@words-plots-andthings
I think they have more trauma than I meant to give them...Still within normal limits for canon though. XD
Almost finished drafting chapter 4 of the new fic (10k or so words) and Wangxian are having their first real interaction. I probably wont post any of it until after November so I can focus on writing it, but I have to tease to keep myself motivated. They both have so many issues guys. And I keep flip flopping on what era I want them in :(
What are they?
For the story I’m now working on (for all of 20 minutes because I should be sleeping but writing).... A-Yuan receives little carvings from Wei Wuxian but each one is an animal that represents a character. So far google has been useless to see what people think except for a singular Tumblr post and a singular Twitter post. What do we think the characters would be as animals? It seems pretty consistent that Lan Xichen is a stag but that's about it.
Mo Dao Zu Shi, characters and animals 😍😍😍😍
LOOK AT WEN NING, OMG!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
MAY have just stumbled into writing a multi chapter Wangxian fic..... I won’t post anything till I’m a couple chapters in though.
Ribbons Wound Tightly (Holding Us Together)
@randomreblogs tagging as asked. Thanks for the prompt that inspired me to write again after a year break. :) I’m a little rusty. Also on Ao3 with the same name. Lan Wangji is all too aware of his surroundings, but this is nothing like a night hunt. These are people, not sparing partners or fierce corpses. Killing, while forbidden in the Cloud Recesses, is not uncommon here, the grass and dirt stained red from friend and foe alike. If possible he will refrain from dealing in death. Wei Wuxian does enough for all of them. Swiftly he ducks beneath the strike of a sword, the sound resonating in his ears even as he brings Bichen up to parry. Instinctively he steps to the left and throws off his opponent's center of balance before striking. Wei Wuxian has picked up a new tune somewhere in the distance. Lan Wangji ignores the way that it reassures him even as his eyes scan the chaos for black hair bound with a red ribbon. He takes advantage of the lull the new wave of corpses has caused, striking out and disarming those nearest to him. The scrimmage is nearing an end so he approaches Wei WuXians position surreptitiously. He only means to check the other is unharmed before he takes his leave to report to Lan Xichen and Lan Qiren.
Writing a fanfiction for the first time in over a year and I’m making myself cry. Help.
Imagine Your OTP #523
"Why can't I come with you? You won't even know I'm there!"
B smiled, reaching up to cup A's face in their hands. "Darling, I'm gonna be honest here; I will absolutely know you're there 'cause whenever you're with me, I only ever think of you."
The best advice my writing teacher ever gave me is this: the more plot events are tied to purposeful actions, ideally by the main character or a central character (villain, love interest), the better.
There is nothing more frustrating in a story than actions happening, "Just because." You can get one or two of those as inciting incidents at most because yeah, sometimes things just happen, but they'd better at least kick off the deliberate actions of your characters or you're in for a frustrating ride.
Writers, if you're stuck on your story, ask yourself, "Are there any coincidences I can tie to deliberate actions by a key character?" because I think you'll be surprised by how much that fixes.
The things people think you will be ashamed to research as a writer: death, weird sexual things, torture, etc.
The things writers are actually ashamed of researching: Is this word one word or two?
lyric inspired prompts
ft. Emlyn {part 1}
"It started fun."
"It's almost like you're hiding me."
"I'm not your princess."
"I'm a motherfucking queen."
"Am I just another girl you're going to leave?"
"The more I think about it, more it doesn't make sense."
"Are there skeletons in your closet?"
"I know your ex."
"Oh, what a mess."
"I swore on that day and now I can confess."
"God sent me as karma."
"I'm not gonna let you do that to me."
"What goes around comes back around."
"You just stood there, gaslighting!"
"They just looked dead in the eyes..."
"I've been on my own for a long time."
"Where do all these men find the audacity?"
"I over-empathized."
"It's easier killing you off."
"No one came to grieve."
"I needed some time to think."
"We know days like this can be rough."
"There's far too much to celebrate!"
"Welcome to the show, better take your seats."
"You're so easy to read."
Prompt #911
Getting kidnapped really messed up their to-do list for the day.
spooky halloween prompts for your otp
scenarios
B playfully teasing A by putting fake spiders and bugs around the apartment. A falls for it every single time, yet laughs it off.
Watching youtube compilations of cute DIY Halloween costumes and quickly rushing to buy the needed materials online
Going to a haunted house and B having to cling to A the entire time
Or the two of them are just clinging to each other in fear the entire time
Buying costumes for each other without knowing what the other chose and wearing them to a party
A is too uncomfortable with horror movies and B respects that (even if they love them), so they settle for watching other Halloween classics without all of the gore or horror-like elements.
Halloween music blasting in the car at all times
Painting pumpkins together since they both can’t be bothered with the mess and time that comes with carving them
^ or maybe A just doesn’t trust B with sharp objects and comes up with another alternative that wouldn’t hurt their pride
Going into stores and playing with all the robotic displays
Having their first date at a Halloween-themed carnival or party
Meeting each other at a party after A accidentally spooks B with their costume.
Neither of the two enjoy Halloween, but they do take advantage of all the discounted candy in stores the minute the day is over and raid allll of the shops.
dialogue
"I thought we said we weren’t dressing up this year.“ “You’re just no fun.”
“Aw, don’t you look cute.” “Cute? No, this was supposed to be creepy!”
“You mixed the skittles and m&m’s as a prank?” “horrifying, right?”
“Put the chocolate bar down, i thought i told you those were for the kids!”
“Is this fitting right?” “You’re a ghost, it’s not like they’ll be able to tell if it doesn’t.”
“I bought this subscription because Hocus Pocus 2 is out. Get the popcorn and on the couch asap.”
“I don’t think I carved into this right…”
“Pink is not a Halloween color.” “Who said that?”

Person A: "I don't think I'd ever commit a crime."
Person B: "Are you serious? You shoplifted a lollipop from the supermarket the other day because I told you I was craving one."
Person A: "That doesn't count. I'd shoplift the entire store for you if you asked me to."
Person A: "And then the building itself."
