Flash back to National Dog Day when we welcomed one of the coolest dogs ever to Chicago.
Post-It Bomb #005 = Jake, a magical dog, a wielder of Stretchy Powers, and a father of five. He first appeared in a vacant office about one week ago, and it’s still his to use as he sees fit. (No one else is using it.)
When writing your cover letter, a few pieces of information are essential: what type of opportunity you’re looking for, the skills you’ll bring to the table, and why you’re the person for the job.
Cover letters give you the opportunity to discuss the more intriguing elements of your resume in greater depth or just highlight things that didn’t make it on your resume. Success stories and accomplishments are always welcome.
Before this little guy showed up, Minions had been talked about a LOT around the office — especially the way they say ‘banana!’
While their biggest fan was out of town, we decided to give him a Minion of his own. On the wall you can see when you walk by his office. He found it when he returned on Monday.

Step 1: Add fireworks. (Adult supervision required if you’re doing anything but watching them.) Step 2: Put your work down for a second, and take some time off. Step 3: Eat everything you want to eat.
Weekend-ing harder = working happier during the week. Happy 4th of July!
One thing employers will always want to know: what it is you know about them.
When you do your homework, employers take notice. Start by checking out an employers website, then move to their social media pages and any recent media coverage they’ve received. You’ll be glad you went the extra mile.

Someone here at CareerBuilder saw us building our Post-It Captain America and said it looked like a Smurf. He was right, but we’d just started.
Then, he found the photo we posted on Instagram and commented that he was “still hoping for a Smurf.”
Well, he got one. In his office. And not just any Smurf either -- Chris got Papa Smurf. That’s just how we do.
Corporate jargon, a.k.a. business speak, a.k.a. jargonese = utterly meaningless. E.g. Seamless, circle back, and pain points.
Jargonese words/phrases stylized and slapped over beautiful images = beautiful... but, yeah, still utterly devoid of meaning. Like all of your favorite pop songs from the late ‘90s. Their music videos, too.

When you apply for jobs, hiring managers will try to find your social media profiles. Some will look for reasons not to hire you.
The lesson: Be your awesome, weird self on social, but don’t be *too* inappropriate.
Pay close attention to your body language during job interviews... in addition to everything else you need to pay close attention to.
Make eye contact, don’t fidget too much, and try not playing with your hair when meeting with potential employers. They’ll notice that kind of stuff.
It’s a big day for some of the toys on our desks, and we dressed them up for the occasion. Despite the holiday, they still got a lot done around the office.

Don’t rely on spell-check to catch all of your typos and grammar mistakes. Spell-check won’t flag poorly worded sentences either.
It doesn’t matter if you’re sending a follow-up email, a resume or a cover letter, you need to proofread everything you write multiple times. Read your writing aloud or trying reading it from top to bottom. You’ll catch the errors computers won’t.
