okay so

yurei is someone whos very very blunt. but not in a way thats mean or rude, she is humble you see! she says what she thinks, but what she thinks tends to be neutral in nature -> it usually just makes it awkward for the other person.

as she is so humble to the point of it branching past that line into very minor self confidence (only once you know her a little more), she struggles to comprehend how someone like sayume could be ultra positive all the time

you said ur character inspos for her are emu and madoka right? so with this i imagine sayume being very vedy supportive of the group, and full of energy in a way that yurei just DOESNT UNDERSTAND. she doesnt see how someone could look at her that positively, or always know how to cheer people up, and what to say and when to say it. she doesnt get it, so she sort of stays awkward and silent around her, as she finds sayume difficult to comprehend.

my idea is - sayume misinterprets this. something like she gets frustrated she cant support yurei properly, doesnt know what to say, and thinks yurei finds her annoying or too much (yurei is very mellow and sleepy almost, stark contrast).

i also had an idea , maybe sayume could get very aggressive when her happy supportinf nature isnt working. she gets mad at herself for not being able to cheer them up, and this could correlate to yurei in some ways.

one thing i thought of was night and yurei getting along very well, (night is easy to click with, older brother etc etc) and him always knowing how to dispel yureis awkward nature. sayume is frustrated she cant do the same, and cusses him out unintentionally lol.

i think as they develop it would be interesting to see how maybe as sayume thinks yureis view is negative, she acts more/less jolly, which triggers yurei to retreat even further until they have a heart to heart and bam feelings ;3

Anyways this is very good!!! I picture Sayume as the type to be somewhat of a "golden child" whose used to always being able to solve everyone's problems, so her being stumped with Yurei would definitely be a dark patch for her. Additionally, she'd probably try to copy Night or get more aggressive/persistent with her usual methods if she kept failing to cheer up Yurei.

Sayume thinks that because Yurei doesn't act happy (*according to her standards), that she needs to "fix" Yurei and make her happy; ignoring the things that do make Yurei actually happy because she's narrow-minded when it comes to what constitutes happiness.

(that's just a minor concept tho!!!!)

Nuance: I like what you've done with him so far, but I'm not sold on the hairstyle yet. To be fair I don't actually have any othe ideas at the moment, but the hair doesn't feel quite right

ive not been drawing it the best really,, the idea is long curlyish hair in a bun, but i really can't figure out the front so it feels off to me in that way

I like the idea of him having long hair (I can try and find some refs too), and I think his face is really good so far!!! I think it would make sense if he had some scars or bruises (considering his current story)
