It’s June World builders!
Hope you have not forgotten, for I have been ever vigilant in counting down the days till our next big month of world building goodness!
What’s world building June?
World Building June, WBJ, #wbj2015, or the month of passion and tears, is the month where we lay down the flooring on our settings. This is your sign to start building that sci-fi world of your novel, to flesh out that fantasy setting of your webcomic, to weave an entire universe for that game you’ve been wanting to make.
This month you will have the encouragement of me, and hundreds of others to work every day on a new aspect of your world. The goal is simply to know more about your world on June 30th, than you did on June 1st. Simple? Totally! Possibly a grand undertaking? Absolutely! You can go as hard or light as you want. No wrongs, only rights this month because playing God is full of trial and error, so let’s fail faster!
Overall though, this is also a month to celebrate world building and get down and dirty with it! World building has been a passion and fascination of mine for a long time and this event has transformed from a get together with friends, to a huge following of strange faces come together to do something we all love!
But what if I have no idea how to go about that?
No problem friend, during this month I will be slamming a new prompt on this blog for you all to noodle over for each day. These will be broad prompts that will get you thinking about important parts of your world that you may have never considered before.
What if I want to show off my world building?
Then we will be sharing our work, tips, and resources in the #WBJ2015 tag! I’ll also check the old #world building june tag if you want to rock that old tag as well. Whatever your fingers want to fill out the tag field with, it’s cool.
We had a FANTASTIC turnout last year, so let’s make this year twice as great! Tell your friends, give them positive reinforcement when they aren’t too sure, remind them constantly each day so they don’t have an excuse to wriggle out later!
Warm up those keyboards! Sharpen those pencils! Eat plenty of brain food! And most of all…
GET BUILDING!
