Sajin and I celebrating Friendship Day together.

Since yesterday was Friendship Day, I’m sharing my new drawing (No. 46), celebrating the occasion with Sajin.

Although Sajin cherished his relationships with Kaname and Shigekuni-dono—and lost them in different ways—I became his friend some time later; even though he treated me like a son, we are also friends. Our bond evolved from one of admiration for a captain—and a captain dealing with "kids"—into a deep friendship and a father-son relationship.

Yes, Sajin is—and always will be—my great Captain of the 7th Division and a Shinigami, but our differences and the worlds we inhabit never stop us from being best friends and sharing a father-son bond; we share our sorrows and joys, our moments together, and we defend one another like family.

Commemorating Sajin Komamura's departure in my two new drawings.

Today I am sharing my new drawings—numbers 44 and 45—featuring my time with Sajin. This time, I am commemorating his departure three years ago in Heart of Wolf. After all, even the noblest beings can become corrupted by the desire for revenge.

In drawing 44, I share the moment I told Sajin about what happened before Tetsuzaemon arrived. I held him in my arms and shed tears for him, explaining that although I moved forward, his departure left a deep mark on my heart—or rather, a gaping hole.

In drawing 45, I show myself crying while he lets me hug him; Sajin accepts the embrace and tells me he will forgive me. He says he had no idea his departure would affect me so deeply. I tell him it’s alright—that everything is fine—though I had warned him, half-jokingly and half-seriously, that if he ever did it again, I would give him a day-long scolding. Even so, he confesses how much I changed as a person while working on my own flaws, all without forgetting the noble man Sajin is and was as a captain.

Without a doubt, he is a great captain who drew inspiration from Shigekuni-dono.
