The figure in the shadows kept watch. A wave of disgust came over them. While they felt pity for Cider, their actions still landed them on their bad side. All those innocent gems, shattered for what? Her unstable mind? They observed Wrath. Shaking their head as she picked up the pieces. Feelings of sadness, sadness for those lives lost. After seeing Wrath warp away, they stepped out of the shadows. "Hm."
The observer remained wholly unnoticed on Wraths end. She had still been far too lost in her own head, her current task, and the possibilities of what might be yet to come. And so she departed, unaware this entire fiasco had been witness to an unknown being.
The observer would, upon arriving to the place Wrath and Cider had just been, still find more shards. Wrath had been unable to collect them all, and many still remained scattered in the dirt, left here to be even more forgotten then the ones that had been held within the jar.
Enough was enough. They had vowed never to interfere but this was the straw that broke the camels back. They needed to put an end to this. Before they had more damage to control.
They quickly warped out of there. Immediately following after the unhinged gem they had known for millennia.
Their walking becoming faster and faster until fully caught up. Finally clearing their throat to make their presence known for once.
"It's been a while, hasn't it Spinel."
Venom dripped from their words. Glaring at the elegant yet still feathery gem.
She had been caught off guard, fully distracted in her own headspace. And so when she was directly addressed from an (mostly) unfamiliar voice behind her, she couldnât help but jump slightly from the surprise. Doing her best to seem casual and recover from the shock, she spun around on the toes of one foot, much like a ballet dancer, gem shards still clutched on her arms.
âPardon me?â She asked, eyeing the Bismuth before her. This one was so familiar. She knew them. She knew she knew them. But didnât want to betray her current ignorance. Though now she stood here, eyeing the gem, she was sure this was who she had sensed had been tailing her a few weeks ago. Keep it cool. Keep it causal.
âA while you say? Well, no need to sound so excited about the reunion.â
"Oh I don't know, it had been what? 500 years give or take since you've seen me?"
Bissy took a few more steps towards Wrath.
"Seems like you've been quite busy since then, haven't you? Leaving your trail of destruction in your wake. Only for alllll your work to go down in ruins just as you left the many gems who had the cruel fate of meeting you."
"Seems like I wasn't the only one to be forgotten, huh?"
500 years..500 years..
In all technicality that was pretty much how old she was. She never really counted her bubbling as part of her lifespan..which means...500 years ago. Bismuth. She stares the figure before her, before a look of actual recognition graces her face. She stands her ground as the other approaches, refusing to be intimidated, despite her current state still being fairly fragile.
âOh dear not. You are forgotten no longer. How could I forget the most talented weapons maker out there?â She ignored the obvious dig at her current situation with cider, merely tensing slightly at the mention.
âYouâve been following me thoughâ she stated plainly. âSo forgive me for not being as up to date on your situaion as you obviously are with mine.â Her eyes narrowed as she continued to stare at the other gem. âWhat do you plan to do with me then?â
"What I am planning? Ending this destructive streak you've started. I've come to atone for the cowardice actions leading to your little toy."
They crossed their arms, no intention on taking action at the moment. Merely allowing Wrath to know of their existence.
"All the damage you've caused, all the lives lost. All because you couldn't handle being second best. That is quite sad yet it will never excuse the abominable actions you have done. I will not back down any more. I will not take it and cower before you. Not like then."
Bissy took a few more steps towards her. Somewhat sizing her up before holding out one hand.
"But right now? Offering to heal you up somewhat. I want you to be brought to justice but not in an underhanded way. Not your way."
âOh Iâm so proud of you! Looks like little Homi isnât the only one who decided to toughen upâ She still didnât move as the Bismuth continued to step towards her. âI mean, you got a new purpose and everything. Though I have to hand it to you, a couple hundred years of tracking me and I never even noticed.â
She didnât like that. Was she truly so ignorant? Or has it only been these past few weeks where she had had a sneaking suspicion of being followed? She really didnât need this right now. It was all she could do to hold herself together right now. Though granted the Bismuth was making it a little easier. Took her focus away from the mess that was Homi.
âHelp me?â She scrunched her nose up in confusion, staring at the hand. âNo. No. That makes no sense. You successfully found me and have me. Iâll ask again, what is it you want to do to me, if not stop me now? Going to have me arrested or something?â
"I'm not you. I don't take advantage of others weakness. I'm giving you a chance. I'm offering help. Which you clearly refuse."
They paused. It was true though. She was right here. In this state Bissy could stop it.
"If you truly insist on this way. Fine. I won't allow another to fall into those hands of yours."
Bissy summoned their recently perfected weapon. One hit and she would instantly poof. That's all they needed. One good hit in. They pointed the glowing white tip of their long spear like weapon towards Wraths direction.
âOh please,â she scoffs, eyeing the weapon, âIâm not taking advantage of anyone. Itâs not my fault they were all so gullible as to trust a perfect stranger. All Iâve been doing is offering...suggestions.â đ
She darted backwards, just in case the Bismuth decided to ram her through with that thing. She didnât like the look of it, and she knew how effective the handiwork of this particular gem was.
âIn any case, no, you arenât me. And arenât you lucky! Iâm terribly broken if you havenât noticed. But hey! We all work with what weâve been given, dont we?â â¤ď¸ She grinned toothily, eyes filled with a sort of manic glee that she hadnât let out for quite some time now.
âLike look at you, Such pretty little toy youâve made. But if you wanted rid of me, you should have stabbed me already. Now Iâm expecting itâ She couldnât discount the possibility of it being used as a projectile weapon too, and so she would be ready, just in case.
All of them together. âĄ

Yet another scream had came from Cider. Not listening to one word that Wrath had to say. All she could do was struggle to get as far away as possible.
The last thing she remembered was being thrown around like a rag doll. Steven and Pearl were gone. She was left alone with this monster.
Genuine fear showed within her expression, just being able to barely flop out of the fountain. Yet nothing more, only staying in the spot she had fell not so gracefully.
Cider shook as she hugged herself, allowing herself to sob. Her best friends. They were gone. What was this gem going to do with her.
"S-stay away...stay away...stay way..."
She barely got the words out, nearly incoherent.
@wrathful-gem
âSheesh. I see youâve finally decided to weaponize that obnoxious scream of yours, though it has been a while since Iâve heard you use it. Congrats. Itâs grating as ever.â Wrath was still only half paying attention to Homi, speaking in a ramble as she continued to inspect herself for outlying physical issues. She got to her feet, and cursed as her fingers got tangled up in her hair, or what used to be her hair. It still seemed to be composed of long feathers, mimicking the style and length of her hair but it was wrong. She audibly groaned as Homi had her meltdown outside the fountain. This had better sort itself out soon.
She trudged her own way to the edge of the fountain and elegantly hopped over the edge with a ballet like flourish, right beside the babbling Homi. She crouched beside her, head tilted, brow furrowed. What was this?
âOh, stay away she says! After she so lovingly carries me all the way here.â â¤ď¸đľ
Nothing in her current movement indicates any malice other then casual mockery. Though admittedly this was a little odd. And not usually the sort of game Homi plays with her given the chance. In fact...she wanted to see what she would do...
âYou know what, allow me to return the favor. You seem to have fallen and canât get up. May I lend you a hand?â đ
With an overdramatic little curtesy, much like that of a Pearl, Wrath holds her hand out to Homi. To see what she would to....and try to ignore the fact that she had just noticed that her fingers were still a little too sharp and long due her liking.
"No! No! Please! Don't hurt me! Please!"
She couldn't really register much of what Wrath was saying. Shaking even more from pure fear. Cowering before the other, she did the only thing that came to mind as Wrath extended her hand to her.
Covered her head, who was this? Was this gem with the other one? The one who... who commited such horrible actions to Steven and Pearl?
Where...where was the other one? Was this some kind of trick?
"I... I don't even know you!"
She managed to babble this out, eyes closed tightly shut.
"Please, I'll do what you want. Just don't hurt me. Please."
Cider pleaded, her voice never raising beyond what she needed to.
"I... I won't tell anyone just leave us be!"
It was hard to hide the flicker of a snarl that flashed across her face at that. How long was this going to last? It wasnât appealing in any way, and was far to reminiscent of the pathetic, useless lump of a gem that Homi had once been. She had somewhat regressed before when recovering from a darkened state but never like this. Usually just clingy. And that was manageable.
She snapped her open hand closed in irritation and drew back, standing at full height, face righted back to neutral.
âCome now Homi, donât be like that. After all weâve been through?â She started twirling her newly feathered hair around a finger as she spoke, then seemed to realize she was fiddling for once and flicked it over her shoulder.
âAnd tell who? Whose us? Last time I checked itâs just me and you around here, hon.â â¤ď¸
Homi? Why was she being called that? She certainly didn't go by that name. Nor did she know anyone else who would.
That was rather odd. It took a few moments to calm down, once she realized there was no attacks. She wasn't being harmed, just mocked?
Not that it mattered, she wasn't being harmed. She was safe. Yet the image of the scene that Cider recalled as if it were just moments before. Most likely because she thought it was just merely moments before.
"Where am I...? Wheres...wheres the other one? The crazy gem who was just here...?
She was so angry... "
Cider babbled once more. Barely making any sense. Sounding more hysterical by the moment, trying to make sense of her surroundings and who this was.
âYou seriously donât remember anythingâ Wrath remarked dryly, just staring at Homi, trying to ignore the dull feelings of terrible unease threatening to well up within her. It seemed like she really may have reverted to way back when. Right at the beginning. But she would continue to ask, just to be sure. No use in getting all worried just yet. But this new persona of Cider was truly grating on her already. Couldnât even seem to speak without seeming like she would cry.
âYou brought me here after all. You yourself it would stop us from mutating into nasty beasts. Mostly successful?â She tugged at her feather hair again, hating it. Willing it to revert. âThough you seem to have done a number on yourself in the process. Honestly though, the hair was an improvement over whatever this isâ she wrinkled her nose in distaste.
âYou even seem to be hallucinating gems now. Unless your implyimg youâve had an angry, imaginary companion this whole time and havenât told meâ
"Remember what? One moment they were there, then they were *gone.* The next moment I'm here..."
She nearly broke right there. Tears had threatened to spill over.
"Why do you keep calling me that? My name is Spinel."
Fingers dug into her arms, perhaps the pain could ground her more. Keeping her from breaking fully completely infront of this rather unkind gem. Why was she here? Why did it matter?
It wasn't like there wasn't anything she could go back to. All her friends, gone. The rest of the gems would only be in danger if she were around.
The twinges of unease continued to build the more Homi spoke. It sounded like she believed she had only just been with some people, along with not recognizing her. And the only thing she could think of as being the ones Homi was referring to was her old family. There hadnât been a âtheyâ that referred to anyone but Homi and Wrath since then.
âAre you seriously about to start crying again? If anything it should be me. After all, Iâm the one who seems to have been forgotten by a gem Iâve known a good four centuries nowâ sheâs frowning now, unable to keep a neutral face any longer.
âDonât believe me? Check your gem or whatever. I bet you have stuff in there you didnât have four hundred years ago. Like that weird spearâ Wrath knew for that hadnt been there the day she had attacked. And if it had been, it had been surely underused. She was still trying to sound somewhat disinterested, but she knew tiny bits of desperation were tinging the edges of her words.
Cider became more panicked at she listened, what was she talking about? It was impossible for her to have known this strange looking gem. She was in the garden all for years until a decade ago. No way to have known anyone else before then.
She appeared to be a Spinel like her although she didn't seem very friendly or as playful as they were intended to be. Wraths presence was unnerving her, adding onto the seemingly fresh grief and fear.
"I don't know what you're talking about, I'm sorry I really am. I don't think it's...possible..."
Cider trailed off as she glanced down to her own chest, startled by the sudden change in her own appearance. Clothes too dull and dark for her liking, plain and not much to look at.
Her gem placement was flipped. A shaky hand was placed over her gem, nothing made sense. Nothing added up.
Heeding Wraths ever so friendly advice, she had reached into her gem. Grabbing the first thing she got a hold of, pulling out a glass jar filled with glittering pieces of gem shards.
Cider frozen upon realization of what they were. She felt absolutely sick, horrified. What was that doing inside her gem? Why was she holding onto...
She didn't get to finish that thought properly, the glass jar slipping from her grasp and falling to the ground. Breaking upon impact. Scattering shards of gem and glass everywhere. All over herself as well.
Frozen to her spot, unable to even let out a scream.
Oh what a glorious thing chance was sometimes. Wrath hadnât had any way of knowing what Cider would pull out of her gem, or if she would even listen in the first place. But here, right now, watching the amnesiac Ciders reaction to her own terrible deeds was truly amusing.
âOh yes. I almost forgot about those. You always did like to take souvenirsâ she bent down and deftly scooped up a single shard, examining it dispassionately. It was impossible to tell which of her victims this had come from. There really had been so very many, and that remained of them now now lay scattered, discarded across the ground. It was visuals like these that always proved to wrath how insignificant everyone actually was. Reduced to this unrecognizable mass of glittering shards. None more distinct them the other.
âYou were calling out about a monster when you first arrived here, as I recall. Perhaps you were actually just referring to yourselfâ
"W-what?"
She finally managed to get one word out. Was she the one who...who did that? That didn't make sense, how could she do something so horrible? Shattering another gem? By the looks of it, many gems.
Cider felt sick. She could never raise a hand to another much less shatter a gem. Yet the evidence before her said otherwise. Was she truly the one who did this?
Her eyes went from the gruesome mess to the other gem. Not showing an ounce of emotion towards the... the horrific so called souvenirs.
The next thing Cider knew, she was up and running off. Towards the warp. Running as fast as she could, something that was different from her behaviour from all those years ago. Instead of staying in place, allowing herself to take whatever the other had to dish out. Be it verbal or other.
Leaving Wrath with the mess Cider had made herself.
âYou heard meâ she said causally, crossing her arms and eyeing the panicking Cider with barely concealed glee. Sure, this demeanor was annoying, but there was almost something hilariously cathartic about watching Cider react to the things she herself had done. Watching Cider view herself through the lens of an outsider. She was also trying to ignore the lingering fear of being forgotten, in relishing in the current beautiful facial expressions flashing across her counterparts face.
Then she took off without a word, leaving the glittering remains behind in what was obviously a panic. Wrath didnât even stop her. Merely watching her warp away before she started scooping up the shards. She knew she wasnât about to get all of them, especially with a smashed jar, but she could bet a good portion of them. She counted as she collected, trying to ease her mind. Sure this was funny, but it would stop being so very quickly should her memory never return. What would she do then? As fun as it had been first time around, she wasnât sure she could deal with repeating the process of dependent manipulation all over again. And then what would she do with herself? She wasnât ready, and once more, this would be a very stupid way for it to end.
Once she finished collecting what she could, she slowly made her own way back to the warp, following Cider back to whence they came, hoping she could figure out what to do about this situation.
