Imagine being Damonâs ex, and dating Kai
Damon saw you walk into the grill, hand in hand with Kai. He saw how Kai had one hand in your lower back, your bodies inseparable. He heard your laugh. The laugh that brought him back from his darkest time when you were his. The laugh that brought a smile instantly to his face on early mornings, when your bodies were tangled up in the sheets. Your eyes, breathtaking yet fierce. The eyes that sent shudders down his spine, when you were ready to sacrifice everything, for the people you loved and cared. That was all before, before you left him.
âDamon, I canât do this anymore. You donât care about whatâll happen to you. Your reckless behavior, it breaks me apart everyday. I loved you, Dam, but I just canât do it anymore. You promised me youâd change, and I canât keep hopingâ.Â
He still played back those words in his mind, every minute of the day. It had been 3 months since youâd left him, but he still came to the grill, every day, and drank his feelings away. He hadnât talked to you since you broke up with him, but he decided that today was it.
He walked over to your table.
âY/nâ he said, in a matter-of-fact tone.
âDamon, um, heyâ you said, shifting slightly in your seat.
âCan I talk to youâ he looked over at Kai. âPrivately?â
Kai decided to interrupt the moment. âHey, buddy, whatever you want to say, Im sure you can say it in front of meâ.
Damon gave him a deathly glare.Â
You squeezed Kaiâs hand in assurance. This sent a surge of jealousy through Damon. Kai smiled, and rolled his eyes at Damon.Â
You both walked over to the bar table.Â
You opened your mouth to speak, but Damon interrupted you.
âI know what youâre going to say. âDamon, its not the right time, etcetera, etceteraâ. But, just here me out y/n. Just let me say what I want to, and Iâll never bother you again. You left me, you said you loved me, said youâd always be there through my darkest times, my wrongest decisions. And I believed you, I believed that youâd be by my side during my lowest. But what did you do, you walked out on me. You walked out on everything we had. You were selfish, y/n, selfishâ.Â
Both of your eyeâs were filled with tears, yet his were enraged, and a glimpse of pain showed.
He came close to you, you could feel his breath on your face. His thumb touched your face. âI loved you, more than anyone, anything. And I still do. Iâll never be able to stopâ.
âSelfishâ you scoffed. âI was selfish, huh Damon. Still trying to blame all your problems on others. Most nights I couldnât even sleep. Too worried about you, making sure you were safe. But when I could, I would wake up to an empty bed. You never cared to ask what I thought of your actions, never cared if I was okay. Yet youâd constantly be with Elena, making sure she was okay 24/7. Im not jealous, I never was, just ashamed that youâd think so lowly of me. Im happy with Kai, and I sure as hell donât care if you like that or notâ. A
And with that you walked away.Â
And thats when Damon decided to shut it all off. His pain, heartbreak, and loss. His humanity was gone, and the only person who couldâve brought him back was gone too.
