1st Person Point of View
This post will be about the first person point of view. Why should you write in 1st person point of view, what are the pros and cons?
First Person:
When one uses first person, they use words like I and we. It is used to talk about how that person feels or thinks or experiences that have happened to them. "I feel ecstatic," would be in first person.
Why should you write in first person?
First person puts the reader in the narrator's head. The reader experiences whatever the narrator feels, thinks, sees, hears, and smells among other things. The narrator's fears, hopes, love, and despair, can be delivered to the reader directly and with maximum emotional impact. Writing in first-person enables you to deliver the entire story in your narrator’s voice and enables the reader to dive deeper into your narrators world.
Advantages:
The narrator can lie to the reader, misdirect, and say whatever they want. It would be completely excused as it is part of their character. They don't even have to be your protagonist, and although they are the protagonist in their story, that is only one part of the overarching tale that is happening around them.
Disadvantages:
It's limiting as you can only show the reader what one character is feeling, thinking and experiencing. The reader doesn't know how more than one character is feeling during a given situation. It only gives the reader the character or narrator's perspective on certain characters or situation.
