“They weren’t exactly welcoming that was for sure…” Alistair didn’t like admitting it, the Ash Warriors were a well regarded order in Ferelden, but his memories of Ostagar were still clear in his head, even now these ten years later. “I get it though… got it rather too. It was a hard time. I know they lost some good men in the battles before… before the last one.”
Maker it was still hard to talk about it, even now. “Alim, –er, the Hero, he didn’t take it so well but… I’m sure he understands how tough things were now.” Warden-Commander Surana had been fresh out of the Circle when he’d met the Ash Warriors in Ostagar. In his brief memories of the world ‘outside’, he’d never experienced such rude behavior… but perhaps an army camp was the rudest awakening anyone could have.
“But.. thank you for thinking of us. It seems these days most people try to forget a Blight ever happened.”
“ it still isn’t a rumor that we’re proud of -- less so to know it’s true. the wardens and the warriors are the last line of defense for ferelden. we ought to have been looking out for each other. “ Wulf sighs. He was imprisoned during the blight, and thankful that it never reached them, isolated and surrounded by the ocean. The darkspawn hadn’t found their way there -- but he heard that lothering fell.
He heard about Redcliffe, where he’d once called and made home. He’d been afraid of what the Darkspawn might have done there. ( The damage found there, after he’d been freed, wasn’t the Darkspawn’s doing, really -- but it makes it difficult not to think about the blight. He should have been there to protect his family. )
It’s useless to dwell on.

UPDATE ! we’re back from Texas ! I have my laptop so before / after work today I’m going to be working on my blog here and @wolftcher ! I’ve also chosen a fc for wulf so I’ll have icons for my replies !
Just because my blog is all about CHEMISTRY when it comes to shipping, does NOT mean I am oppose to discussing ships with your muse, having your muse come at mine, telling me right away in an introduction: “I ship our muses hope you don’t find that X” etc. etc. That is HOW chemistry can start. Saying I’m a “chemistry only” shipper only means I do not “auto ship” what fandom or canon wants, I want to see it happen between writers as synergy or in “real time”. Nothing against auto-shippers, but chemistry shippers tend to get overlooked as the RPC seems to think this means: “they’re never going to do what I want right away, so why bother.” No, we just don’t want you thinking romance / smut / whatever is all that we’re good for. We don’t want to be used and then abandoned after 1 thread. Maybe it’s our way of smoking out the partners that are using our muse for JUST that thing. Maybe we’re protecting our muses because we know people flake out and leave the RPC all the time after coming to us hardcore and getting us to want what they want.
Please do not pass us up because we don’t want to jump into something and fake it in order to keep partners. Sometimes our muses DO connect right away. Sometimes they DO want your muse when they appear. We are saying that all ships are NOT created equal or the same, and we are open to finding that connection through every way, not just the instant-drive-thru manner of rp.

* important: wulf falls to the side of ‘freedom for mages’ and ‘the chantry is bad’ -- if that helps establish who he does and doesn’t get along with. He also has a fierce regard for honor and good hearts -- people willing to fight for what they want. The Ash Warriors as a group don’t believe in the organized religion and teachings of the chant of light, but they do believe in Andraste.
CASSANDRA
Wulf bears a heavy distaste for the chantry -- it’s inherent in the Ash Warrior culture. They predate the chantry, and their teachings are more tolerant. Despite this, he has a great respect for Cassandra -- she has a spine like steel, and a heart like gold. He likes to spar with her, and knows when they’re in the field together, they’ll have one anothers backs. She’s trustworthy -- like a mountain.
VARRIC
oh, he loves varric. The two of them get together and it’s chaos ! Wulf is a fan of tall tales, spins more than a few of his own -- and he likes to listen to Varric’s stories. More than that, there’s something about him that reminds Wulf of his brothers in arms. He’s good.
SOLAS
Wulf and Solas have conflicting feelings about a great many things -- Wulf isn’t so bullheaded as to pretend he knows anything about the fade or magic beyond what he’s learned traveling -- and what he’s learned is that there are two sides to every story. Solas is too stiff and too guarded for Wulf to really enjoy working with him, much less spending time with him.
IRON BULL
Much like Varric, Iron Bull is good company to keep in his downtime, and a good companion to have on the battlefield. He likes Bull. Much like Cassandra, he knows nothing could fell them when they have each others backs.
DORIAN
When Dorian isn’t ragging him over his ‘rustic ferelden charm and the smell of dog’, Wulf thinks they get along pretty well. He likes Dorian’s sharp wit and quick tongue -- and his steadfast resolve to love his homeland but recognize it’s flaws ( which is an opinion he shares of ferelden. )
SERA
He doesn’t always understand Sera -- but he is always willing to make chaos with her.
VIVIENNE
Not only does he disagree with every single thing he’s ever heard vivienne say, but he doesn’t trust her allegiances and loyalty to the inquisition -- in his own opinion, he doesn’t see her as someone who serves anything but her own agenda.
BLACKWALL
They’re too similar to be very close. Before knowing the truth -- Wulf has a great respect for the Wardens. Ash Warriors and Grey Wardens being regarded as great protectors over most of ferelden, he views them like cousins. But Blackwall has a great guilt that Wulf can see -- much like his own. Getting the two of them together, especially after the truth is out, would just prove to be depressing. Wulf forgives him for lying, regardless.
COLE

Wulf adores Cole. he didn’t really understand him at first -- was reminded too heavily of the spirits and things he’s seen in his fade dreams -- but as he came to learn that Cole was just trying to help, he began to understand better. Once Cole is made human, Wulf, much like Varric, becomes even more protective of him. He advocated for Cole to be more human, less spirit.
He’s really enjoying the show. Wulf gets around, travels enough, that he’s met plenty of bards. It isn’t a talent he himself possesses and is, at times, envious of. He’s set aside a generous number of coins for the bard when he’s done, and at present he’s just watching with keen eyes of gold, leaning his head on one hand, ale forgotten -- and enjoys the beautiful sound of his voice.
Rabbit seems to be enjoying it too -- gives a great big sigh where he’s laying under Wulf’s feet.
When the bard makes his way around the tavern to collect his coin, Wulf gives a wide thing of a smile and happily parts with his coin. -- “ Buy you a drink ? “
