John has always been the media’s punching bag and even within The Beatles’ fanbase not many people seem to even attempt to actually do any research on the man other than what people in the community or some bullshit website says (yet they seem to have the balls to yell at people for defending John at all). People have been biased against John for decades and still drag him through the dirt 40 fucking years after he died.

Also-Yoko deserves every single person who hates her. This isn’t about her “breaking up The Beatles,” because who cares about that? No-fuck Yoko for doing that shit to John and getting him hooked on heroin. Drugs are a very touchy subject for me so I won’t hold my punches on this one. I wouldn’t ever forgive someone who manipulates/enables someone hooked on drugs and/or alcohol. It’s despicable and makes me sick. 

John wasn’t a saint, but people don’t get to bash him and then turn around to claim Ringo as a “precious bean who can do no wrong.” That goes for Paul and George too. All four of them did stuff that they’re probably not proud of-they’re not perfect and I can’t imagine the kind of pressure they had on them to never mess anything up.

So for the love of god-people need to take their hands out of their pants and stop jerking off to the John-Lennon-hate-boner and educate themselves before I have a fucking heart attack.

I have to reblog this because it’s very important to me and I have more to say here-

I see hundreds of (mostly) teenagers banging the “John Lennon beat his wife and we need to cancel him” drum. It’s honestly is sad in a way because there is as much misinformation as there is truth out there. And in John Lennon’s case, it’s very evident on how that can change people’s perception of a person. For a lot of teenagers, it is probably easy to assume what they hear about him is correct without doing real work into finding out whether or not it really is true because of how widespread the belief is. Especially when considering John Lennon “beating his wife” is grounded in some truth.

Most people I see say this about him (again, fucking teenagers) always scream and throw a hissy-fit about people not doing enough research on John Lennon, even when someone kindly asks for proof of what they say about him. When you make a claim, you have to be able to back it up with serious research since you were the one who made the statement in the first place.

This is a lesson a lot of people can’t seem to get through their thick skulls because potentially being wrong is too damaging to people’s egos and it’s easier to paint someone who defends John Lennon in any way as an “abuser sympathizer.”

But it needs to be said:

Do not tell someone to do research on something if you’ve hardly put in any work yourself. You’re essentially saying “I’m right and I don’t need to back up my claim because it’s correct.” You don’t sound smart and you’re not on some moral high ground because of it; you just look like an asshole.

Never make a claim about anyone being an awful person unless you’ve made an effort to do actual research on them and John Lennon is no acception to this despite what you might think you know about him.

If being told you’re wrong about John Lennon (or anything else) is that badly damaging to your ego, then that speaks more about you than it does about anyone else.
