Finally done!

My desk buddy is now complete! Husband just got me a powered usb hub that I can finally plug everything into without worrying about a shortage (which, hermergerd, would have been bad at this point).

The core is really bright! I'm really in love with how luminous it is and now I'm just gonna play around with orb designs since this core is modeled like a soccer ball and I want to see what other designs can do. As an added bonus, I added another LED to the helmet and it looks pretty cool. Unfortunately the picture doesn't show the infill of the visor which was made using a honeycomb/hex infill and makes it spectacular to look at.

(I've also ordered one of those brick-light kits for legos but I don't think I'm going to use it for now...I was gonna light up the tip of the tail but I think this is more than enough >__>)

Finally done with the hangar. Started with the base then designed around them. Glued 9 bases to each other to form the floor of the hangar and modeled each unique tile by hand. Most of the time was spent printing since modeling modularly helps tremendously. Each tile slips into place and I haven't glued them on yet in case I wanted to change a few things, which I know I will.

I ended up using fairy lights and threaded them through, which worked out pretty well. Now I just need to find a way to connect multiple usbs to the same mechanism and get them to turn on and off when I do my computer but everything remains on when my computer shuts down .____.

Finally able to complete this guy!

I had him printed and painted for a while but had no where to put him so he stayed on the floor by my computer for the longest time, collecting dust (you can see how dusty he is in the second pic and a little bit of it in the first one when I tried to dust him off).

We were in much need of a desk upgrade since the ones we were using were 2 decades old (omg...). We had to change the configuration of the layout of the space but I think this works better than how it was before.

This model is pretty huge so it was a struggle to get it set up and allot the space...

Did I sacrifice 1/3 of my desk space to my desk buddy? Heckin yes, but it makes me happy to work on the computer and see him lit up. Even though it's complete, I'm working on making a pseudo hangar around it with some more LEDs and maybe replacing the LED in the tail to be a bit brighter but sizing can only accomplish so much.

So far I'm pretty happy. But I'm out of space since I have more giant Zoids to display...

A rough 3D model of the Mad Thunder Zoid I'm working on.

As with other models I make, I used reference material online like the wiki/fandom and screenshots and photos of the Zoid. I've added my own spin on things and removed things I didn't like about the design (for some reason, the plating on the main armor parts feel like fabric padding to me???). I'm trying to think of a nice design for the middle horn but meh....

So far I'm pretty happy with the articulation. The motorized figure surprised me because of how the joints are set up so for the 3D print I "fixed" a few things. Arms, legs, tail, neck, body, etc have joints spliced in to give it some freedom of movement. I know I should fix the topology but I'm too lazy and thankfully 3D printing doesn't care that much about such things (though it's good practice to do!). I'm thinking of adding the guns from the Wing Gundam Zero EW to replace the back cannons since I already have them modeled but I can't think of a nice base for it. I'll work on other things in the mean time >__>
