lughnasadh prosperity
a day after lughnasadh in which i made bread that i charmed to bring prosperity to my home and family, and a ritual to pray for abundance... i got a letter telling me i have a ÂŁ600 tax rebate!!Â
not just that but i managed to have a really lucky day in lots of other small ways: a particularly nice staff member at the bowling alley letting me have student discount even though i donât have a student card, the torrential rain stopping the second we parked up, somehow managing to get three strikes even though iâm usually terrible at bowling and finding loads of awesome stuff for pride in the poundshop!Â
iâll be offering thanks to the god and goddess today for such a wonderful start to the season, hopefully it will continue seeing as itâs just over a month until i move out to go to uni!
~â~ BLESSED LUGHNASADH ~â~
this is how i spent my day - a walk, a ritual, and baking! hope everyone has a wonderful day đ»đŸđ
Believing in the power of the energy that we put out into the world is a pretty standard belief to find in most neo-pagan/New Age practices. As a Wiccan, I believe in the Rule of Three and that âŠ
basically a little rant about how âno negativity allowed uwuâ often ends up silencing minorities and making new age and pagan communities far less welcoming than they claim to be!Â
Hi Iâm Ella, and Iâm a writer. We need some sort of support group with the amount of complaining we all seem to do. Especially about not writing, which is about 80% of what being a writâŠ
just written 1300 words for the sequel to my first novel, so i thought iâd write even more... about writing. LOTS OF WRITING.Â
iâm feeling really good about how this sequel is going - about 23,000 words and iâm going strong. another 20,000 to go and itâll be as long as the first!
huge police presence at the preston new road fracking site. peaceful protesters met with intimidation and violence, but it was a beautiful gathering of hope after the hit and run from cuadrilla staff yesterday and the eviction of protesters this morning. #frackfreelancs #wesaidno
Iâve already touched on my experience at dhikr in this post but to recap; a group of local Sufi Muslims run dhikr as an interfaith community space for prayer and meditation at my local teahouâŠ

Iâm not by any means a purist when it comes to practicing witchcraft, but there are some things you just canât do without â one of those is a Book of Shadows. More traditional witâŠ
bit of a short one, hereâs a bit about making a book of shadows (and a little peek into mine!)Â
homemade cough syrup recipe!
this is a recipe i came across at pagancon last year slightly modified (i canât remember for the life of me what the lady who demonstrated it was called!). this is one of the first things i made from my foraged stuff and itâs super easy and very effective. because of the amount of sugar in it it will last a long time too - mine lasted a couple of months before it started fermenting, i donât have any exact use-by date but iâd guess around 6 weeks!
youâll need:
- plantain (this grows literally everywhere if youâre in the uk; roadsides, lawns, scrubland... itâs really easy to clean too) - thyme (mine was from my garden, you can get it fresh from a lot of supermarkets. again, if youâre in the uk aldi does it cheap) - ginger (preferably fresh but ground should be fine) - licorice root (this is the most awkward to get - i got a big bag from tiger for a pound but iâm not really sure where else does it) - sugarÂ
now hereâs how you do it!
1. chuck all your herbs in a pan and cover with water. i didnât use exact measurements for mine - it was about three handfuls of plantain, a handful of thyme, about an inch long ginger root chopped up and a handful of chopped licorice root, and that easily made a litre of cough medicine.
2. bring the water to a boil, then simmer for 30-40 mins. let it cool, then strain it through some muslin. 3. return to the heat and add your sugar (using my quantities, i used a kg sugar), stirring until it has dissolved.Â
boom! cough syrup!Â
sorry this is ridiculously vague, iâm an absolute nightmare for measurements and following recipes. but in all honesty, different quantities wonât do you any harm. also, heads up: this is cough syrup. it doesnât taste particularly good. but it works, it lasts, and itâs pretty cheap to make!
Things that are not true for all witches (even if they are true for you):
-The âRule of Threeâ
-âWitches donât believe in Satan!â
-âWitches canât be Christians.â
-âWitches donât hex or curse.â
-âWitches never practice magick for self-gain.â
-âWitches donât use spirit boards.â
-âWitches believe in karma.â
-How about you do you and donât try to tell other witches what to do/be?Â

spent the day at the fracking site on preston new road for a druid ceremony and protest - ended up helping cook for 60 people and accidentally volunteering to help run a workshop. day well spent! for those who don't know, our local council (in lancashire) voted AGAINST fracking but the government went ahead with plans anyway. if anyone local wants to volunteer, the pnr action group are on facebook
We are blissfully happy you guys
