I don't know for sure, but my guess is that because we started just before the school year started, we never really lifted off the ground. Short background (1 paragraph minimum*): Minoru is the only daughter of a single mother. Her mother worked as a news paper writer and was in a relationship with her father when her mother discovered she was pregnant with her. Little did her mother know that the man she loved was actually married and before anyone could find out about it she quit from her job and did odd jobs as long as possible before moving back in with her parents. Shortly after her birth Minoru’s mother left to do work out of town and she was left in her grandparent’s care.
During this time Minoru was raised in a do it all in a bang or don’t do it at all. She was raised to do the best physically possible and while she was very smart she found herself drawn to water and eventually joined the swimming club in her school. She became very good at swimming and when she wasn’t studying she was swimming at the local pool.
Figuring she’d have an easier time swimming she enrolled into Westbank and got in. Before she transferred in she studied at least forty hours for her English skills.
Personality: Minoru is a nice person, often willing to help people out and doesn’t try to stand out too much. She enjoys pop culture and cute things, acting cute and dressing cutely when possible. However she doesn’t really trust people easily and tends to shy away when a lot of attention is on her at one time. Though on another side of her she likes dark things and is fascinated by the way things move. She’s very interested in sciences when she is out of the water. Minoru will usually put other people ahead of her and often downgrades herself mostly as a cultural thing and doesn’t back down from anything and is surprisingly easy to anger and can be very cruel to people during this time.

Minoru wants to be an Olympic swimmer when she gets out of school.

If she weren’t swimming all the time, she’d probably want to go into the field of engineering.
Para sample (1 paragraph minimum in the third person): Minoru stood at the edge of the water on the diving board, her hands on the edge, her feet ready. The blank was fired and in that second she pushed herself off the edge hard and slipped into the water, pushing herself along until she surfaced. Minoru swung her arms and turned to each side as she stroked, getting faster and faster. She dived under and pushed off the wall, heading the other direction. Halfway there. She told herself and pushed herself harder and harder. Finally, she hit the wall and looked out over the water. She had come in second. The girl next to her leaned over the line. “Hey, good job Ando-san.” She said with a smile and Minoru smiled back.
“It really wasn’t that good.”

Short Background: Madeline, or Maddie, grew up in a small town outside of Toronto, Canada. She lived with her parents and tended to be more of a shy wallflower. But, she decided to change that and asked her parents if she could enroll in Eaton Academy. This way, she could break out of her shell and experience new things while still getting a good education.
Personality: Madeline is a polite girl, who tends to be on the shy side. Despite her shyness, Madeline is still very passionate about the things she cares about and holds close to her. She also has a bad habit of daydreaming, which can't get her into trouble. Over all, she is a sweet and kind girl who doesn't say much, but when she does have something to say you will here her.

- Madeline wants to become a writer when she gets older, but she doesn't know if her writing is any good since she's always been too afraid to show it to anybody.
- Despite being shy, Madeline prefers being in places filled with lots of people. That way she doesn't feel like the center of attention and all eyes are on her.

Madeline waved good-bye to her parents as she watched the car pull away. Oh god, she wasn't go to see them for months. Suddenly, this whole fancy academy thing seemed like a horrible idea. Madeline's heart began racing and her palms grew clammy as she gripped the handle of her suitcase tightly. She took a deep breath, "Calm down, Maddie. You're just going to freak yourself out. It's probably not anywhere near as bad as you think. After all, you did want this. Right?" Madeline took another deep breath and tightened her grip on her suitcase. She could do this. That was Madeline's last thought before she entered the school.

Short background: Berwald here, is from Sweden. The capital, actually; Stockholm.
Therefore, he is obviously fluent in Swedish, and his accent is very thick, as well as his English is broken. Berwald moved from Sweden when he was eleven, and then resided in the East Coast of the United States. Before he moved there, he was generally a very open and playful person. However, when he moved to America and joined a public school, people made fun of him because his English was horrible and his accent was so thick. This caused him to hide himself, to become silent and somewhat of a mute. He could talk, of course, but he preferred not to. He didn’t really have any friends except for a Finnish boy who he can’t recall the name of. There was a specific Danish boy he disliked as well. Eventually, his parents were tired of hearing about him being bullied, and they considered moving schools. His father decided against this, and taught him how to fight and become stronger, so the bullies would leave him alone. Luckily, Berwald never had to use his fighting skills, because by the ripe age of twelve he was pretty tall, and his accent and silence scared everyone half to death. And, when his mother was hired to be a lawyer and they gained a lot more money, and the Swede was able to be moved to Westbank [I’m not sure if this okay for what’s about to happen, just tell me if it’s not].
Berwald quickly excelled in basketball and football due to his height and strength, and he quickly became somewhat of a popular kid around the school. However, he never really basked in the popularity, so to speak. He was still focused on his studies, and he particularly found a new inspiration in art and building things. Berwald also wanted to work on his English, and he wanted to learn more about the world. Being in America for a while, he’s never really heard about world history or even his own country’s history, and he grew quite curious. Soon enough, he found himself slowly weaning out of after-school sports, and after his third year was over, and he was fifteen and wanting to take on school in a new light, with a passion for more domestic and stationary hobbies. However, he knew that Westbank peers were not exactly accepting of nerds, and especially since he was a former star. So, that summer, he dropped out and “quietly” transferred to Eaton, signing up for English, Art, and History. He’s still quiet and withdrawn, and his voice is rather deep for his age. He wonders if this year, people will be scared of him again.
Personality: Before he moved to the United States, Berwald was an outgoing and playful, teasing person. But due to bullying, that quickly changed.

Berwald is quiet. Silent, almost. You don’t hear him sigh, take a breath, or exhale. You don’t hear him pant when he runs. You don’t hear his footsteps. He’s just... silent. Sometimes, people don’t even know he’s there. Even though he is tall, he tends to stick to the shadows and scare the shit out of people when he comes out. He never talks his opinion, and he never speaks unless spoken to. He doesn’t even raise his hand in class, and when assigned to do group work, he doesn’t chat. When people ask him questions in group work, he simply nods, shakes his head, or shrugs, and he does this all slowly. It’s just something he’s grown accustomed to, because he hates being bullied and judged. When people say his name, and try to explain who he is, all they can say is one word. Silent. Because on the outside, that’s all he is.
Silent.
Playful.
If, you somehow managed to befriend him, you would find him somewhat playful. He likes to tease people with subtle gestures and actions, such as hugging you at random, but he would still keep a straight face and not even smile. He might even pet your head, shoulder, back, or stomach as an act of “thank you” or appreciation in general, or a “well done”. He might write you Swedish poems that you can’t read. Or draw you something from a folk story that was popular in Sweden and you wouldn’t know the true meaning behind it. He doesn’t express whether he enjoys teasing people or not, his face is blank and his eyes are as well.
2-4 Headcanons: Berwald likes learning about Vikings especially. // Berwald is always searching people to see if they look like that Finnish boy, or sound like him. He really misses him. // To get him to smile, simply say a Swedish word. His favorite is “Månen”, which means “moon” in Swedish. Or, even an affectionate pet name. But it has to relate to his country, or he’ll just stare at you. // He obviously, really misses Sweden and is nostalgic about it.

Berwald watched the Finnish boy offer him some of his lunch. Per usual, he was sitting alone at the lunch table, and everyone was far away from him. He hid his hurt easily with a blank poker face, his eyes staring at his hands as he twiddled his thumbs. His ebony glasses sat neatly on the bridge of his nose, and he lifted his blue eyes to meet the boy’s. He blinked at the food with a blank stare, then waved it off. The boy sat next to him, though kept a few inches space. He had heard the rumors about Berwald, the Swede could tell. Then why was he being so nice? The blonde continued to stare ahead, his face void of any emotion.
“Fine,” the Finnish boy huffed. “I tried to be nice... but I’ll stay here anyways. You look like you could protect me from the big bullies.” He looked around squeamishly, and curled his knees to his chest. And, he stayed there, day after day with Berwald, until the Swede moved away.
To this day, Berwald still keeps a silent eye out for him.

Anything else? (IC or OOC): I’ve based many things in this app off of Sweden in canon and in real life. Since he is tall, I made him good at basketball. Since a popular sport in Sweden is football, he played football for a while as well. Since Sweden was a Viking, he is physically strong and likes learning about Scandinavia. He likes arguing and debating, so I put him in the Debate Club. Even the way “that Finnish kid” acted. Everything in here has a meaning! We all know who he is. That is all. c:

She was scared to be bullied again like she was at her old school. Tightly clutching one of the straps of her backpack and brushing the stray hairs away from her face with her other hand, she walked through the large entrance doors.
"Woah," Laila whispered to herself, "this sure is big." She took in the view of the new school. Glancing around the lobby spotting the main office and staircase. This place was much larger then her old school and had more people too.
Laila watched the students around her, feeling a bit nervous. She had no clue what to do first except to explore the grounds. Reading the signs, she easily found the cafeteria and sat at an empty table nearest to a wall. I guess that was fairly easy. I wonder if I'll make any new friends here and hopefully won't get pushed around too much.

Yeah, Admin H is sort of in charge of that, but, hey, life's stressful for everyone around this time of year with school and stuff. I'll be reviewing them myself and posting the accepted ones tonight, though, so no worries!
Hi guys! I just wanted to let you know that as of right now (10:28 PM EST) we will be issuing a ban on applications for students to be a part of Eaton, due to the amount of Eaton students compared to Westbank, while it is not that large a number, we prefer to keep it relatively close.
