stir old feelings, but it gave him an unsettling feeling not quite like what he's ever felt before.

almost silently, he lifts his sight toward the scene beyond the tape, not needing to get much closer - thank god. his usual news badge stating his official employment is tucked away under his shirt, knowing the authorities would hate publicity regardless. plus, it makes him feel even more out of place somehow.

❝ a shame. ❞ he echoes, not having much energy to speak but not wanting to seem rude. probably not a good time to look like an asshole. ❝ i'm a photographer for the vancouver sun, i didn't know any of them. did you? ❞
