So today I learned Legend of Korra is also on Netflix

This took me so long but I finally did it! Full body designs for the ninja (+ Pixal)!

To make them I broke down their canon outfits to see if there were any patterns in their style or the color palettes used. I drew inspiration from some fanart, especially this post by @asooffa , please check it out they're amazing (and they also inspired me to make the character sheets more interesting hehe).

(I do have other drawings about the detailed outfits and the design process, I'll post it in the future)

Some details:

Lloyd's Oni and Dragon form are not complete (I'll design those eventually). It's just to show how his general features change depending on what form he's taking.

Jay's bracelets were made by Cole and the other Nya. I meant them to be platonic but they can be seen as romantic too. The other charms represent the entire team obviously.

Between seasons 7 and 8, Kai tried to reconnect with his father and he finally learned how to properly blacksmith. From then on, all their weapons are made by him, which is why they have his signature.

I know I've only just done the main redesigns of the ninja, but I was still struggling with Nya's eye color! I've finally chosen to give her maroon eyes to complement the reds in her outfit, so this means Nya got Ray's eye color and Kai Maya's.

Thinking about Jay and his element makes so ughhhhhh I have so many thoughts about it I REALLY wish they explored his element in the show

Like the fact that Lightning is considered an element of creation but it pretty much only destroys unlike the others' elements. It truly is the odd one out and I wish that was more explored

i think the reason lightning feels so destructive in the show is literally because they haven’t explored its creative potential at all. Like . it’s not necessarily that the element itself is inherently violent, it’s that the narrative has only used it in those contexts. We’ve barely seen what it could do if someone used it to build, to connect, to heal. LIKE. WHY HAVENT WE SEEN HIM BEING USED AS A REAL LIFE DEFIBRILLATOR!!!!!! he’s a walking talking power source. now im not saying use him to power the entire city but like damn. He could be doing so much more

on the show it’s just zap boom pew pew and then we move on . Like……….i think the closest thing we got to him doing anything kinda cool that wasn’t just pure destruction or shooting zaps was when he recharged the battery in the hydro bounty during seabound. and if i recall correctly (it’s been a million and ten years since i rewatched the later seasons) he doesn’t actually do anything noteworthy with his powers during his focus seasons either. DR GOTTA BE HIS TIME!!!!!!!

i think people should be imprisoned for drawing jay skinny . My boy spent most of his childhood hauling scrap around a junkyard he needs to be BUILT and BUFF and SEXY . Canon gave us a scene where he tore his shirt open with the sheer power of his biceps so i dont want lanky and lean jay anymore i want fanon jay built like a brick shithouse where u have to squint for a second to make sure it isn’t cole

It's so annoying because they take away everything that makes Jay interesting, and it ends up being a boring reading where, if you're lucky, they remember that he can also invent things 😭 like his moral ambiguity because Jay IS a character who chooses his loved ones over the greater good, the number of talents and hobbies he has because he's always looking to do new things and because he initially wanted to live adventures, his quick decision-making, everything is always omitted

And don't even get me started on how the fandom erases all his physical feats
