Longing for a run
I've got to say, as I sit here watching the Boston Marathon, that I miss training for a race. I miss my running friends, my running club, and just feeling like I accomplished something great.
Guys...Guys...
I think I want to start blogging again. Not that I was ever any good at it, and maybe these are just musings on a sleep-deprived mid shift. I can’t promise it will be as often as I would like, but I’m also going to get on here and just catch up on stuff...and things.
Mainly, I just need an outlet to get across some of my thoughts, even if they go nowhere and no one reads them. Running is a great distraction to some of my frustration but I can’t always ignore my feelings with the hopes that they will go away.
This is what friends are for right? RIGHT? But what if I’d rather just send a question out into the abyss? Maybe I won’t get an answer, or maybe I’ll get the answer I wasn’t looking for.
Again...ramblings on a mid shift...
Celebrating Phils day by eating his likeness in cookie form. Thanks for not seeing your shadow...
All smiles #TCSNYCMarathon
For me, my main goal was to finish and finish strong. While I didn't make the time goal, today was about the experience. Mission Accomplished.
It's getting real...Im sure to cry when I see this tomorrow! #TCSNYCMarathon (at Central Park)
WELCOME TO TAPER TOWN
New York...I’m coming for you.
22 miles complete on Sunday and now it’s time for the taper. Can I tell you how awesome I feel (felt) after completing such a daunting run with a black cloud hanging over me? Let’s be honest, Pittsburgh was not good for me. My training was awful...seriously awful, and the race was no better. But, that was what I should have expected. This time...I nailed all of my long runs minus one, and even completed several track/speed workouts. I still didn’t have a 100%complete training plan, but it was by far better than Pittsburgh, and more complete than the Wineglass, when it came to the long runs - without illness/injury.
Going into Sunday, I wasn’t sure how I would feel. At the end of my 18 miler 2 weeks ago, I was surprised at how easy (if that is the right word), the run felt. I was tired but I almost felt like I could go more. On Sunday, I wasn’t exactly in the same mindset - mainly from lack of confidence - but I did not feel as if I couldn’t complete the 20. That’s when my friend, and running partner, suggested we do a few more miles. I reluctantly agreed. I’m glad that she dragged me along...kicking and screaming. While my toes were angry, with blisters in new places I hadn’t experienced before, my legs still felt decent. Our pace had slowed but we trudged along in our run/walk and made it through those extra two miles. I was ecstatic. My thought is...if we could add 4 onto our previous 18 miler and feel okay, than that’s all we have to do on race day. Makes sense? Fingers crossed that all goes well and we can feel that way.
Two days later and I’m surprised at how good my legs feel. I seriously thought I would need to extra rest day. I guess this is what it’s like to become a more seasoned runner? Anyway, now it’s time to taper. I have 2 more long runs - a 12 miler and a 10 mile race (for fun because...medals...). Then, it’s onto New York.
Went out with a plan to do 20 or just a little more...banged out 22! We're ready! #TCSNYCMarathon #Galloway
Nice run in Arlington. Don't be fooled, there were plenty of hills...
Post 18 miler selfie and runners high. Best.Run.Eva. We're coming for you #TCSNYCMarathon #Galloway

Stinky 15+ humid miles selfie...
Seriously, the only reason I run...and for margaritas...and bacon
Was supposed to go to NY this weekend but with a baby with a yucky tummy we stayed home. I did however get the chance to get my run in with some wonderful company. A PR for distance with the jogging stroller and much needed family time. <3
If this is considered eating my feelings then at least they are colorful and full of bacon...
