Just because our love failed, doesn’t mean love failed me. Love taught me a lot of things, and for that, I’m grateful.

I was ruins waiting to be explored.

You looked at me if you saw angels,

Little did you know I had demons sitting on my shoulders.

For every poem I write,

A little piece of my soul comes to light.

For every word that is read, a piece of my heart comes to you.

For the words you read were mine, and now they belong to you.

Sometimes I just want to be the sun.

Shining so brightly,

No one dares to look.

Let me live,

wild and free,

with a soul full of tenderness.

The tears you cause were always of sadness and pain, causing a flood of heartache.

The pain in my chest growing deeper and ever so darker, until the night itself was jealous of my darkness. For if you had loved me, you could have created stars.

My pain was loud and cold, a storm of cries and tears.

So let me heal in peace, in a summer day of warmth and smiles.

The dullness in my eyes has finally faded,

And the light has returned.

Like a sunrise after a long night.

I like my scars that dance across my skin,

Telling people my story of where I have been.

You made me unbreakable,

After you broke me.

I put myself together, with love and care,

And made sure that I could never break like that again.

As I laid on my back, with you on top of me.

All I could think was,

“Hurry up, please. I can’t do this anymore..”

But I pretend to love it, to love you.

Because our love was not real and I could feel it coming to the end.

Words do not flow through me like they use to.

Have I gone to numb that even the words reject me,

Like the emotions have done?

Oh I yearn for death.

For the peace, and the quiet.

For the nothingness that lays ahead.

I can hardly call my soul my own,

For you have stolen it in the night,

Along with my heart.

For what I am to do now?

Be the rainbow after the rain.

Shall we walk in the moonlight hand in hand.

Shall we recite poetry and write love letters.

Shall we just love one another as the Gods intended.

Shall we just love.
