Lucid Dream / Astral Projection Journal

I am using this blog to publicly document my attempts to astral project and enter the void state. Because I often attempt to exit via lucid dreams, I will also document lucid dreams that are pertinent to those ends.

At times, I will also post reviews of content I have consumed (books, websites on the subject, etc) and my own summaries/essays regarding theories of reality, altered consciousness, etc.

I am not looking to monetize this content or sell anything. I just want a place to document my own journey. I found it very helpful so far when I can read other peoples' experiences and theories, so I'm just trying to "pay it forward" in a sense.

Journal Entry #4 - 08/09/2024

Type: Lucid Dream

I become lucid several times but lack control. All of these dreams quickly break apart before I can exercise any noticeable effect on them. My memories of them are fuzzy.

Dream #1 - Zombies

I am walking around a dark street at night in a big city. People shuffle about around me. I become spontaneously LUCID. When I do, the people on the street turn into zombies and started shuffling at me. I fly away in fear and try to stabilize myself. I wake up instead.

Dream #2 - Character Generation

I wander through endless labyrinthine hallways of a house with lots of bedrooms when I regain spontaneous LUCIDITY. I decide to try manifesting a subconscious assistant (a character to act as my liaison while communicating with my subconscious). I set the intention that my subconscious assistant will be waiting for me in the next room that I enter.

I enter a bedroom with a large bed draped in curtains. I look behind the curtain and find my dream assistant waiting for me on the bed. However, the whole scene is very blurry, like I forgot to wear my glasses. I repeat the command "CLARITY" but instead...I wake up.

Dream #3 - Jet Pack

I am LUCID and standing in the quad of a big university. I want to fly but cannot get off the ground. I imagine that there is a jet pack strapped to my back, but I cannot get enough lift to take off. I perform a reality check on my hand but the dream falls apart.

Journal Entry #3 - 08/02/2024

Type: Lucid Dream, Astral Projection Attempt

Pre-AP Dream

I am inside a large mansion-like house that belongs to my former employer...

I am outside of the large house and now there is a cute young brunette woman with me in a dress. My dream self knows somehow that this girl is my friend. In this dream, I too happen to be a young woman (which is odd, because I'm an adult male in my 30s).

Strangely, I know that I have to kill this girl who is my friend. I lure her in the night into the back yard of this big house. It is Halloween time, and the yard is decorated with jack-o-lanterns and string lights.

Once in the backyard, I take her close to the fence where neighbors cannot see, and she thinks that I am going to kiss her. I hug her, then I repeatedly stabbed her in the torso.

While standing there in the aftermath of my crime, I start to realize that I MUST BE DREAMING.

Three children dressed in Halloween costumes approach me from another direction and I chase them. Yet this only increased my awareness that it's all a dream. I do not stop to do a reality check, as I feel like the dream is very unstable.

I say to myself a few times “I want to astral project” and, as I chase after the children, the scene goes from slightly-lit evening scene to completely pitch black...like I am running through absolute darkness. I can see some faint white light off in the distance ahead of me. That’s when I started to project...

Astral Projection Attempt

I came back to the awareness that I'm laying in bed. I thought that I heard my dad say something, so I call out to him: “what did you say?”

No reply.

A moment later, a high pitch ringing/whistle begins in my ears. This is immediately joined by the sound of some heavenly music (like meditation synth music and choirs singing very softly). The music is entirely in my right ear.

I begin to vibrate and float, but my lower back starts to hurt REALLY bad. I try to ignore the pain but it becomes unbearable.

I black out and fall back into another dream.

Important AP Elements

High pitch noise and heavenly music, mainly in right ear

In his book Astral Dynamics, Robert Bruce suggests that energy blockages in certain chakra points can cause pain during an exit attempt. Bruce and other experienced projectors have also suggested that physical tension in the body can cause pain sensations when your astral body begins to generate.

Journal Entry 2 - 07/28/2024

Type: Lucid Dream #1, AP Attempt

I was laying in bed (in a lucid dream) but it was not my own bed, rather I was in a hotel room I've never seen before. I start to "see" phosphemes in my vision and thought that I should try an Astral Projection exit. I focus on the phosphemes until they turn into a small hollow rope structure of energy.

At the end of this energy structure was a rainbow-y filter of light, like the texture of an oil slick. I squeezed my energy body through the small hollow of the structure and (thought that I had) popped through the other side...but I ended up back in the same hotel room.

Type: Lucid Dream #2

I was a child at another child's house. I have never seen this house before. It is large and upper-class. There are men doing construction and painting the walls inside the house. I become spontaneously LUCID but I don't remember to do any reality checks.

Instead, I enter a hallway-like room with shelves. I had recently learned the "soda bottle stabilization" technique for lucid dreams, so I attempt to summon a bottle of some cold beverage. I imagine a bottle of iced coffee sitting behind me on a table. But, when I turn around, nothing appears.

Journal Entry 1 - 07/25/2024

Type: Lucid Dream

Can’t remember much, but I did achieve LUCIDITY.

I was in some kind of dark, musty, underground temple or catacomb with brownish-orange terracotta or stone walls. It was like a labyrinth of hallways. There were several men dressed like monks that were running away from something, and I was with them running away as well. It felt like something was chasing me.

At one point, I stopped in a T-section of hallway and looked at the terracotta wall. I then realized: wait, this shit isn’t real. I’m dreaming.

But, before I could even perform a reality check, I was suddenly surrounded by dozens of people all clamoring towards me from every direction. It felt like they were here to kill me. I quickly did a reality check on my palm. I then tried to affirm that, when I turn around, I would be on a beach far away from these people. But then I turned around and there were still more people coming towards me. I said to them out loud “you can’t even hurt me, I’m not scared of you. This is just a dream.”

Yet I could not transport myself away from them or change the scene. I can’t even remember what happened next, but they were all on top of me ready to beat me to death or something.
