otto was born in new york city to one of the heirs to the chevalier family ( known for being the owners of the famous lvmh conglomerate ) and the sole heir of the wolfhart family ( owners of a defense and advanced technology company ), but he didn’t come alone. otto was 10 minutes younger than his twin brother, rory.
growing up, he never wanted for anything and was raised much like a prince. the perfect life, right? what no one really saw or knew was that behind closed doors, the chevalier-wolfhart twins had to deal with an extremely controlling and demanding father that was abusive toward the two boys. definitely not the image of the perfect loving father he put up for everyone.
tragedy struck when otto was around twelve. he had been in a car with his mother and his brother when a drunk driver drove through a red light. otto and his mother survived the accident with minor injuries, but rory didn’t have the same lucky and the young boy didn’t make it. suffice to say, the family was never the same after that.
tripp, their father, became even more demanding and abusive, and otto didn’t know how to function without his twin. rory had always been the leader and his protector and now he just felt alone. but his mother was the one to take it worst, succumbing to depression and using as many pills as she could as a crutch to deal with her grief.
he tried to do well, to do what he could to make things better. he would take care of his mother and try to make his father proud, but he wasn’t rory and that was what they both wanted.
only three years after losing his brother, otto was faced with loss and death again. he was the one to find his mother after she took one too many pills, and sat there watching as the paramedics worked on her until there was nothing left to do.
after that, he didn’t want to deal with the pain, the feelings of inadequacy he felt or the anger he felt toward the woman. so he took a page out of his mother’s book, he drunk and he got high and went into a self-destructive spiral. but that did not fit with his dad’s idea of how his son should act. it wasn’t until the man threatened to send him to rehab and cut him off that he started cleaning up his act.
a year or two was not enough to ruin his chances of a good education ( not that that would ever be a possibility with his name and money ), and, out of spite, he chose meadow bank instead of one of the ivy leagues.

growing up surrounded by a disgusting amount of wealth has left it’s marks on him, he is entirely unaware of the value of money and too self-indulgent; if he wants it, he will get it and there’s that. with his father, it has always been about being first, being best and taking what you want, and he has learned. otto can be arrogant and reckless because he believes nothing can touch him.
he is spontaneous and ready to try every new thing you throw at him. he wants to live his life to the fullest for himself and his brother. he enjoys the luxury and all the nice things in life: fast cars, hot people, aged scotch and expensive toys. he’s super self-indulgent and spares no time, or money to find pleasure. he doesn’t settle and if he isn’t satisfied he will just move on to bigger and better things.
also a charming guy. he has been groomed to take over his father and knowing how to present oneself and interact at social gatherings is very important. he has a magnetic and extroverted personality that draws people in, which is good because he loves attention. he’s outgoing and has the tendency of making people think they know him more than they actually do.
easily bored and restless, otto can not spend more than 10 min doing nothing or he goes crazy. that also translates to his relationships. he can be a great boyfriend, attentive and coming up with big gestures and the best gifts, but he can be fickle with relationships. everything can be going great and he will simply lose interest and move to the next one.
he isn’t a bad guy, but he knows how to work people into getting what he wants and can be manipulative and self-serving at times. otto doesn’t do well with not getting what he wants or things don’t go his way and is surprisingly hard on himself as well as self-critical, something that comes from the way his father has always treated him.
everyone has this idea that he has the perfect life, and that nothing bothers him, but that’s just what he wants people to see. he’s a bottomless pit of daddy & mommy issues with deep self-esteem problems because he doesn’t think he will ever be enough for his dad and he wasn’t enough for his mom, and add there a dash of survivor’s guilt.
but he’s also a certified pro in repressing his emotions. he will offer you dripping sarcasm, a devilish smirk and copious amount of alcohol though. considering the mess that his family is, his closest relationships are with his friends.
he keeps so much bottled up and so many secrets because he would not be caught showing his weakness to anyone. he is constantly dealing with frustration and anxiety on his own and more often than he should self-medicates to help with his sleep. behind all the smoke and mirrors of the perfect life, he’s actually low key a sad rich boy who is still battling for his father’s approval and love. but who cares? he doesn’t because his life is perfect™.
