Wrestling is Fun! returns this Saturday in Philadelphia, and will also be streaming LIVE on IWTV! 

The Banana Championship will be returning, and four singles matches will determine four participants for the tournament to crown the new champion.

Additionally, two singles matches and a tag team match have been signed. Full details below:

National Pro Wrestling Day 2020 Results (A CHIKARA & Wrestling is Fun! co-promotion)

1) Devantes/Lance Steel/Tunku Amir defeated Forged (JoSue Ibañez/Xavier Faraday/Joshua Wells) in 7:44 when Tunku pinned Faraday.

2) Dan Champion pinned Callux the Castigator in 6:03.

3) F.I.S.T. (Icarus/Travis Huckabee) made quick work of Mike Maraldo/Tony Webb, winning in just 3:43.

4) The Colony (Green Ant/Thief Ant) beat Frightmare/Kobald in 7:30 when Green pinned Kobald.

5) Ophidian was victorious over Still Life With Apricots And Pears in 9:50.

6) Razerhawk used his “Razer’s Edge” to pin Rocco Gibraltor in just 1:58.

7) Lucas Calhoun defeated Tunku Amir in 4:39.

8) The Spoiler/Sonny Defarge emerged victorious over Boomer Hatfield/ZERO in 9:48, when Defarge pinned Boomer.

9) Matt Makowski beat Jigsaw in 10:36.

Last month at the Young Lions Cup XVI event, Jigsaw and Matt Makowski got to face one another for the first time in a trios match. This Saturday, they’ll square off in singles competition at National Pro Wrestling Day!

A tag team match has been set for this Saturday! Two brand new members of the CHIKARA roster, who just debuted at the Young Lions Cup a few weeks ago, team up with two more seasoned members of the roster.

While still a young lion himself, Boomer Hatfield has made tremendous strides in the year and a half he’s been a professional. He will team with ZERO, a legitimate businessman, to take on a self-proclaimed legitimate businessman in Sonny Defarge, the most senior competitor in this contest, who is partnering with The Spoiler.

2019 was the year Still Life With Apricots and Pears became their own person. With a record breaking Young Lions Cup reign, they more then proved themselves in the ring. Then at the Season 20 finale, we saw them come in with a literal clean slate as they ended the year strong with a victory over Sonny Defarge. Coming into 2020, they look to keep that momentum going. However, nobody can boast a more successful 2019 in CHIKARA than their opponent Ophidian. Not only did Ophidian change the landscape of CHIKARA with the introduction of the Crucble, but he won the Infinite Gauntlet, defeated Mike Quackenbush in 90 seconds, won the Johnny Kidd Invitational tournament, and won the King of Trios tournament. Both competitors come into 2020 with a massive wave of momentum behind them, but only one will leave National Pro Wrestling Day victorious.

The final match of Mike Quackenbush’s 25th anniversary tour takes place at National Pro Wrestling Day on February 8th! It’s only fitting he will wrestle one of his very first students in Hallowicked. The last time these two met in singles competition was during CHIKARA’s 12 Large: Summit in which Hallowicked was victorious. Mike Quackenbush looks to end his 25th Anniversary tour with a different result on a day in which Wrestling is Fun! will be promoting the positive power of pro wrestling.

The annual National Pro Wrestling Day event is officially under the Wrestling is Fun! banner this year! This annual FREE event is used to promote the positive power of pro wrestling by encouraging attendees and fans at home to give back, and will take place at the Wrestle Factory on Saturday, February 8th. 

This year, National Pro Wrestling Day is partnering with Cradles to Crayons, which  provides low-income and homeless children around the Greater Philadelphia area with the everyday essential items they need to thrive - at home, at school, and at play. Details on the organization can be found here.

The first match announced for the event sees the three defectors and whistleblowers of the Crucible, Xavier Faraday, JoSue Ibanez, and Joshua Wells, taking on Crucible members Devantes, Tunku Amir, and Frey Nassar.

A few days ago, we mentioned the history between JoSue Ibanez and Tunku Amir. A similar history exists between the competitors in this match, with a key difference in that Faraday has yet to see action in a CHIKARA ring. Nassar only has a small handful of matches under his proverbial belt, serving as somewhat of a hypeman for the Crucible.

At “Chikarasaurus Rex ‘19″, Josue answered Tunku’s open challenge and submitted him within the two minute “Crucible Rules” time limit. The next month in the Tag Gauntlet on Night 3 at King of Trios, Ibanez and his partner Joshua Wells eliminated Amir and his partner Frey Nassar, costing them a potential Campeonatos de Parejas opportunity. At the Wrestling is Fun! relaunch event, Josue gets the chance to prove the first win wasn’t a fluke, while Amir looks to redeem himself in the eyes of his Crucible brethren.

Now a team, they will be on the Wrestling is Fun! relaunch event to face newcomers Hermit Crab and Merlok, collectively known as the Creatures of the Deep.

In case you haven’t heard, Wrestling is Fun! is back! The promotion that has been defunct since November 1, 2014, and had its last branded match at the CHIKARA “Tommorrow Never Dies” event returns on December 14th, 2019 at the Wrestle Factory.

While many talents have been announced, the first official match was set this past weekend. The super heavyweight triumvirate of The Proteus Wheel will face Mobius, Adam Chandler, and a man who was in the first ever Wrestling is Fun! match back in November 2011, Dan Champion!
