Eric Emanuel x Adidas Originals SS19 Collection
→ Work by Matte Projects
→ Article by Abdz
Release
MATTE designed and produced custom product seeding kits for the Eric Emanuel x adidas Originals SS19 Collection launch.
Extending the capsule collection’s reach to style influencers as well as friends and family of Emanuel’s, each kit was built to house a pair of shoes and select apparel.
Fitted for springtime, the collection’s floral motif and sand tones were infused into the design of both the men’s and women’s kits.
Structurally, MATTE’s packaging elevated what would otherwise be a simple container to create a keepsake artifact.
The unique opening experience incorporated the same thread found in the adidas sneakers. Recipients needed to pull the thread, tearing a paper strip that not only opened the box, but also revealed a handwritten note from Eric himself.
Article
The fine folks from Matte Projects have shared with us a couple of really interesting projects that deserved recognition on ABDZ. First of all, let's share their work on a 'VIP' packaging design collaboration for Eric Emanuel x Adidas Originals SS19 Collection Launch. This entire project is creative to its material, design, and just take a look at those floral patterns. It's so beautiful! Each kit was built to house a pair of shoes and selected apparel. Fitted for the earlier springtime, the collection’s floral motif and sand tones were infused into the design of both the men’s and women’s kits.

Everything & Nothing Poster

Wanna keep the 'poster design' love today with Mitya Andrievskiy's Everything & Nothing poster series he shared on Behance. First of all, Mitya is skilled at many mediums from graphic design all the way to UI/UX design. It may sound cheesy to some but nowadays designers are so focused on a certain area of design and it's getting hard to stay afloat with the diversity of things you can do within our industry. For this series, Mitya is sharing his experiments while learning 3d at the C4D42 course. Make sure to give it a look!

Orbikular
→ foundy Cotype
Orbikular
Orbikular is an instant classic in any designer’s toolkit. Residing in the space between a Transitional and a Scotch Roman, this typeface will feel instantly familiar to any reader.
With Orbikular, we created a functional serif family that can stand the test of time, whilst still feeling modern and unique. Each lettershape has been crafted with great attention to detail in order to ensure great legibility at large and small sizes.
Some characteristics are the use of ball terminals, high x-height, vertical stress, and high contrast. We also included alternate characters, old-style and tabular numerals, ligatures, as well as various symbols in order to allow the user to easily change the personality of the typeface. This makes Orbikular perfect for use in magazines, books, and branding projects.
To further expand the designer’s choice, we are including some weights, which are rarely offered in a “Text” font family. Beyond the usual Light, Regular, SemiBold, and Bold, we are also offering an ExtraLight and ExtraBold weight, each with matching elegant italics. Orbikular’s character set spans the Latin Extended unicode range, covering most languages written with the Latin script.
For those complex projects where none of the pre-defined weights quite cuts it, we are providing designers with a variable font version. Using the variability slider, users can select from literally hundreds of weight grades for more flexibility and versatility.
