Watching the second episode of Friends

And guys seriously Susan is the WORST. Say what you will about Ross. Yes, he’s an ass sometimes. And he does some superbly questionable things.

But dammit that’s HIS BABY. Like 10000% his. He was married to Carol when the baby was conceived (i.e.: he’s not just some sperm donor), and he makes it clear that this child is important to him.

Meanwhile Susan is doing everything she can to edge him out of this critical experience in his life. From refusing to allow him to participate in choosing a first name, to throwing a fit when he suggested HIS last name be part of HIS CHILD’S last name. She tries her damnedest to basically make it as if Ross never existed and that child is hers and hers alone and that irritating as shit. It’s childish and just SO ANNOYING.

And this isn’t the only instance in which Susan is a shithead. Honestly most occurrences of the character on the show depict her as being petty, spiteful, and just outright a crappy person. Let’s not forget that she started her relationship with Carol while Carol was still married to Ross (trust me, Carol isn’t blameless there either. But I’m going to leave her out of this rant because Carol shows some redeeming qualities throughout the rest of the series). And then she’s SERIOUSLY bitchy towards him literally every single time they’re around each other. And, I get it. Ross isn’t the nicest to her either. But can ya blame the guy!? This is the woman his wife cheated on him with. The woman who catalyzed his divorce (a DEFINITE low for him). Rather than being understanding and trying to ease Ross’s understandable discomfort, she’s a bitch. Not cool.

Sorry, random rant. I just REALLY dislike that character, and I don’t get what Carol sees in her. I wish the writers of this show had made these two characters better overall, even if solely for the purpose of inclusion.
