Are fucking kidding me? I have been sitting at home and constantly watching the news after the events of yesterday. For those of you who are wondering, I am a junior at REYNOLDS HIGH SCHOOL! I was there when the shooter kept running in the halls trying to open the doors and get in. I was there in the dark praying and crying while my librarian kept saying ” they’ll have to kill me before they touch my kids” I have known her for three years, her determination to keep us safe broke her heart. Seeing this, that little children need protection in school. Are we sending kids to a battlefield? I have three little brothers ranging from 5-10, and still people have the nerve to speak about the second amendment? Really? I can’t even type anymore. I’m so disgusted and frustrated. When will you realize that it’s important to have gun control? When a shooter is pointing a gun at your child? Is that when you’ll realize that guns aren’t something to be kept around. People say it’s a free country but honesty, this country is more oppressed and diseased than any other country.
Show me ONE instance where gun control and gun free zones prevented school shootings.
Stricter Gun control laws won’t solve anything. People break the law regardless. People say guns kill people. No, the person who’s holding the gun is dangerous. After all, a person driving has the potential to be a completely safe driver, or an 80 mph speeding bullet. Most of the people who do the shootings tend to be mentally unstable. They’ll manage to get a gun regardless of stricter gun control laws. If anything, stricter gun control will put civilians in MORE in danger

Did you know there’s only been one mass shooting in the UK since 1996 and that was in 2010??? Did you know the shooter was known by everyone within a good number of miles. Did you know every single victim was known by everyone within a good number of miles?? This man shot his own family then went to the next village over and gunned old people, young people, whoever was out for a trip to the beach or just in their tiny-ass home town from the window of his car. He then ended his own life.
That is not a normal thing to happen, it shook the whole of Cumbria to the heart, let alone the rest of the UK. It was horrific and we pray it’ll never happen again.
But you guys?? Your messed up country with no fucking gun control???? You get this shit multiple times a year. Now maybe it’s because I know people in that part of Cumbria that it hit so close to home, or maybe it’s just because mass shootings aren’t fucking normal, but to me gun regulations would prevent this shit. Because they do prevent this shit. Because if you can’t get hold of the guns you can’t hurt people. And if nobody has guns, nobody can use their guns against each other. I don’t give a fuck if you have one for that one chance that someone tries to kill you.
You live in a country that revolves around “who has the biggest weapon?” and you pay the price for it in lives every couple of months. so don’t say gun regulations will hurt more people because you are just a selfish little shit who doesn’t see how backwards your country is.
No we’re not a perfect country. No we can’t protect everyone. All countries have their pros and cons. If you think the United States’ gun violence is the worst, you’d need a reality check. Between people getting stoned in Saudi Arabia for being women, being arrested because of your sexuality in Russia, Innocent people getting gassed on the streets in the Middle East. We’re in pretty good shape. Murder is against the law and yet people still do it, bank robberies are illegal, but people still do it, Forgery is illegal, but people still do it. If we make stricter gun control laws, what’s gonna stop someone from putting a bullet in someone’s head? A law that says you can’t? PEOPLE WILL COMMIT CRIMES REGARDLESS OF LAWS.

I agree with you entirely @larvitarse, the person you’re talking with is making no sense! Sure, everyone fears murderous people, but here in the UK we, in general, do NOT fear people running into our schools and shooting everyone! I don’t see why the user is fighting so hard against gun control, what do they want guns in America for so much anyway?
Here in Australia there is gun violence. But do you know who is involved in it? Well, it isn't desperate, mentally ill children who have gotten a hold of their parents' guns. It is isn't hateful, insular, mentally ill adults who went and applied for a gun the day before. It isn't domestic violence related, where either an abusive partner or snapped victim gets the household gun. It isn't hunting accidents or racists or jumpy neighbourhood watch. It isn't even muggers. It is almost entirely contained to gangs.
So yes some people will get a hold of guns. But with stricter laws the only people who can get access to illegal firearms are people with connections. And most of their gun violence is directed at rival gangers or police. It is a big deal when we have a drive-by shooting. It is a huge deal when we have a mass shooting. Because they are SO unheard of comparatively. You can get guns in Australia. But you have to undertake police checks, proper training, it has to be kept in a secure place (and they do check) and you have to have a good reason for the firearm. Like I live on a rural property and may need to shoot feral animals. It may not be perfect, but it sure works a lot better than the USA.

This is my kitty cat, Pumpkin. As you can see, there’s something that’s wrong with his eye! He’ll need to get it removed, as it’s very very painful for him.
The procedure is 3000$.
The issue? My mother doesn’t have a job, and I don’t have a car or a license to get one myself. She’s searching now, but even if she finds one, there’s not going to be any chance we can raise the money for him ourselves.
If we can’t raise enough money for him, we’ll have to put him down. I love Pumpkin so much, and I’d hate for him to have to be put asleep.
