With High Expectations
âHmmâŠ.Chang, huh?â Duo hummed, leaning his chin into the palm of his hand. His fingers absently drummed against his chin as he let the name roll around in his head. It wasnât ringing any immediate bells and Duo knew that Chang was practically equivalent to someone being named Smith. But stillâŠthere was something. âSo what brings you here, Chang?â Duo asked. âIâve heard it all so you donât hafta be embarrassed to share.â Yes, Duo would be the first one to admit it. He was a nosy person and he liked to get the 411 on people. It wasnât that he was a gossip, he just liked to be in the know. âIs Chang a fake name or your real name? Thatâs not your first name is it because man, thatâd be weird. Oh, I know!â Duo jumped up with a grin and a snap. âLetâs make a game of it! I could guess and you lemme know if Iâm hot or cold.âÂ
âPlease sober up before talking to me again.â Wufei quips in his mind. Somehow through his arduous travels in the last 72 hours heâs found fumes of patience for this situation. But heâs sure it wonât last. Heâs exhausted.
âThat is my actual name.â he answers, his words coming out on a full sigh. âThereâs no need for games. Iâm here for school, thatâs all. I didnât want to start late.â
Which was true enough. Tomorrow was the first day of class. Wufei had already missed orientation. He could have spent a few days finding and finalizing a place to stay, but heâd not wanted to waste a minute getting here. This temporary situation was the price to pay for being prompt.
âNow if you donât mind, I could use some rest.â Wufei manages as politely as he can, which isnât very. He doesnât actually want to sleep just yet, heâs got too much on his mind. But a few minutes to rest his body would do wonders if only this stranger would give him some peace.
