a/n: It's been a while. I've just been chilling and trying to find something to write about. Hope you enjoy

Algeron was the prince of the fae realm. He was a rebellious young adult, soon succeeding his aged father's position as king. Clicking his tongue, he fastened his belt and put his coat on. His gaze flicked to the arched window of his chamber. The night sky was illuminated by twinkling stars that called his name. Just like every other night, he abandoned his royal duties to escape into the human realm. It was a taste of freedom, he will long for centuries once duties called. After becoming king, perhaps he should expand the kingdom further and invade more spaces in the human realm. His mind continued wandering, while he unleashed his magic, moving quietly through the portal and walking out of a tree.
The first thing he felt was the cold air hitting his face. Next he felt the way the grass got squashed by the weight of his feet. It was so unnatural to stand instead of flying just above ground, but he liked it regardless. Swiftly he closed the portal, marking its location by enchanting the tree before setting out on his little journey. He wanted to get to the lake and search for Peachleaf Bellflowers. The radiant color was most suitable for his hunting dogs' collars. In addition, they were easy to enchant, allowing his beloved dogs to be protected more effectively.
Soon he would be able to take them with him again and hunt humans once more. He chuckled to himself, though his eyes reflected no light. Last time, those pesky humans injured them pretty severely, so much so that they needed healing herbs. Foolish humans…, didn't they know, they were just entertainment? Oh well, putting them in their place was also fun. Leisurely he walked along the trail, thinking about what else he will hunt the next time, he visited.
Miles ahead was the lake, glistening beautifully underneath the moon. You sat at the edge of the water, occasionally throwing a pebble to create small waves. As the second born royal, your claim to the throne was paper-thin, especially since you had an older brother, and therefore you were left to pursue your own interests. However that was only when night arrived, because even though you were the spare, it did not mean you weren't a useful tool to marry off. A sigh escaped your lips. You dreaded the day, you were going to marry some foreign prince. You would leave your home and the familiarity of your own kingdom to entertain the court of a foreign land. Furrowing your brows, flicking another pebble into the water with more force than before. You watched the waves intently, thoughts still running wild. You didn't even notice when someone stood behind you, grinning from ear to ear.
"Good evening, my lady," he spoke quietly. Immediately you whipped around, body tensing at once. The man standing before you was dressed in a simple dark green attire, complimented by a brown short coat. You stood up, stepping back slightly. "Good evening," you responded, relaxing in your stance. His eyes, that resembled sweet caramel in color, reflected a curious mischief. He bowed curtly before saying, "Forgive me for disturbing you at night. I am in search of Peachleaf Bellflowers. Maybe you could help me find them?" As he stood back up, you noticed how his dark blonde hair unnaturally glimmered underneath the light of the moon. A strained smile graced your lips. "Bellflowers? They grow just a couple miles from here." You pointed in the direction, hoping it'll please the man and he moves along. It didn't. He remained, only briefly glancing where the flowers lay. "I see. Thank you, my lady," he laughed, "I'm sorry for intruding, but what makes a lady sit out here so late?" You didn't grace him with an answer for a moment.
"…My family's farm is not far from here. I retreat here to enjoy the night sky," you lied, gaze flicking to the trail back home, "Is there anything else, you'd like to know or may I leave now?" He chuckled, stepping closer, "Yes, there is one thing, I'd like to know before parting." His smile brightened innocently. "Can I have your name?" "My name?" you repeated, narrowing your eyes, "What would you need my name for?" "So I remember who helped me find these flowers, of course," he explained, gesturing to the plant, "Naturally it would also help me find you again." Was he interested in you? Your mother had warned you about eager men. They could never be trusted and you needed to be careful around them. "…I think you can just continue calling me 'my lady'," you replied, slowly heading to the trail, "Goodnight now." "Goodnight then, my lady," he called after, watching you disappear into the woods.
He smiled, though it didn't fully reach his eyes, "What a clever little human…" From his perspective, you seemed to be well-read or at the very least, not naive. Your clothes indicated a higher status than you let on. No farmer's daughter would wear such fine cloth and sit on the dirt. Perhaps you were a wealthy merchant's daughter and thought he would rob you. How laughable. His wealth was beyond whatever your family held, he was sure of that. Finally his gaze moved on to the flowers. Their beautiful color danced between blue and purple, matching the sky. Swiftly he picked a few before heading back to the enchanted tree. He knew, he was going to return and bring his hunting dogs along. Perhaps you will be there again. He wished for that to be the case. He grinned as the thought of his dogs ripping your clothes off amused him.
------
After encountering that man, you didn't return to the lake for a week. His insistence and eagerness was unsettling, making the walk back to the castle far too unnerving. "Focus, young lady!" Your tutor's loud voice tore you back to the present. She was an old spinster, trying to teach you the proper manners of the court. "Your future husband won't tolerate imperfection." You couldn't help rolling your eyes. What were you? A doll? Nevertheless you straightened your back and focused on her teachings. There were a variety of tasks, you had to perfect as the spare and future prospect of someone's wife. Your manners, social skills, education and beauty had to be delicately polished for when the day arrived to marry you off.
Your foot tapped impatiently against the floor. Maybe you would be one of the few lucky women who married for love. The Lord might be forgiving enough to grant you the dream marriage. One that was both politically advantageous for your people, but also romantically fulfilling. Would he be kind? Would he be gentle with you? A handsome face wouldn't hurt either. "Young lady…," the tutor warned, "Surely, you are lost in thought to solve the question, I just asked you, hm?" "Of course," you responded, "… A wife ought to always submit to her husband, as per Ephesians 5:22-24." The spinster smiled, "Good, so your ears do work, after all. Your future husband will appreciate that quality." You smiled, though it didn't reach your eyes. The dull feeling of your fingers clenching into a tight fist grounded you.
You needed to go to the lake again.
As dusk began settling, you moved quietly through the halls, entering hidden tunnels to escape. They didn't lead you straight to the woods however, you had to enter the kitchen hall before entering the final tunnel into the woods. With bated breath, you listened cautiously for any sound. After a moment of silence, you moved into the kitchen. Your steps were so light, there was just the faintest sound against the ground. Quickly you headed for the last tunnel, but just before entering, your hands grabbed a lonesome apple that had remained on the table. A smile stretched across your lips. You were already imagining laying on the ground after eating your little apple and just enjoying the slow waves of the lake as crickets sang their nightly song.
Your feet moved quicker and when you finally stepped outside the castle, you took a deep breath. Naturally, you looked back to ensure no one followed, but as per usual, no one was there. You grinned childishly, as you set out. The air was cool, but not piercing by any means. Given the stuffy atmosphere in your chambers, it was a welcomed feeling, especially when a light breeze also graced you. The forest sounded so pleasant in comparison to your tutor's witty remarks. Your brows furrowed together as the verse from your studies resurfaced. It was so incredibly dull that she insisted on rehearsing this specific verse alone, when Ephesians 5:25-27 shouldn't be forgotten.
A lone pebble got kicked. All your studies revolved around your future husband. Well, what if you wanted to study for your own sake and not your husband's? "It would make you a terrible wife!" you heard her voice in your mind, making you groan. Well, maybe that would be good. No one would marry a woman like that, surely.
Your steps slowed, as the lake came into view. Your eyes lit up, but they widened just as quickly. The man from several weeks ago sat at the edge of the lake. His gaze was fixed on the water, lost in thought. Faint splashes got you to look away. Your eyes narrowed, focusing on small figures in the water. They were difficult to make out, but they looked like two dogs. They were playing in the water and... were they wearing the Bellflowers he had collected? A small grin spread across your face. Maybe you had misjudged the man. With that in mind, you stepped out from the shadows, approaching him leisurely.
"Good evening," you greeted quietly. His head whipped up to your smiling figure. He looked so surprised, you feared you scared him. Swiftly, you added, "I apologize for disturbing you." That made him chuckle. His legs pressed against his chest, so he could place his arms on his knees and lay his head on them as well. "You haven't disturbed me at all, my lady," he said, amazement lacing his tone, "Please, sit down. I would love to have some company." "Are your dogs not great company?" You asked teasingly, before sitting down next to him. His smile brightened. "Well, they are not you, my lady," he laughed, "It is akin to comparing apples to pears, no?" You laughed as well.
Your gaze was fixed on the dogs that were now swimming back to the edge of the lake. "I suppose, it is, but they have wonderfully soft fur, surely," you mumbled, earning yourself a confused hum. "They are like a pillow. Comforting in a way, you know? My company can't compare to that." Another laugh escaped his lips. "You are not comforting, but you would make a wonderful jester." You shook your head in amusement, the smile on your lips refusing to depart. Finally the dogs stepped out of the water. It was then that you realized how big they were. If you were standing, they would easily reach your hips. Perhaps they were a wolf mix. A slight unease filled your chest.
Swiftly he stood up, whistling as well as gesturing for the dogs to head away from the two of you, before they shook off their wet fur. You chuckled at the display. "You have trained them well," you commented, looking up to him. Briefly he tore his gaze away to look down at you. He smirked, "You are much more relaxed than when we first met." He looked back at his dogs, whistling for them to head back to him. Shortly after, he sat down again with his legs crossed. "It can't possibly be my charm when you have been the lovely one," he concluded, his gaze fixed on his playful dogs slowly strutting your way. You felt your body warm up at his words. You cleared your throat. "I didn't know you when I first met you," you said.
He chuckled. His dogs finally arrived, eager to be petted by him. He indulged them, while quipping back, "How do you know me now?" Your smile became tight-lipped, as you suppressed the need to roll your eyes. "I didn't know you were taking care of dogs…," you began, one of the dogs approaching you for pets which you eagerly gave, "Or wolves… They are massive." "So owning pets makes me approachable?" He asked teasingly, his gaze returning to stare at you. His sweet caramel eyes still held no light, but they were filled with an impish playfulness. "You are easily convinced…," he mumbled. You paid his tone no mind as you continued smothering the dog with love. "No, my intuition is just perfect…," you responded, grinning at the dog, "Isn't that right, dear?" You laughed, stroking his fur wildly.
It was positively delighted by your affection, spinning around in happiness. When you pulled back however, you noticed a faint red stain on your palm. You looked closer at its fur, but spotting no open wound. "Were you hunting with them?" You asked. "Yeah, why?" he responded swiftly. Your eyes focused on your palm, shifting it slightly under the moonlight. "You might want to get them cleaned better next time. There was still some blood left," you noted, sitting up to lean down to the water. Washing your hand reminded you of your stolen good. "I'm sorry, my lady. I will take better care of that next time," he said, watching you grin as you pulled your apple out.
You laughed, "Now, now, where is that cheeky side of yours? I didn't mean to make you act so formal." You took a bite of the apple. As you chewed, you looked back to his curious face, before offering your apple. His eyes hesitantly looked at your hand and then looked back into your innocent eyes. He carefully took it. "…Thank you," he said quietly, biting down on it. Slowly he chewed on it, finishing soon after. A small moment of silence rested between you two as you both watched the lake. "…You know," he murmured, "I call you 'my lady', but you're not acting like a lady of your status." Your eyes widened. "You know…?" "Of course, I know," he said curtly, "No farmer's girl would wear such a fine cloth." You chuckled, but your nerves remained relaxed.
You rested your head against your knees, still looking his way. A sigh escaped you. "I suppose, that was a terrible lie, wasn't it?" "It was a little naive," he agreed, though adding, "Given your position, I probably would have done the same." You laughed, "Well, at least we both know each other better now, huh?" Your gaze focused back on the shimmering lake, while he continued watching you. His face had that bemused expression again. "That's not quite true," he said, "I still don't have your name." The dog to his side whined softly, receiving a few gentle pets right after. Your smile dimmed a little. "I don't think, I want you to know my name," you mumbled, "It's just as meaningless as my titles." He raised an eyebrow at that. Did merchants have titles? He didn't remember that to be the case from his, rather inconsistent, studies.
When the silence stretched, you briefly looked over to him. You sighed, "I think, you seem like a decent guy, taking care of your dogs and hunting your own meat…" Your hand wandered to the dog that was still cuddled into your side. You smiled bitterly, "But really, you should forget about me. Soon I will die anyway." "What?" he asked firmly, leaning forward to be closer to you. It startled you, how close he was. He looked… upset? "What do you mean you will die? You're not that old just yet." He knew, humans had a shorter lifespan, but surely, not that short.
That made you giggle. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that." He relaxed, leaning back a little. "It's not too long before I will be married off, so that my father has a political advantage," you explained, noting how his body tensed, "I am of age, after all. There are just a few more seasons left that I can attend before my father will make me settle down." Gesturing to your surroundings, you continued, "All this… late night strolling won't be possible anymore. I will be someone's wife by then." You watched him intently, wondering if he understood your troubles. As the gears slowly turned in his mind, recognition settled on his face. A comfortable silence set in again, as he continued thinking.
Humming he tapped his pointer finger against his lips rapidly, thoughts running wildly. "…Are you sure, he will marry you off? What if there is no one suitable?" he asked. You thought for a moment. "The chance of that happening is very unlikely, but I'll humor you," you began, noting how he pouted at your remark, "If that were to happen, my father will still marry me off to someone. If I were to stay, I would remain a financial burden on him." He frowned, whining childishly, "Well, that is stupid." You chuckled, nodding, "I agree, but hey, at least I will have known you, the strange hunter of the woods, before I die." You smiled so brightly. He felt his heartbeat quicken and the tips of his ears warming up. With all his might he tried returning the smile.
"Algeron…," he mumbled faintly. You barely caught it. "Please, call me Algeron." You hummed, before carefully speaking, "…Algeron. I like it." He chuckled nervously, "You know, maybe it'll all turn out well." Your gaze shifted back to the lake. You thought about it for a moment. "Yeah…, maybe it will," you whispered.
---------
When he returned to his realm that night, it was still dark, and quiet in his palace. His disguising magic vanished to grow his wings and ears back to their natural form. In a daze he leisurely flew to the palace's library. He didn't understand what to make of you. Humans were never a true interest of his. Of course he knew a little about humans, but usually he'd just hunt them for sport to simply pass the time. You, however, made him feel differently. By the stars, you made him feel something, other than indifference or anger.
He wandered to his giant library. His hand ignited into a small flame as a guiding light. He began reading whatever books on humans that were there. Most of them were stories written by humans with notes of his fae scribes discerning their historical accuracy. Most of them have been marked as flimsily accurate, however Alegeron felt certain that the relationships between the characters must have been at least an ideal version of what humans desire. It would be something you desire as well, surely.
A particular story caught his attention. It was a story about a princess who was cursed to spend her life in a tower for her father, the king, was extremely protective. He feared, the princess would die of a snake bite because he dreamed of such a death. At night, when the princess knew no one could hear her, she wept loudly from the high tower. She wasn't alone however. There was a hunter who would hear her weeping. He went to her and comforted her. She found his empathy charming and asked him to rescue her. If he were to do that, she would marry him.
That made Algeron pause. She was offering marriage as a reward? With how you described it, it seemed like a very dangerous reward to give. The hunter would be able to keep her by his side, but she apparently wanted that. A sudden thought occurred to him that had him flush bright red. He suppressed it right away and continued focusing on the story.
The hunter scouted the area for several nights to quietly enter the palace. Despite his best efforts though, he was discovered. Nevertheless, he fought his way up the tower and with his tremendous strength, he reached the princess at last. She, however, was bitten by a snake and laid on the ground motionless. The hunter in his desperation started sucking out the venom to save her, while an enforcement of palace guards watched. He succeeded and the princess was saved. For his great achievement, the king blessed their marriage and allowed them to live in the countryside. They lived happily ever after.
The story concluded, but Algeron thought deeply about it. Whisking you away would solve your problem easily, but perhaps that was too unrealistic. His resources were unlimited however, so he could try to whip up something that could keep you safe in his stead. That made him sigh. He pinched the bridge of his nose. What was he thinking? This was not like him. The closest feeling, he can relate this to is the way he feels about his dogs. He wanted to keep them safe, happy and healthy, but his growing emotions to you were not like that. They were different…, but not really unwelcome.
He was torn out of his thoughts, when his wild wolves snuggled firmly into him. They whined softly. A condescending smile etched onto his lips. He petted them vigorously, letting the darkness momentarily consume them. "Oh, you two are getting spoiled," he chuckled, "Is Papa not giving you boys enough attention anymore, huh?" They leaned into his touch, wiggling their tails wildly. As he slowed down, his fingers brushed against the protective charm made of the flowers. He paused for a moment, inspecting the charm. An idea formed in his mind.
--------
From that night on, you made it a point to go to the forest at least once a week and every night you were there, so was he. He had told you after a while, that after his hunts, he would now always go to this lake with his dogs to meet you. You learned their names as well. They were called Hamo and Wymund respectively. Even though, his hunting dogs were far more comforting when you cuddled into them, you couldn't deny that his sincerity was just as comforting as well.
On this particular night, you were teaching him how to make a stone skip across the water.
"So you have no siblings?" you asked, throwing a stone across the waters. It hit the water three times before sinking. "I mean, I had a couple older brothers, but they died when I was still a small child," he said casually before focusing on matching your stone tossing skill. It immediately sank. A gentle groan escaped his throat. "I'm sorry to hear that," you responded, searching for another stone. He watched the water with a half-hearted glare. Humming he reassured you, "Don't worry, I barely knew them…" "Not like, they would have cared…," Algeron thought as he remembered how he had slit their throats. He joined you on the search for a new stone.
Another stone slid across the water, as you spoke, "Surely, you would have liked to know them, right?" Thinking for a moment, he paused his search. "Not really…, the few memories I do have are rather unsavory," he explained, grinning from ear to ear as he found the perfect stone to toss. You already had found another one and threw it across the water again. Furrowing your brows, you looked at him. "What do you mean by that?" You asked, watching him focus intensely on throwing his stone. It slid once before sinking. He pouted, a soft whine leaving his lips, "…You know, I have a weakness for games and they would always trick me into playing some cruel game where I ended up as the loser." But not with their last game.
When his small form was found staring at his brothers' corpses, there were cheers booming loudly in the palace's halls. A fae heir is determined either by cunning trickery or brutality. He still remembered how his father beamed with pride when he stood before him in his blood-soaked clothes. It was then that he started his education to become the future king of the fae realm. Some nights he had wished to have died instead. At least then, he wouldn't have had to deal with these boring duties and be held down by all these responsibilities. He could have enjoyed the pleasures of whatever sort of afterlife awaited him.
"Algeron."
He felt your touch before he heard your voice. His eyes widened. You were very close. If he leaned in, he could… His heartbeat quickened and he took a step back. He grinned bashfully, "I'm sorry, my lady. I suppose, I got lost in old memories." Softly you smiled, carefully stroking his upper arm, "It's okay… As long as you're alright now." He nodded, laughing heartily, "I'm more than alright now." You looked at him confused. "I feel great when I'm with you," he explained, "I have the most fun spending my time with you." He took a hold of your hands, his grin never leaving his lips. "You make these nights truly magical." You were stunned into a brief moment of silence, a nervous laughter erupting right after. "You are too sweet," you dismissed him, quickly stepping back.
He didn't let go though, keeping you in place. "I mean it," he said firmly, "Why not run away? Together." Now, that made you speechless. You were fond of him, but you've known him for barely a month. You huffed out an airy chuckle, "…You don't even know my name." "Well, can… you tell me your name?" he asked softly. His piercing eyes made your chest tighten. You bit your lip. His gaze briefly shifted to them. "I don't ever want to forget you," he whispered, his fingers softly stroking your hand. There was a long silence before you faintly whispered your name. His face immediately glowed like the stars' light was plucked and weaved to form his face.
In an instant he picked you up, twirling you around the air. You squealed for him to let you go, but he laughed loudly. "Your name! Your name! You finally told me!" he cheered, finally setting you down. He stared at you with pure happiness reflecting his caramel eyes. He hugged you tightly after. You didn't return right away, but after catching your breath, you returned his embrace. "Yes, yes, now you know," you breathed out, "Just don't expect special treatment." His grip tightened before letting go. He had such a smug grin plastered across his face. "I wouldn't dream of that. I'm too happy to mess up now!" he laughed, before a sudden thought got him to quiet down a little.
"Speaking of… I almost forgot," he mumbled, rummaging through the small pouch on his hip. He pulled out a small bracelet made out of Bellflowers and soft twigs. He held it out, however you simply inspected it. His smile faltered for a moment. "It's for you… It's a protective charm, I made," he explained, gently taking your arm to slip it on. You stopped him. He looked at you confused. "Algeron…, don't you think, this is a bit much?" You didn't have a present to give back. "This is the least, I can do," he insisted, pushing again to slip the bracelet on. This time you let him. After it sat on your wrist, he made a wild gesture in the air, uttering a silly prayer of protection from any man that you didn't love.
You chuckled heartily, a witty remark dancing on the tip of your tongue, but it was then that you noticed the sun slowly rising. A gasp escaped your lungs. "Oh no, I have to return home!" Your feet moved quicker than your mind. Faintly you heard him call after you, "Come later tonight again! I have to show you something!" "I will!" you screamed back, your lungs burning as you gasped for air.
He watched you, a conflicted smile present on his features. You didn't even answer if you wanted to run away together. It was for the better, he reasoned. You still needed to get acquainted with his fae nature. He whistled. His dogs immediately sprinted to him. Together they walked to the tree and finally went back to the fae realm. A heavy sigh escaped his nose as his joy slipped away with each step back to his chamber. His wings sparked back and the tips of his ears grew into their natural form again. He lifted himself to his chamber, while silently gesturing for his dogs to walk their own path. With an unceremonious thud, he plopped onto his bed. His tired eyes stared at his marbled ceiling.
Naturally his thoughts wandered to you. He lifted his hand and with a simple swipe, a navy cloud of dust formed a scene. It was you. You were staring at yourself in a hand-mirror. By the stars, you looked absolutely stunning. He was so close to kissing you and instead he simply held you. He should have kissed you, shouldn't he? Human customs are still odd to him. Normally fae prioritize pleasure above all else, so the common fae and aristocracy have multiple lovers and nothing truly remains steady. Fae royalty remains the sole exception. The occasional royal might have a harem, but it is highly advised to have not more than three to ensure that the legitimacy of the heir is not questioned. The titles and wealth of fae aristocracy were also constantly moving, since it was the royal duty to ensure the wealth of the realm was managed well. Perhaps he should spend today studying more human customs as well.
The navy dust changed. It weaved into a new scene, or tried to. He guessed, you took it off to lay down. A shame really, but he couldn't blame you. Yawning he swiped the dust away and turned around to sleep as well. His eyes closed slowly. Perhaps he will see you in his dream again…
Suddenly his doors were opened with a loud thud. Wild barks broke through, as his dogs jumped onto him and licked his face. He groaned, pushing away with his eyes still closed. "Shoo! Shoo! Papa needs to rest," he yelled, much to their amusement. "You rested enough, young master," an old man's voice spoke firmly, "That is of course if you haven't sneaked off again." Algeron clicked his tongue. "Shouldn't you be more polite to your future king?" That made the old fae chuckle, "That is assuming, I'll see the day, you mature into the position." The prince heard him approach his bed. His dogs were promptly moved away, small yelps escaping their snouts. "Now young master, let's get you ready for the day," he insisted, swinging open Algeron's blanket.
As per usual his day stretched on achingly slow. It was the same dull routine. He got dressed, ate a small breakfast and then focused on his magic studies until lunchtime. It was all ever done under the watchful gaze of his servant. That used to be no issue, however now with his ability to watch you, he wished to do that without his presence. The first opportunity he got to indulge, was when the old fae left to prepare tea, while Algeron was supposed to study in the library.
Grinning from ear to ear, he swiped a scene up again and thankfully you were wearing the bracelet. Navy dust formed into a room. A figure appeared. It wasn't you. It was a woman however, so he figured it was your teacher. She was talking to you about some verses. He guessed, it was one of those human religions, he had read about. The woman seemed stern and condescending in the way, she questioned you. It was a shame that the bracelet was only able to show what you were seeing. He longed to see your face again, see if that dreadful woman was making you upset. "A wife's submission is needed for a faithful marriage," your voice spoke, "But for the marriage to be undefiled, both have to be clear of sin." He couldn't help, chuckle at your tone.
You were so clearly annoyed with this nonsense. A wife's submission? He couldn't ever imagine you submit. It was laughable. "What is with you, young lady?" the woman asked exasperatedly, "You need to practice some enthusiasm." "What's the point?" you defied, "I will marry some foreign prince and our only duty will be to create an heir. However we do that is irrelevant." Algeron's eyes widened. You'd marry a prince? To create an heir? How would a merchant daughter marry a prince? No, no, that wasn't something possible in human tradition. While you continued on arguing with your teacher, the fae prince searched for books on human practices and flipped quickly through them to make sense of it.
He didn't need to search for very long. "You are the princess!" the woman said loudly to which you defiantly responded, "Yes, but I'm just a tool for political gain. My father has been trying desperately to seal an engagement for years now, but no son has been interested in marrying the daughter of such a small insignificant kingdom." Your voices mixed together as the conversation continued on, but Algeron didn't listen anymore. You were a princess? It made sense, but it was so surprising. The poems, he had read, spoke about royalty wearing clothes weaved in gold and silver. Were you wearing something simpler? His heart quickened. His face flushed and his hands involuntarily gripped his hair. Oh stars, were you strolling in your equivalence of night-wear?
Promptly he stood up and flew further into the library to grab more books. He needed answers. He needed to understand more about humans. Stacking book after book, he carried the tower with a swift flight back to his desk. With a heavy thud, he put them down. He was so lost in his studies, he didn't acknowledge his servant had returned already. He cleared his throat, gaining the fae prince's attention. Quickly he wiped the dust away, the small glimpse of your smug teacher's expression wiped away. He mustered up his most innocent smile. "I was wondering why you have been more talkative lately," the servant mused, setting down the tray of tea. A sigh escaped Algeron's lips. "Alright, get the lecture going and let's move on." "There is no lecture," he stated simply. Curiously the prince watched as he filled up two cups for them and setting one down in front of him. Casually he sat down.
"…Why?" he asked, only to be laughed at. "You think, I'm upset, you got yourself another pet?" the servant laughed some more, "I'm just glad, I don't have to take care of that one." "She is not a pet," he hissed, his hands tightening into fists. It didn't go unnoticed by the old fae. He hummed, sipping on his hot tea, "What is she then?" A friend. That was what he wanted to say, but he stopped himself. That didn't sound right. You were more than that. A lover? No, you didn't even declare your love for one another. "Complicated then, I assume," the old fae concluded, asking right after, "Knowing you, you wanted to run away with her, didn't you?" "Stop doing that," Algeron complained, "I told you, it is weird when you read my mind like that." "There is no 'reading your mind', young master. I took care of you ever since you became the true heir," he explained, sipping some more on his tea.
Algeron's face immediately dimmed. It was like the memory made all his colors vanish. A knowing look stretched across the old fae's wrinkled face. "You've always been different from your peers," he mused, while the prince continued drowning in his feelings, "Your connection to nature is far more remarkable and there is no doubt in my mind, it was because of your heightened emotions." A dry chuckle escaped his lips. "I mean, if it weren't for that, your brothers would have gotten to you first." "Don't speak of them," he spoke lowly, his tone extremely venomous. The servant smiled, feeling the way magic pulled to the prince.
"I think, it's a good thing," he continued, "All you need to learn is to keep your emotions measured and you will be the greatest fae king the realm has ever witnessed." "I don't want to be that," he countered, "I just wanted to be treated well… I didn't deserve to be treated so cruelly." The servant clicked his tongue, "Oh, what is cruel really? It was a game. You love games. You love tricking humans into standing still and for your dogs to then maul them." There was a beat of silence. "You wanted to do that to her too." "But I didn't," he said swiftly, a brief recognition stretching across his face, "I'm not my brothers." "Ah, so you do have a close relationship with her…," the old fae chuckled, finishing his tea.
Algeron thought deeply for a moment before finding the words. "Yeah…, we are like one flesh." With a grunt, the servant stood up, lifting himself up the ground. "Well, I shall leave you be for now, but please, do not fester in your anger. The scribes would be most annoyed if you set the books on fire again." There was no response following, but he didn't wait for one anyway. Algeron continued staring into space, his thoughts running wild, though not a single one truly formed, aside from simply wanting to be with you.
--------
Your steps were fast, but not quick. Your mind was set, but ran wild with thoughts anyway. Your body was warm, but your blood ran cold when you thought about meeting Algeron tonight. The old spinster let it slip that someone was found to marry you, that on paper, you were engaged, and then there was your older brother…
When you reached the lake, Algeron was already there. He was sitting down, but upon hearing you approach, he stood up immediately. His face brightened up. Your guilty conscious was screaming for you to run. Your steps slowed down, while he walked up to you swiftly. "I'm so happy, you're here," he said, his breath a little labored. Taking a hold of your hands, he stroked them gently. It was then that he noticed your conflicted smile. He frowned, asking quietly, "Are you okay?" You avoided his gaze briefly. "I…," you started, blinking away approaching tears, "I will marry." His grip tightened. "What? There are still some seasons left," he said, laughing nervously. You looked into his eyes for a moment before looking away to the glimmering lake.
"On paper…, I have been engaged," you said solemnly, feeling his piercing gaze, "Tomorrow evening my engagement ball will be held." A beat of silence passed. "…That's okay," he said, making you snap to look at him, "We can still run away together." You laughed bitterly, "It's not that easy…" "It is! I promise, just follow me…," he countered, taking you further into the forest. You followed him, but a soft whine left your lips. "Algeron, please. Don't make this more difficult than it has to be, for both of us," you reasoned, however it fell on deaf ears. You walked for a while before standing in front of a willow tree. Gently he guided you to the wood.
Briefly his eyes wandered to you. He laid your hand flat on it and laid his own hand on top. You narrowed your eyes, watching him weirdly. He simply smiled, nodding toward your hand to focus. You obliged hesitantly.
Suddenly a flurry of blue dust wrapped around your hands. A small gasp ripped through your throat. You tried taking your hand back, but Algeron kept it in place. The dust felt warm and soft, as it swirled into a line. Small sparks of silver glittered across, while it widened into a decently sized gate. When the dust settled into its shape, only the edges moving ever so lightly, Algeron let you take your hand back. "Is this…?" you whispered. "Magic. Yes, it is fae magic," he confirmed, letting his ears grow back into their natural form. You watched him. Your thoughts completely stopped. You didn't know what to do. He noted your shocked state right away, but grinned nonetheless.
He held onto your hands again. "This is what I wanted to show you," he said, "We can run away to my realm. I am the prince and true heir, so I will be able to provide you with whatever your heart desires." Your face didn't change, so he continued nervously, "Of course, if royalty is too much, we can also just run away, anywhere you want really." You blinked several times. "Algeron… You're…," you croaked, stopping yourself from crying. "Hey now," he hushed, moving his hands to your face. Softly he stroked your cheeks. "I know this is a lot, but I promise, I'll be good to you. You don't have to marry anyone, you don't want to," he reassured, but that just made you finally cry.
You stepped back. Despite his hands twitching to hold you again, he gave you space. You wiped your tears away, calming your breath down. You looked at the ground. "I can't run away with you…," you stated, "I can't run away from this engagement without…" You took a deep breath, continuing bitterly, "Without it hurting my brother, the entire kingdom." He furrowed his brows, waiting for you to elaborate. You looked at him again, wiping a few fresh tears away. His legs moved forward without thinking. He embraced you tightly, as you held onto his chest. You closed your eyes, leaning further into him.
"My future husband…," you began, feeling his hand hold onto your head protectively, "He is the cousin of my brother's fiancée. If I were to run away, my brother would not be allowed to marry her anymore." Silence filled the atmosphere. You felt his fingers scratch your head, calming your senses down. Despite his embrace warming you, you felt the fresh air grace your senses. "…I'm sorry, Algeron." You pressed yourself tightly against him. There was a beat of silence before he spoke, "It's not your fault… They are just manipulating your good heart." You opened your eyes slowly, your head lifting up to meet his hardened gaze. "What…?" You breathed out.
"They are using you…," he stated, holding onto your shoulder, "You need to think about what you want." You smiled nervously, "It isn't that simple." "Of course, it is," he snapped, "They're tricking you. Your brother is tricking you. Can't you see?" You stepped further back. He let you, but he frowned deeply at the display. "It's unfair, yes, but my brother's future is on the line. My kingdom's future is on the line. It would be incredibly cruel." He clicked his tongue, a condescending smile stretched across his lips. Shaking his head, he took a deep breath before speaking again, "What is cruel? The only matter that is important is what you desire. I will not have you die." Swiftly he took a hold of your hand, gripping it tightly. His face though angered, shined in sincerity when he pleaded, "We can not die. Just… please, just stay with me." You watched him, feeling tears stream down your face.
You took your hand back. "I can't…," you whispered, "I'm sorry." He called out your name, moving forward, but you already ran. You ran as fast as you could. You didn't dare look back. If you had to look into his sweet eyes once more, you might have betrayed everyone. Your legs burned. The wind against your face was harsh. When you arrived back in your chambers, you collapsed onto your bed. Your body ached. Your mind wanted to cry once more, but there were no tears left. You laid there and wished for your actual death to arrive quicker.
Algeron didn't run after you. His body screamed to form his wings up and fly after you, snatch you up and throw you into his realm, but his mind could not understand. You were a part of him. Why were you rejecting him? It just didn't make sense. He retreated back to his own realm. He entered his chamber, his dogs eagerly welcoming him, though dimming down when they noticed his depressed state. Algeron couldn't make it to his bed, simply falling onto his knees and cuddling with his dogs. They tried cheering him up, playfully jumping up and into his chest, but he just laid down onto the ground, ignoring them completely. After a while they settled down, laying down next to him.
Together they laid there for the rest of the night. Algeron couldn't sleep. He barely thought, because he was simply unable to. It was when the old fae entered his chamber, did he realize the night had passed. "…Is this how you sleep now, young master?" he asked. The fae prince ignored him, though his annoyance radiated into a toxic waft of magic that the servant smelled. He coughed, holding his hand against his mouth and nose, "I suppose, we can study tomorrow. I will leave you be, young master." Just as swiftly as he entered, he left again. It made no difference to Algeron though. Finally his thoughts began working again.
You wanted to die. That was what you wanted. Why else wouldn't you want to run away? To save ungrateful people that don't care about you? They were tricking you. They had to be. They're using your good-natured spirit against you. You love him, don't you? But you didn't love him enough…
His eyes narrowed. He lifted his hand and navy dust set up a scene once more. You were still wearing your bracelet. That calmed his nerves slightly. He watched you stare into a hand mirror. You looked upset. The dogs recognized your face, barking excitedly. Shortly after you put the mirror away, focusing your gaze to your window. Algeron frowned. Are you regretting your choice? You just need to say it. Say that you don't want this and he will whisk you away. Just say you want to be with him. But did you need to say it, when he knew you? You just don't have the strength to say it. He can save you.
You were looking down at the bracelet now, inspecting it carefully. You must have concluded, the bracelet is laced with magic, right? You were his clever little human, after all. He continued watching you going through the motions of preparing for your engagement ball. Every once in a while, he would get a glimpse of you, but you never looked like yourself. There were so many voices as well, telling you what to do. He clenched his fists. His chest flared up in heat. The dogs stood up, swiftly moving aside as small flames emitted from his hands. They tried telling you to get some fresh air. You obliged and went out to your garden, but instead of focusing on the flowers, you found a place to sit down and inspect your bracelet some more. Gently your fingers graced the soft twigs.
A bitter smile stretched across his lips. He lifted his hand. His fingertips delicately touched the navy dust. A glimmer of yellow light sparked. You flinched lightly. It made him chuckle. He made it spark again. Suddenly the scene became blurry, a couple drops of tears falling down. "I knew it. You can feel me wearing the bracelet, don't you?" your voice whispered, "Can you hear me too?" "Of course, I can," he responded, but you wouldn't know. He couldn't make you hear him. Instead he sent out another spark. You laughed bitterly, "Okay, I'm taking that as a yes." You wiped away your tears before continuing, "I wish, I could be…" You stopped yourself, hearing your name being called. Looking up, you saw your brother walking to you.
"You wanted to see me?" He asked, his voice firm. You stuttered a little. Your eyes wandered to your bracelet. You took it off and placed it by your side. The dust cluttered up and Algeron couldn't see what was happening, but he was able to still hear you. "Yes…, I wanted to ask you something," you paused for a moment, "It's something silly, I suppose." There was a beat of silence. "What if… What if I found someone more suitable to marry?" Your brother laughed, "What…?" "Humor me, what if I found a prince who is sweet, considerate and- and intelligent? What if he is also wealthy, if not more wealthy than my betrothed?" Algeron's face flushed red. His chest tightened and his breath quickened.
"You say it like there is someone," your brother stated. You paused for a moment. "You care about me, right?" "As any brother should, yes," he responded. "Well, I met someone… He is incredible. He is very kind," you said, "I think, he'd be a better match." "I'm doubting his royal legitimacy, but alright, I'll humor you," he replied, his playful tone becoming more serious, "If he isn't willing to go to war against two kingdoms for you, we couldn't even consider him." There was a long stretch of silence. "I know, this is difficult, but if you don't marry him, we will be surrounded by two kingdoms that want our people's heads." There was some rustling, like two people embracing. "…I'll give you some space. I'll tell the servants to leave you be as well," he said before going away. After a while you put the bracelet on again. "I miss you…," you whispered, softly stroking it.
Algeron however couldn't focus. His mind was stringing up plans, because of what your brother said. If he simply crushed these two kingdoms, he could be with you. He could make you happy. He stood up with a newfound energy. His dogs became alerted, already strutting over to him. He was flying through the halls so quickly, the wind made the passing scribes and servants lose their balance. His dogs were sprinting after him, barking wildly. They all stopped when they finally reached the armory.
--------
The evening closed in and the ball began achingly slow. Royal monarchs spoke of a great union that shall allow peace and prosperity to blossom. It bored you immensely. Your gaze kept wandering to your bracelet. It didn't spark again and it made your chest tighten uncomfortably. Algeron didn't deserve someone like you as a friend, or as a… The thought made you sigh. Were you so desperate, you were deluding yourself in fantasies? You should have left with him.
"Now let this union have their first dance," your father spoke, earning loud applause. It tore you out of your thoughts, straightening your posture. Your betrothed, Prince James, moved to you before bowing down and extending his hand for the dance. You forced yourself to smile as you took his hand, curtsying as well. Together you walked to the middle of the floor, assuming your dancing position. When the music started, so did your dancing. He was a fine dancer, you had to admit. His looks were also not too bad, but that wouldn't mean much if he was a bad husband. You avoided his gaze, focusing on your moves. "You are very beautiful in person," he whispered.
You still didn't meet his gaze. "Pardon?" you asked quietly. "I was presented with your portraits and was intrigued by your beauty," he said, a hushed chuckle escaping his lips, "I was also told you were virtuous and devout as well. I am all too eager to see that too." Your lips pressed into a thin line. "Virtuous and devout, you say… That is what you want to learn about me?" "Of course," he responded, "It is as our fathers have said, we shall have a union filled with our kingdoms' hopes." You cringed at that, missing a small step. Thanks to your skilled partner, that was corrected swiftly without attracting attention. He smiled at you so innocently, but his eyes spoke of something differently. It sent a shiver down your spine.
Suddenly a strong gust of wind opened the castle's gates. The harsh wind breezed out several candles, but somehow leaving the chandelier still lit up. Musicians stopped their songs and everyone held their breath as they stared at the dark gates. Slowly two wolfish dogs walked out of the shadows. Their fur was masked by heavy armory, but underneath all of it, you could still tell who they were. Prince James stepped before you, a protective arm keeping you back. The display made the dogs growl. A smile stretched across your lips as well as a deep frown. You lifted your hands, trying to calm them down. Their growling stopped, but they still assumed a fighting stance. They circled around you two. While you stood still, prince James frantically kept eye-contact with the animals.
A figure then stepped out of the shadows. "Human traditions are so dull…," Algeron's steady voice spoke. Everyone's focus shifted to him, including yours. He was covered in armor that resembled oak and vines that were adorned with intricate carvings. A royal coat wrapped around his shoulders. Your eyes pierced into his and a wide smile spread across his lips. He then looked past you, to your father. His eyes narrowed into a glare and he lifted himself into the air. "You play these games, but there is no fun if not all people enjoy it," he continued, "So how about we play a game all together, hm?" His voice took on a childish tone, "If you win, I leave. If you lose, whoever participates dies. How does that sound?" Stepping forward defiantly, James spoke up, "What if we simply don't entertain your game?" Algeron's eyes snap down to him. His smile vanished instantly. Your blood ran cold.
"Fetch."
Hamo and Wymund sprang into action. They snapped forward and pushed James down, forcing you to step back. You lost your balance, falling down. Your mind couldn't comprehend what it was seeing. Involuntarily your head looked up and he just… smiled so brightly. It was the same smile that he had, when you told him your name. People were screaming now. Some were crying. Guards were trying to approach James, but Wymund descended down on them, leaving Hamo to deal with James. Everything dulled into white-noise. Your gaze not being able to tear away from his grinning visage. It was when you smelled the deathly scent of blood that you gained control of your mind again. "Stop! Wymund and Hamo!" you screamed at the top of your lungs.
They stopped immediately. The hall turned quiet again as they watched the dogs casually strut towards you. Despite being covered in a bloody mess, they nuzzled into you, smearing the red underneath and on your cheeks. You suppressed your insides wanting to spill onto the ground, but you couldn't stop silent tears streaming down your face. Faintly you heard James gurgling voice. You couldn't make out what he was saying, but you also couldn't bring yourself to look at whatever was left of him. Hamo whined softly, his snout poking your cheek. You closed your eyes, focusing on steadying your breath. You then felt someone's soft hand cradling your cheek. "There is no need to cry," Algeron hushed you. Hesitantly you opened your eyes again. He looked so gentle. "I'm going to take care of you, okay? No one is going to be cruel to you again." The sincerity in his voice broke your mind.
You stared into his eye to find some ill-intent, but you couldn't find anything other than adoration and care. It was only when the dogs growled, did you shift your gaze. James had dragged himself towards. His body was littered with bite wounds and deep cuts. Blood was flooding out of his mouth, keeping him to forcefully breathe through his noise. His legs were broken and his arm barely strung together by limbs. With his working arm, he dragged himself to you. "Don't…," he coughed violently, "hurt her…" Algeron stood up swiftly. He stomped on James' hand. A painful crack echoed in the hall. "Hurt her?" he laughed hysterically before he kicked him in the stomach. More guards tightened their grip on their swords, hesitantly stepping forward. Algeron's eyes snapped to them.
You stood up immediately, stepping in front of his view. His gaze softened at once. "Let them help him," you pleaded. He frowned. "Why? All I need to do is crush those two kingdoms and you are free to do whatever you want," he chuckled, "You could stay with me, and even marry me if you please." You noticed how his cheeks flushed lightly. Your words were stuck in your throat. At that moment, James' father spoke, "Please, good fae. Let my son be treated and you can have the princess." You looked at your father and brother who held their head down low, a painful resignation written across their faces. Your chest tightened so much, you feared your heart might stop any moment. It didn't go unnoticed by the fae prince.
At once, he flew in a flash right in front of the royal men. His glare was piercing through their souls and his anger made his fists burst out small puffs of flames as he spoke, "You only ever view her as a tool, as something you can bargain with." His eyes snapped to your brother. "You said, a more suitable husband would be someone who could crush these two kingdoms." Your brother briefly looked at him before his horrified eyes looked at you. You mirrored his expression. Algeron flew up a bit further, stretching out his arms. "Well, here I am doing exactly that, yet you are allowing her to still be traded off for that weak corpse?" He then grabbed the arm of James' father, lifting him high up the ground. Onlookers gasped. Slowly they flew above James' twitching body. "Maybe I haven't made myself clear enough…," he mused, retracting one slow finger at a time. The king begged, pleaded and cried, but to no avail.
When there were only two last fingers gripping him, you found your voice again and yelled, "Don't drop him, please!" At once, the king was held tightly. Curiously the fae looked down at you. Your hands shook and your body was screaming for you to hide, but somehow you forced yourself to smile, "You don't have to do this for me to stay with you!" He grinned, "Are you saying, you will run away with me? To my realm?" "...Of course," your voice pitched nervously. He thought for a moment before he hummed pleasantly, "Okay then!" Rather than carefully putting the king back down, he tossed him like a rag-doll against the crowd of onlookers. Thankfully they caught him without too many being seriously hurt. You winced nonetheless. After that, Algeron descended down. "I would have preferred doing it the human way, but I'll follow your lead, my lady," he said cheerily as he gently took your hands. He stroked them soothingly. You couldn't help, but still feel the strings of your heart be pulled by him, though it twisted with a deep sense of disgust and shame.
You let out a shaky breath. "Well, would you be so kind as to heal him?" You gestured towards James who was barely holding on. Algeron spared him no glance. He asked innocently, "Why would I do that? He deserves to die." You looked at him puzzled. "He is an accomplice. He locked you in a tower and tossed the keys away as well," he smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes, "He is the snake." You tightened your grip on his hands, pleading once more, "Heal him, please… There will be no tears left for me to cry if you don't heal him." He frowned before sighing and granting your wish. James' blood forcefully swept back into his body and his wounds healed within a mere moment. He took several deep breaths, coughing last bits of blood up. "You are too sweet to vermin, my lady," he scolded you softly. Without waiting for a response, he whistled for Wymund and Hamo to return. "Would you like to be carried by me or ride on one of them?" he asked. You told him quietly, you wanted to walk for yourself which he eagerly obliged to. He held out his arm and you took it in daze.
Together you walked out of the gates, swallowed by the shadows. After that, another strong gust of wind slammed the gates shut. This time it also blew out the chandeliers' lights, leaving everyone in the dark.
People have really forgotten that yandere is literally a horror trope. No I don't want a "green flag yandere" I want an endless pit of dread in my stomach and also a sense of arousal that shouldn't be there
Late at night, when there are heroes saving the innocent citizen, there are also men and women getting drunk and partying to their heart's pleasure.
Whenever Jack is off work, he does spend nights at these parties, but not for the booze or to spend time with friends. No, he is there for the cheap thrill, women offer him by kissing him, complimenting him, praising the very ground, he walked on. He'd grin. He'd tell them how he pretty they were and that he would love to just have his way with them.
It always worked like a charm. They all followed him home and he got to fuck them roughly, pushing their head against the mattress. He loved that feeling of being on top.
That was until you followed him home.
He was furiously kissing you, just after the door clicked shut. His hands impatiently roamed your body, desperate to tear your dress off. You huffed out a couple breaths before gently, but firmly, pushing him away. His eyes narrowed. A teasing smile formed. "Aw, are you shy, doll?" Surprise glimmered in his eyes when you smiled back with a knowing look.
Slowly you undressed yourself as you spoke, "Not at all. I just like to enjoy my time." The fabric slid above your waist and over your head, tantalisingly revealing your figure.
His hands twitched, holding onto your waist in an instant.
A playful chuckle escaped your lips.
"You're so eager," you whispered, finally undressed and discarding the dress to the floor. You placed your hands behind neck, softly caressing the back of his head. An airy laugh escaped your lips as you looked into his piercing eyes.
He wanted to lean forward. He wanted to indulge in kissing you and finally fucking you, yet he waited for you to lead.
Slowly you leaned forward, still gazing into his eyes before glancing just a brief moment down to his lips. It was a sign for him to kiss you and he took the hint without hesitation.
Where his movements were fast, clumsy and eager, yours were slow and deliberate.
He adored that feeling. He couldn't get enough of it.
In-between kisses, he mumbled crassly, "I've never had sex with a woman like you before." He chuckled after, remembering all the desperate sluts before.
"Well yeah, 'cause I don't have sex, honey. I like being intimate, savouring your taste," you smiled into the kiss, caressing neck.
Shit, you're flirting? You're actually not just a cheap thrill?
After that night, you were gone. You left before he woke up, although not without putting a glass of water on his nightstand. He felt a bright smile take over his face as he looked at it. Fuck, he needed you. A night wasn't enough.
You weren't here, but he knew he could find you. After all, you wouldn't be so caring and act so unforgivingly passionate with any guy, ...right?
TUMBBLLRRRR I am not dead but university wants me to be 🫶proof I am in fact alive with a rough sketch I just did that may get made into a proper drawing but we will never know ✊😔
imagine being a couple years older than bruce, maybe enough to babysit him sometimes as a favor to your parent's friends, thomas and martha.
imagine bruce having a small crush on you growing up. nothing that serious, just some unrequited puppy love.
imagine his parents dying, and now you're the only remnant of happier times he has left.
imagine trying to be there for him, even as he grows more paranoid and isolated. And one day, he just dissapears on sabbatical and you figure he's outgrown his old child hood friend.
imagine reuniting with him and he's changed, but you can't say for the better. "Brucie" becomes an eccentric playboy in the media, but you're not fooled by it. You confront him about his vanishing act and his fake smile falters.
imagine him slowly trying to work his way back into your life, regardless of how you feel. You're not married, bruce finds out, and is shamefully relieved he doesn't have to share you.
imagine the media getting a hold of this and him using it to his advantage. who is this no-name, old money gothamite that's stole his attention? bruce justs brushes it off as a "close friend" and lets them run with it. now you're actively being pursued by him and the media.
imagine thinking he's lost interest after he takes in children, one being his biological son. surely that means he has some other woman in his life, right? one that he can cling to instead of an older woman from his past.
imagine his sons meet you and developing the same feelings bruce did when he was young.
imagine those feelins becoming less innocent as they grow older.
imagine Dick trying to flirt with you as soon as he's old enough, much to your amusment and slight alarm.
"come on, dick, save that for younger women" you'd joke, a little uncomfortable, when he asks you to "break him in as a man".
he just smiles boyishly with no shame.
imagine seeing Jason again when he's back in gotham, all rage and bitterness, far from the boy who tried to impress you with jane austen. seeing rain drip down his white fringe into his venom green eyes, mixing with blood after he beat a mugger harrassing you close to death.
"oh god, jay" you whispered, horrified, and hand fluttering by his temple. "what happened to you?"
he turns to you, sharp with bared teeth, but softens as the soft concern shines through your eyes.
imagine Tim having the most obvious crush on you out of all of three of them. he's blushing and refusing to meet your eyes when your first introduced. even when he's older he still has that flustered air around him when he sees you.
"am I that photogenic?" you teased him once when he took a candid picture of you, accidentally leaving the flash on.
he mutters a quick apology but doesn't delete the picture.
I love being a fangirl and writing fanfiction because yes that’s OUR man. Yes, we SHARE a boyfriend. We have a communal love interest and i appreciate the sense of community it brings.
I've been watching The Boys and I think for the people who followed me for Yandere!Gamma Jack content, it will come to no surprise that I really like Homelander.
He is such a bully and has such a sleazy feel to him. If he wasn't so handsome, I'd probably wanna hit him..., kinda still wanna hit him to be honest. Blood suits him sadly 😔
It was Gamma Jack and Mr. Incredible (and another hero, I can't picture who anymore) in a prison cell. They were talking to some government agents through cameras. Naturally Gamma Jack was completely peeved by getting locked up and apparently it was due to the hero ban.
In the dream, through the dialogue, I understood that the government still needed their superhero skills for undercover and highly dangerous missions without the public's knowledge. It's been a few years since they were locked up though, so I assume after the ban, every hero got locked up and then the government came up with a plan on how to use them.
Several hard cuts later (and apparently side-stories of Gamma Jack discovering the taste of marshmallows (he loved them) ), I was somehow in there now as well and of course, Gamma Jack developed some feelings for me(?) My role in the dream was that I became an agent by accident. I remember just begging to be on the team because of Gamma Jack, though I was somehow lucid enough in the dream to only think that last bit and instead pleaded my case to them by being the one to document them.
There was also some sorta bath scene, but I can only remember bits and pieces of it.
From here it gets super blurry, but then there was another hard cut and we were in a car. I think there were others in it and some people were outside (The car wasn't moving). I just turned around to him and bluntly asked him if he liked me after he said, he'll never find a woman that suits him.
He shrugged and said, "I don't know.", so I flicked his cheek and told him to give it to me straight. He rejected me right after ( :') ). I asked him if he didn't find me attractive and he hesitantly shook his head.
After that, I woke up.
...
Am I developing a form of psychosis or something?
Who cares, this is S-tier fanfic material. I'm gonna keep this and develop this into a proper story someday.

Everything she has fabricated to get to this point has to quietly disappear before she can step into her true self
Your shoulder bumped against someone, whilst you stood in the bookstore. Naturally your eyes snapped to the person, followed by a quick 'sorry'. The woman before you smiled, gently laughing, "I should be saying sorry. I bumped into you." Stepping back a little, she extended her hand. "I'm Helen, by the way." Despite feeling a little awkward, you shook her hand without question. "I'm (Y/n)," you said meekly. Her smile brightened as she nodded. "I saw you picked up White Nights," she mentioned, casually glancing to your hands. Your gaze went back to the book as well.
"Oh yeah," you replied absentmindedly, "I've been trying to read more 'classics', you know?" Helen hummed, "Well, Dostoevsky's works are a good start, especially White Nights." You gave her a confused look. She chuckled, "White Nights is about a man desperate to love a woman who he can not have." Her eyes gleamed as she continued speaking, "It reflects nature's most intimate core."
"Love?" You asked. She shook her head.
"Greed, of course," she grinned, thoroughly enjoying your surprised expression.
She bumped into your shoulder again, light and playfully this time. "How about you come around to my book club?" She asked, "Talking to you feels so natural. I think, you'd fit right in." For a moment you thought about it before naively nodding. "Sure, why not?" Her grin sharpened noticeably.
Harlequin never listened to authority. If he did, it was only because it suited his interests. That nature was bothersome for the other members of the circus, however as long as it didn't affect their work, it was manageable. Grinning from ear to ear, Harlequin moved however he pleased and right now his body carried him to the city. He was told to distribute more fliers, though his actual interest lies in bothering Pierrot. His colleague was acting differently, after he returned from the city. He seemed happier, excited even.
It wasn't a pleasing sight. In fact, it was a vile view from his position. He understood that you were the reason for Pierrot's change in mood, yet it confused him all the same. What did he do to gain your attention? Your affection? He held no power over you, Harlequin was sure of that. He thought back to his usual encounters with humans. It was whenever he exercised authority against them that they gave in, pleasing him with affections.
You, however, stood as an exception, never bowing to his pressure and even challenging him. It… irritated him. Perhaps having spent time with Pierrot has given you a false sense of security?
Clicking his tongue, he banished the thought and continued on his endeavor. With a practiced smile, he handed out fliers and occasionally charmed the women before quickly moving on. His pace slowed down when he saw the familiar café though. Naturally he glanced inside, through the large windows. There you were with no Pierrot in sight. He chuckled. Maybe it was his lucky day. Bothering you was sure to annoy Pierrot as well. Either way, he stepped inside, letting the door's bell chime loudly.
Your gaze immediately flicked to the sound, however your own practiced smile vanished when you realized it was him. His grin strained slightly. "Your little dog isn't around it seems," he hummed, leaning onto the counter, "Mind entertaining me then?" Rolling your eyes, your lips remained closed. His brows furrowed, but his smile widened. "Come on, you're still acting tough? We could finish what we started in the tent…," he whispered, further closing the distance between you two. Your face grimaced deeply, firmly pushing a hand against his chest.
An unwilling breath left his lungs as his eyes widened and the smile faded. His heart raced unnaturally fast. "There is nothing to finish," you spit lowly. The glare in your eyes was sharp, unyielding. Slowly Harlequin's smile returned, though much more nervous. An unfamiliar heat spread across his cheeks. "Whatever you say, Ma'am…," he mumbled. Was this what Pierrot kept feeling? No, that red fool loved submitting to you. Harlequin would never…
You clicked your tongue as he continued staring at you with that punch-able grin. "Get lost. I have customers to serve." Finally he returned to reality, stepping back. His body was uncharacteristically stiff, you noticed. In an exaggerated manner, he bowed down whilst looking at you. "Of course. I shall take my leave, but this won't be the last time, you'll see me, Ma'am," he chuckled, drinking up your annoyed expression. Without bothering to wait for your response, he swiftly exited the café, the bells chiming yet again.
The sun was starting to set. He ought to get back to the circus. Each step he took was far lighter than when he walked into the city. Was it happiness he felt in your presence? As he recounted the moment shared with you, his smile faded into a scowl. No, it couldn't be. He allowed you to push him around like some servant yet again. It should have been the other way around, right? But then why did it feel so… good?
Clicking his tongue, he quickly passed the other tents. Nevermind that now. He had a show to focus on. Perhaps you'll visit and he can start his newest attempt at making you submit. The thought made him chuckle. Suddenly he felt a sharp pain. A heinous scream escaped him as he swiftly moved away. With a grunt he pulled the knife out of his shoulder, throwing it to the ground, right before Pierrot's feet. "We have our shows soon," Harlequin barked, "Could you be kind enough and stab me after mine?" A clatter of several other knives echoed in the tent. "Stop bothering her," Pierrot said lowly, his glaring eyes glowing in the dimmed light. Laughing Harlequin simply replied, "Oh, you know I don't listen to anyone."
