oooh I get it itâs always gonna be because of the environment I grew up in
itâs because of the curse
Happy Fucking Moon Day
saw this suddenly get a flurry of notes which means it is once again fucking moon day! Happy fucking moon day, everyone.
hello all, it's Fucking Moon Day Monday
once I snorted a fat line of nuance and everything started depending. watch out
tumblr is great bc its like a diary where I can take other peoples diary entries and glue them into my own diary
Spin this wheel. The result you get is a prediction you receive that will happen to you tomorrow.
How fucked are you?
Incredibly dead
This is pretty bad, but not life ending
Not good, but not terrible
Nothing changes in my life
This actually slightly improves my life
This is everything I've ever wanted
Can't spin/can't read/bald/nuance
you can post on tumblr even when you're trying to take a break from social media it literally doesn't count. it's like pepsi max, or pescatarianism
for sale baby shoes our boot just had a litter^-^
you should be addicted to shutting the fuck up
You wanna fuck me so bad it makes you look stupid
girl nothing is ever gonna be all the way together just enjoy the bits and pieces #yourfragments
This amount of individualism is exactly whats gonna kill us all btw
"Going a couple hours without eating a single kind of food? No thanks, I would rather kill a child" is such a wildly horrifying take to see MULTIPLE people proudly stating.

Above anything else dogs are cropped/docked for aesthetics.
Many people claim âwe have to crop dobermans, boxers, etc. because floppy ears retain moisture and it makes them prone to ear infections.â but if thatâs the case, why donât we do this to other breeds then? The dogs most prone to ear infections are labradors, beagles, bloodhounds, coonhounds, spaniels, poodles, etc. and yet we almost never crop them. Why? because it doesnât look right. Itâs not about preventing ear infections, but thatâs a poor argument to begin with considering you can just take care of your dogâs ears.
Many people make a similar argument for docking; âwe have to doc dobermans, boxers, rottweilers, etc. because it prevents happy tail.â Again if thatâs the case, why donât we do it to other breeds? Labradors, greyhounds, whippets, bloodhounds, etc. commonly get tail related injuries yet we donât dock them unless itâs after the injury has already occurred. Plus, unlike with cropping, docking is generally done without anesthesia or painkillers. Even if you go to a vet it is still done without anything to prevent pain because itâs done to newborn puppies. They can feel it, they squeal and react to the pain. So youâre causing pain in order to prevent pain. Of course, some people will tell you itâs fine because the puppy âwonât rememberâ but not remembering a traumatic event isnât the same as being unaffected. ïżŒ
But thatâs just with pets, cropping and docking working dogs is completely different⊠right?
âWe have to dock dobermans, rottweilers, etc. for protection work because someone could grab them by the tail.â Yet german shepherds, belgian malinois, dutch shepherds, and more, are left with their tails intact despite the fact that you could grab them by the tail too.
âWe have to crop dobermans, american bullies, etc. for protection work because someone could grab them by the ears.â Yet german shepherds, belgian malinois, dutch shepherds, rottweilers, and more, are left with their ears intact despite the fact that you could still grab them. And you could still grab a cropped dobermanâs ears because they are almost never given a short crop. It accomplishes nothing except making them look a certain way.
âWell we have to crop and dock livestock guardians so predators canât grab their ears or bite off their tails.â I am less critical when it comes to cropping livestock guardians, but just like with everything else it seems to only be done to specific breeds. Even if they do the same job, even if they face the same predators, itâs still not done to every breed. It is generally only done to the breeds you expect to see cropped and docked.
âWell cattle dogs could have their tails stepped on.â We still have the same issue as before. Itâs not done to all cattle dog breeds, just to the ones you expect to see docked.
Cropping/docking is, with few exceptions, only done to specific breeds because it looks ânormal,â because itâs âstandard.â The biggest reason itâs done is for aesthetics.
"Those GSD ears on that mastiff head are killing me
The video is just the dog being stacked so no other angles unfortunately "
oh yeah "chinese" type german shepherds are really.... unsettling to say the least. the reason i haven't really posted any yet, is because it's hard for me to track down one specific dog to feature, i can't really find like a breeder's site or anything, i just see a lot of different dogs of this type
god wept.
I know you guys want to find something to be mad about but like...Chinese shepherds aren't a new fad or anything. Western people LOVE to be weird when other cultures develop a breed, but it's important to take a breath and consider there's more you don't understand than do.
Chinese shepherds were created from German shepherds, recognized in 1988, and were specifically created to be working dogs to counter Chinese breeds that were going extinct. According to their breeders they are solid, functional dogs with decently long lifespans.
I think you should maybe try reaching out to breeders and advocates of breeds of animals you aren't familiar with to learn about them before coming to conclusions based off a few grainy photos you found. Most breeders are happy to talk about their dogs! The language barrier can be a problem, but if you actually are in the pursuit of knowledge, it is not so hard to find someone willing to help translate.
The confirmation of show line German shepherd dogs looks weird to me and I used to think these animals had something wrong with them until actually speaking with breeders at shows. This was largely to get over my phobia of these dogs but was very educational. I still don't like them but I can tell you the people who are passionate about producing healthy, temperamentally stable dogs are very knowledgeable about their animals' structures! The dogs were selected for this look, and their gait is odd to me but ultimately functional and effective. There's a difference between the straight, sloping backs and roached backs. Comparing these to Chinese shepherds, well they look the same. I don't see a roached back...
Just peeping at a photograph can't tell you much. Get out there and talk to people! Go to dog shows, cat shows, poultry shows, and whatever else! Educate yourself, talk to different people. You might even make lifelong friends! I used to be on the bandwagon of trying to sort animal breeds into ethical and unethical but the truth of it is that breeds are just constructs. It's up to us to interpret standards and practice good husbandry. In every culture, in every animal breed, there's a range of individuals each with their own goals.
hypertype dogs aren't right when europeans do it to great danes and it's not right when any culture breeds animals to the extremes simply for aesthetics. i understand that ppl on tumblr feel a gut instinct to defend nonamerican cultures. but is this really the hill you want to die on? it's true that it can be hard to tell what's going on from photos, but the health effects of hypertype dog breeds can be measured in all kinds of breeds common to the west, such as great danes, basset hounds, pekinese, american bullies, neopolitan mastiffs (just to name a few). problems like hip dysplasia, entropion, yeast infections, ruptured disks, joint pain, shortened life spans are unavoidable truths and they don't stop existing just because you've had some nice conversations w/ breeders once or twice. the problems that exist in purebred breeding are still there and they are quantifiable. i also don't understand your reasoning to advise me to 'go to dog shows' to help me "understand" dogs that are not bred to the breed standard. you went to dog shows to help you understand the breed standard of the german sheperd. what german sheperd breeder do you think will look at these above pictured dogs and tell me that this is ok? if the standard exists for a reason, why would breeders that use justify throwing that standard out the window to the highest extreme? and that being said not every standard is created equal, if a breed standard requires dogs to be bred in ways that we KNOW causes health problems (such as closed nares on bulldogs for example) why should i accept that? how many breeders should i talk to before i'm brainwashed into ignoring scientific evidence? this is not black and white issue. you're not either 'on a bandwagon' or off of it, the morality of animal breeding should constantly be considered and every individual person must have a place in which they draw the a line in the sand. and if you are willing to close your eyes and be a contrarian just for the sake of it, that's your buisiness. but maybe consider that not every tumblr user is as uneducated as you used to be
i understand that i'm not going to change your mind because by the look of your blog you seem deadset in your opinion, but you still kinda pissed me off and i'm as allowed to speak my mind as you are. fist and foremost this is a blog that documents dog that are odd looking. and yes. i think these dogs are freaking weird looking, my original post made no moral judgements and only reflected my personal aesthetic opinion, you are fighting strawmen that don't even exist
