This infectious smile
A smile that told everyone you were happy.
It has since gone away
A fake one in its place
Leaving me asking where did it run away to?
What has left you sad
Unable to show it
Have I done something wrong?
Has the world gotten to you

Is it just gone for good, none getting to see it?
I hope it comes back
Crosses your face again
Because the world is far darker without it.

Mirage
My hands are bloody
As they pound against the wall
The noise thuds and echoes in the hollow room
They ache, as much as my heart
But I continue,
Hoping someone can hear me
They can't, they never could
Not that anyone would care if they did
But I pound them harder
The mind is a twisted place
The darkness and loneliness creep from all sides
And the coldness seeps in deeply
I am alone in here
My hands hit harder, blood splattering
I always have been, always will be
There was light once
Or so I thought
It must have been a mirage
So long being in the dark that I tricked myself
Seeing something that never was
Feeling a warmth that was never mine to feel
The hollowed noise fills my ears
My hands numb at this point
Hoping someone, somewhere can hear me
I finally put my hands down
Give up the useless fight
It was all false hope, that mirage in the night

Sky High
I watched the leaves blow
Curious where they wanted to go
Did they want to stay on a tree?
Or fly away free?
How much I wanted to go too
I wanted to be sure I flew.
I wondered if they gathered again
To be with all their friends.
I watched the clouds as well
They seemed to puff up and swell
Being pushed in the wind
They merged again before floating off
I waved, knowing I couldn't follow
Hoping I would see them again
I knew it wouldn't happen
But I hoped

I tapped my reflection
And it felt like I was in a new dimension.
The face looked distorted
Oddest thing to be reported.
I tapped a bit harder
And did nothing more than ponder
How could that be me?
When they have no glee
I thought I was happy
But they look so sappy
I tapped the surface
Trying to understand the purpose
How this reflection of me
Could possibly be
Anything other
Than a bother.

What a perfect moment
A beautiful second that will eventually end
A mental picture
A memory

I know you all can't see
It doesn't seem to matter
You hide behind your smiles

Why does it matter
That I hide my tears behind a smile
Afraid to speak my mind
Because speaking means glares
Speaking means I am thrown to the wolves
To fend for myself

All I am greeted with are your backs
We are supposed to be together
We are family... aren't we?

I know this person
Who feels uncomfortable almost every day
They look in the mirror and see someone else
But I know a secret
They question their looks,
Style their hair different
And change their clothes
But they don't see what I do
I see someone who is perfect
Who should feel no need to hide
Someone who is amazing just as they are
No need to change.
They might not listen
They might not see
That perfect someone
In front of me.
So I will remain silent
Watch and wait and see
If they find that perfect someone
I have always seen.

Did the reaper ask you questions,
When they came for your soul.
Or did they remain quiet,
Wondering how you did this so.
Twisting the black and the light,
How could anyone have won that fight.
A soul so young, who has killed so many,
Marveling in the bodies, there are many.
But did the reaper ask you what you did,
Or did they stand silently at your bid.
The reaper has made your bed,
Smile creeping on their face, your finally dead.

Glass
So fragile,
Yet beautiful,
It is perplexing.
But once it falls,
You cannot put it back together,
Staying broken on the floor.
You can pick it all up,
Begin to try and fix it,
But it is never the same.
No matter how much glue,
Or how much time you spend,
It will not fix it.
The dust of the glass will always be there,
The splinter of the crack will grow,
Try as you might; it will always be broken.
Can you love that broke glass?
Make it something new?
Or will you pity you didn't throw it out?

The people gathered,
Paying their dues
To stare at the shattered piece
They held for you.
Sitting on display
Sat their heart
The people looked in awe
At their most important part.
Lines across their heart
Each one deeper than the last
Each a reminder
Of their long long past.
The people sat curiously
How could it be so broken, but still work
The people explained their opinions & concerns
But it sat on a shelf, that it's only perk.
They sat in the crowd and watched
As the people laughed and jest
And hearing what they said
Their heart was put through the test.
Trying not to shatter
They held on tight
Listening to the laughter
They put up one hell of a fight.
As the crowd left
The next attraction on the page
They stepped closer
And began to clean the hearts cage.
The heart beat softly
With each beat a new crack
They smiled a sad smile
They were not coming back.

I folded the paper
This way and that
Each way to make something I am missing
This one a heart,
That one a brain
But how do you make one for emotions?
So I folded,
This way and that.
Looking for the sign of how I felt.
This one too happy
This one two sad
Crumbled papers all around me.
Finally I stopped.
The masterpiece complete.
I got up and walked away
From that empty sheet.

They walk into the dark

Forget the pain
It will be shelved
They close the case
The hardest loss
The one closer than close
The one who had it all
They accept their Fate
The words sound fake
Unable to tell the truth from the lies
Sitting in the abyss
Their world is darkened again

They have a hidden world
Brain thinks one way
Body says different
Eyes say see me
They have a hidden secret
Expressing the mind
Baring the soul
Eyes close in hope
They pray the world will see
Love for another
Who doesn't understand fully
Holding their tongue
They have a hidden desire
Understanding the other
Wanting the love most of all
Accepting this is it
They go back to hiding
The Love of the other
Wanting happiness for them
Unsure of the next step
They put it all behind them
Dream that was
Hope that was there
Dreams shattered
Their world is darkened again.

I Spoke
I spoke words that I haven't heard in a while,
The words of hope, love, and faith.
The words depression has shoved away,
The words that seemed too distant to be real.
I spoke in defiance of depression,
To kick it while it was down.
To my shock it retreated some.
So again, I spoke, louder this time,
Screaming to the heavens and shaking hell.
My words rang louder,
Shaking the darkest parts of my mind.
I will be fine.

Fakest of the Fake
My cheeks hurt, the smile is forced
But the monster continues to pull.
Stitching my mouth into a forever smile,
'They won't know anything is wrong if you smile'
But I want someone to know,
'You don't, you will be an outcast'
Well... I don't want that.
Why would I choose to be alone?
So I dress up the smile,
Add a laugh here and there.
They wont notice if you laugh,
They wont know you want them to care.
I ask for the monster to make the smile bigger,
They greedily agree.
Bigger smile, means you suffer more,
And they feed off suffering.
So I smile, laugh and talk,
All the while I'm begging for it to stop.
I don't want to smile a fake smile,
Or laugh a fake laugh.
'But you must' reminds the monster.
'You're the fakest of the fake.'

Snuffed Out
The smoke has risen,
That light is out.
I quickly try to find another match,
Everyone will leave
Everyone will hate,
No one will be around if the light is out.
All matches have been lit
All lighters out of fluid,
I stumble in the darkness,
And knock it over.
I grab the candle
And place it back on the table.
Unfortunately for me,
It is far to late.
The chill has begun,
The night far too dark
I've let it be snuffed out,
The darkness has won.

Calling for me
I am bundled in bed
Sleeping is the only break I get
Then I hear you call for me,
Are you in my dreams?
I toss and turn
Struggling to keep my dreams pleasant.
As blackness begins to come in all around me.
I pull up the covers,
If I can't hear you, you don't exist.... right?
As I toss and turn my eyes fly open.
I am surrounded by blackness
As I am greeted with a low chuckle.
"Did you think you could hide? It's ok I am back, to make you remember, I am your only friend."
