That sounds a lot like you.
[grins, looking between the door leading outside and the man standing before him. Wyatt offers his hand, smirking and raising an eyebrow]
[skips to the bathroom and back with the dark brown bottle, tongue between his teeth as he splashes some on a cotton ball. Sets the bottle down and plants a hand on Wyatt’s abs, the other bringing the medicated puff to graze lightly over the deep scratch] Yeah, it’s pretty hardcore. Maybe you’d do better with a moped.
[winces, looking down as the peroxide fizzes as it cleans out his scratches.] I feel like I'm too tall for a moped. I'd look like a goon or something.
…Yeah, well, that’s good. It mustn’t have been a very bad fall with how you’re smiling. …You should get your shirt back on.
Well, I'd prefer to wait until I'm not going to get blood on it, if it's all the same.
It is [He smiles]. Why didn’t you become a chef?
I reckon I enjoy it too much. I'd rather keep it as a way to unwind, then make it something I HAVE to do.
Ohhh, I got you. Well when you fall off the horse, aren’t you supposed to get back up on it? [nods sagely as he steps off and moves to unlock his door] I mostly walk myself, I can’t really be trusted to operate anything.
I'll have to, that bike is all I have. [pulls the gauze away from his side, examining the wound] Man, I don't even know how I managed this one.
How’s the right person going to help me from getting splashed by cars and looking like a wet chicken?
You have to find someone who can have fun in the rain. [grin] Someone who isn't afraid of looking like a big twelve year old.
I don’t think so. I have hardly anything laying around my apartment.
…Is your bike at least alright?
It'll live to see another day, thank God, Might need a new change, but coulda been much worse.
Damn, you okay there, buddy?
Nothing I won't recover from, I reckon.
Probably just needs a good wash and a fresh bandage.
[Shrugs] I agree with you one hundred percent, but I’ve learned to not give a shit what people usually think of me. I’ve met some jerks here and I’ve met some really amazing dudes, so I just put my attention on those who actually deserve it. [Nods] That’s actually pretty awesome, did you ever see any poltergeists? [Grins]
I wish. I spend my entire teenage years convinced I was an amateur ghost hunter, I used to carry a camera around trying to get something on film. Nothing supernatural, just a lot of homeless people and tourists.
Oh good. [steps into the elevator, holding the door for him] So why have you been off a bike long enough to forget how to ride one?
Before I moved here I had a car, so I just drove everywhere. I'm trying to be a true New Yorker now, it backfired. [laughs] I should probably stick to walking.
[Laughs] I guess, but not everyone in this place wants to be friends with the help. [Shrugs] Which is cool with me, I like being on my own anyways. [Eyes slightly widen] Ah, okay. That explains the cool accent. Did you live there all your life?
[face goes serious for a moment] Anyone who looks down on you for your job ain't worth the time. Some people managed to grow up without any shred of decency or manners, I'll never get it.
Anyway. [laughs] Yeah, I grew up in Savannah. We had this amazing little apartment overlooking a cemetery, which is sort of that town in a nutshell.
[eyes widen, roaming over the torso] I do… That’s… That’s some scratch, yeah. [clears his throat, looking up and smiling] I’m on the 10th floor, hope you can walk to the elevator.
[grins, managing a casual shrug] I think it looks worse than it actually is, I appreciate the help.
Well if you need some extra towels, let me know I have tons in my cart. [Pats the clunky item beside him and then leans against it. Observes the gesture the man makes and stares slightly in awe] About two weeks and some change. It’s not the most glamorous, but it’s alright. I get to talk to strangers a lot. Like now.
See? It's always nice to have an opportunity to make new friends.
I'm pretty new myself. Just moved up from Georgia about a month ago.
Anyone have any peroxide laying around their apartment?
Riding a bike...is not like riding a bike. You apparently CAN forget how.
[Kieran winks and flips his dreads over his shoulder dramatically] Well, you know. I do what I can and what I can do is obviously the best. [Laughs] I’m kidding, but thanks. It’s not just me around here but I do clean often. Sorry,….am I stopping you from going somewhere?
My only plans for the day involve toweling off and putting on dry clothes, you're not keeping me from anything. [smiles, pushing a few wet strands of hair out of his face] How long you been working here?
[Shakes his head] Uh, maybe you’ve seen me cleaning then. That has to be it. [Scratches the side of his head and smiles] I’m Kieran. Currently one of the housekeepers of this place. [Gestures to the lobby]
Must be it, I can't come up with anything else. [grins, looking around] You do a great job then, it always looks totally immaculate in here.
