“am i being dramatic, or do i just value my life?” he flips the videocamera off immediately, amusement in his eyes. “i don’t remember consenting to being filmed.” lie. “no paparazzi. this isn’t my good side!” he steps away from her though, pushing his hands down into his pockets as he takes a look around. “damn, this place is fucking creepy. did we really have to pick this place out of all of the possibly haunted places to go to? like i know we need good footage, but .. jesus.” he gives her a mock shiver before turning around to walk forward. “i know you won’t ditch me because then i’d die and i’d haunt your ass.”

he flashes half a crooked smile, brown eyes flickering up to meet hers before they drop back down to the stencil he’s carefully pressing against her skin, the purple temporary ink melting and sticking. he’ll have to let the stencil sit for about ten minutes - he steps away for a second to turn the volume up, comes back with rolling papers and something to smoke. the shop is closed, the place is empty - as far as he’s concerned, it’s all his. he pulls the black latex gloves off and rolls up, gestures towards the tattoo. “it mean anything?” it isn’t skepticism, cynicism - he really wants to know, wants to hear her speak and hang on every word.

her gaze lowers, watching carefully as he works. this is by far not her first tattoo by any means, but she’s always been fascinated with the process just as much as the end result. rowan gets comfortable as he comes back, crossing her legs and leaning back on her hands on the table. “it was my favorite song when i was little.” with a shy, little half of a laugh, she shrugs. “not a very age appropriate song to be singing, but hey - who doesn’t love incubus?” ro hesitates, teeth digging into her lower lip for a moment before she decides to continue. “besides .. wouldn’t it be nice? to have that kind of love? the kind where you just want to escape up into space and stay awhile, stop time. take time for each other, show each other all you’ve got.” she taps her fingertips nervously on the table, drumming them to no particular beat. “...if i can’t find that love from anyone else, then i’m giving it to myself.”

“i swear, i can’t take you anywhere… you’ve got no home training.” despite her scolding tone, josie’s actions were nothing but gentle as she dabbed at the blood on their lip with a damp washcloth. getting into fist fights wasn’t exactly uncommon for the other, but this altercation had seemingly started over nothing, as far as josie could tell. “what was it this time? did he drink the last pbr?”

“that’s not fair.” he immediately responds, but his tone shows transparent mirth. this is nothing but amusing, even if he does feel the tiniest bit guilty over how much she has to deal when it comes to being with him. he’d tried numerous times to push her away but it just wasn’t happening. somehow they always ended up right here. oliver doesn’t wince or flinch at the touch on his lip, the sting dull enough to ignore. pain was no stranger, had never been. “i don’t even like pbr, you brat.” he gives her shoulder a gentle shove before dropping his head with a quiet laugh. “he made a comment about my girl. what else was i supposed to do?”

“alright, i get it. you’ve come to gawk at the freak. well, congratulations. you found me.” a stress migraine was already brewing right between her brows, pinching at the bridge of her nose to try and alleviate some of the pressure. “if you’ve got a demon problem, i suggest you contact your local priest. otherwise, feel free to take your head out of your a.ss and get the f.uck off my porch.”

“that’s .. not at all what i was doing.” brows furrow immediately, dejection in his shoulders starting to ride in with a slump. he shifts awkwardly, pushing his hands down into the pockets of his jeans. “you’re putting words into my mouth and you don’t even know my name.” judas tilts his head to the side, offering her a crookedly small smile that lacks any form of warmth. “no demon problem. lucky me.” he pauses, hesitance written all over his features. “i needed some .. guidance. i wasn’t sure what your hours were but your address was public, so ..” he trails, raising his hands up in a shrug. “here i am. do i still need to fuck off?”

she hesitates again, slowly dropping her arms to her sides. “...what kind of shit?” her voice is soft, resolve already weakening. it’s sad just how easy it is for him to drop her guard down. truthfully, she’s just looking for him to say the right thing to keep her. marley digs her teeth into her lower lip, thoughts racing, before taking a step towards him to close the distance between them. “please. let me in.” she reaches out, fingertips catching his in a gentle hold.
