Taking a moment since this skin got revealed on EN, but I honestly LOVE the (possibly intentional?) staggering tonal dissonance of Whislash’s skin?

It’s so cheery and bright!! She’s standing in the spotlight, big smile on her face! the crowd is cheering and confetti pours over her in what seems to be an incredibly triumphant moment!

Look at her! she’s cute and happy! she’s grabbing a medal!

…

But…

It’s the Whislash of the past, the one who made it to the top 16 of the Major tournament.

This woman is moments away from getting her arm completely shattered in front of thousands and having her entire career being thrown out the window by this horrific injury. 

She can’t use that arm for the rest of her life, she nearly passes out from the pain of simply attempting to hold her sword with it. (MN-1)

This terrible moment that completely destroyed her career, permanently injured her, and lead her to become a bitter, washed up alcoholic in MN is portrayed as a glorious and joyous occasion. Completely tonally divorced from the horrible fate and reality that lies ahead for her.

It’s tragedy painted over with a sparkly, smiling coat of paint.

What a wonderful metaphor for the flashy lights and dazzling spectacle of Kazimierz covering up it’s putrid and rotten underbelly.
