I've said it before but there's so much delcious delicious angst potential (with happy ending we don't do sad ending here!) from Konrad Curze getting an invoulentary erection while alone with the reader in the early stages of their relationship, and him having a borderline panic attack/mental breakdown over it.
He's so used to being feared and revilled that he immediately thinks she's afraid of him now. That he scarred her. That he caused her distress. Being around filth like him when he has an erection? That must be terrifying! She must think he's about to force himself upon her now! And he's ruined everything, because of course he ruined everything, he always does. Of course someone like him could not have something this good.
He acts like an abused fucking child expecting to be hit. Coiling up like a beaten canid, apoligizing up and down, swearing that he would do something like that.
He's so sorry, he didn't mean to, he's so sorry, he's so sorry-
She sees this and Her heart just breaks. Being embarrassed is one thing and she does not know about sexual norms on Nostramo… or in Konrads head, but he acts like an absused child expecting to be hit as punishment. There is no sign the nighthaunter was ever religious but he truly acts like he has an equal amount of taboo and self hatred at having a sexual response. He's afraid that she's going to look at him like a rapist or that he's somehow hurting her, isn't he? Oh this poor, poor broken man.
And she has to gently reasure him that she knows it's an invountary physiolocal reaction, that she knows he won't do something like that, that he never made her feel unsafe, that she's fine with it. Is HE fine with it? Does he still want to cuddle? Does he want her to avoid touching that area? Tells him he didn't break any of her boundaries and she cares about his boundaries too.
He probably ends up breaking down crying in her arms after that.
Yes they do eventually have sex and there's teasing involved and it's all healthy. But this first unplanned thing would scare him so bad.
