I let the lead vocalists soothes my soul, my whole being. It’s my first time to be in a concert, I can almost taste it. So, this is the feeling of being free. I’ve missed the half of my life not being able to experience things, but isn’t too late for that right?
The whole place was reeked of alcohol and tobacco, maybe I can do trying some other time? But for now, I want to take this chance to meet and greet the band’s lead vocalist, Peter. He’s at the backstage with his bandmates and I’m here trying my best to fit into the crowd.
After almost an hour waiting, a gray-hair man went to the fans and signed people’s tees, poster, and EVEN THEIR FOREHEADS! WHAT WAS HE DOING? And who’s the guy? I mean, I think I don’t know him. Our eyes met and I kind of see something in the way he looks. Though, I can’t tell, and put words on it. I shrugged off the feeling, but I saw him marching towards my direction, I keep calm cause I can’t just assume that he’s after me but then my speculation is right, he stopped in front of me. I catch my breath, that’s when I noticed I’m holding my breathe since our eyes met. He is a good-looking guy but he’s not my type I mean he has this creamy skin that looks feminine, though, he has that brown chinky almond eyes that will melt and sent you right into heaven.
I don’t know what’s gotten into me but the words that came out from my mouth was kind of ridiculous. “Why are you blocking my sight, Mr.?” When I realize how rude and how shot up my brows are I want the floor to eat me up alive, now please. He chuckles and tapped my head softly. He whispered asking my name, because I’m still awestruck, I could hardly remember my name. Could you imagine that? How dumb could I still get? I t seems like he saw how stunned I am because he laughed and bidded his goodbye, but before he could go farther, I shouted my name, “My name’s Cassiopeia!”. He turned and smiled from ear-to-ear, oh God. He looks gorgeous. I asked him his name and he looked like he just won a lottery. Before we could go to our bubble, the roaring of the fans loudens, I almost forgot that I’m in a crowded place! I face palmed and I felt someone dragging me out of the multitude.
Its past midnight and I’m seated on a bench rationalizing my thoughts. The gray-hair man, Smith told me that I catch his attention because I look at him like I regretted seeing him. I know he knew he had the looks and excuse me for I’m not aware of my facial expressions!
Smith asked for my whole name, number and address but we’ve just met and I’m not comfortable someone strange, I mean not so strange, but still, know my whereabouts. He gave me his calling card and asked me to call him whenever. I just nodded to whatever he was saying to avoid prolonging the conversation. He dropped me off at a 24-hour convenience store, though he wasn’t comfortable me being left here at night alone, but I assured him that I’ll be fine. He was still hesitant, but I insisted and told him that I’ll not call him if he still persists.
I went home just before the sun rises. Entering our house, I smiled bitterly and heaved a long heavy sigh. I went upstairs and play songs on my guitar like I’ve used to whenever there’s an extreme feeling.
After a week, I called Smith, we talked and met sometimes we became close easily and quickly. I watched all his gigs, he was the bassist of the band and I felt bad not noticing him the first time. Its like a dream come true whenever I’m with him, I can feel butterflies crumbling inside my stomach. I’m unfamiliar of the feeling. We dated and travelled to different places. He showed me the world and he became my world; my life revolves around him. But all good things end, good things aren’t for a lifetime. I’ve learned that I’m just a mere challenge because I’m not throwing myself after him but when I did he eventually forgot and left me.
I don’t know it’s this hard, my mother once told, “If things are form easily, it will break easily too. Things are meant to be broken but it can be not if the foundation is strong and if its form in a hard way.” I think I now know what she meant by that. I now knew what she was warning and protecting me from. But even though it hurts so bad, I don’t regret even a bit. If I’ll be asked if I know the things that will happen beforehand, would I still do it? Well, I will.
Experiences teaches us too many things, we’re being molded by those and I’ll be happy being molded. Now, I understand all the things my mom told me, if she was only alive.
“Cassiopeia! There’s someone out there looking for you!” I wake up from the loud knocks, I was hugged by my duvet and I’m slowly dozing off but when I remembered the voice calling me, my eyes went wide open, hearing my mom’s voice send adrenaline. I abruptly stand and open the door; my mom was definitely here! I hugged her tightly as my eyes moisted, she was startled and look at me like I was crazy.
I experience loving, hurting, crying, grieving in my dreams but I swear the second life given to me will not be in vain.
When I hear another sound of bell I look at my mom and asked,
“By the way mom, who’s looking for me”?”
“Oh, honey. He says he’s Smith. He told me that you didn’t call him a month after the concert so he went here even if he’s unwanted. He told me that when he dropped you off at the convenience store he didn’t leave you there instead he waited for you to go home and followed you until here. HE said that he can’t just leave you there, he was troubled thinking of leaving you there, at night, alone.”
My Mom’s wiggling her brows on me and I raise mine in confusion.
