that wage gap study people keep using to argue that trans men are so ridiculously privileged on the same level of cis men is a little. idk. odd. like first of all that is the us. things will be different in other places, especially in the global south. second of all, the same study shows that the wage gap between black lgbtq women and latine lgbtq women is greater than the gap between trans men and women.

does this mean that black women are ridiculously privileged over latine women and need to be constantly reminded of how disgusting that is and how the american system clearly benefits them? no, because that isn't true. clearly. (i'm white and non-american so please correct me if i've said something wrong about race here).

idk. felt like something to point out because people seem to be taking that study and running with it to say how respected trans guys are by the patriarchy and how much privilege we have when, need i remind you, both groups focused on make 30-40 cents less than the average worker. also what other people have said about medians and the massive overlapping confidence intervals here -

where the range for trans men falls completely within the range for trans women should be kept in mind as well. shrugs.

I think a lot of these studies… well I think that a blanket percentage is almost never helpful when comparing groups. In my real life experience, I see trans women either making extremely high wages or living in poverty, whereas as most trans men I know make low wages but are able to have very stable employment.

The main issue trans men face is not being able to actually accelerate in their career and are one of the most underemployed groups; ie a lot of degree holders who work minimum wage jobs with some trans men being able to excel beyond that.

Trans women have a much lower likelihood of getting a degree because of transphobia, but those with a degree are usually gainfully employed.

These are two very different problems that need very different solutions, and we don’t have to choose one over the other.

OP is saying that lesbians who only date cis women (and vice versa for gay men) can still be trans allies.

OP is also saying that bisexuals who only date cis people are typically not trans allies.

So, you agree. You as a bisexual woman don’t want to date trans women because you think they are bad people and are not a trans ally. Fair enough, but don’t try to pretend that you’re making a rebuttal to their argument. unless your reading comprehension just really is that bad.
