like yes actually there is a conversation to be had about how a characters actions are framed and how they thematically fit with the rest of the story and it can in fact reflect the author's beliefs. some authors are even trying to make a point

What kind of mask does your lamb wear and why?

Oh boy! Okay, okay sit down let's discuss this!

You see crowns work slightly different in my Au. When a crown merges with a mortal to form a godly body it remains internal and often unseen though the black ichor spreads throughout remapping their body. This is why Gods are more "extreme" compared to their mortal counterparts think of it like the Great Jaggi from Monster Hunter, having larger with more defined features is often the result (unlike the sexual dimorphism in MH).

Now whilst this internal crown remains buried within the god, the external crown is what we most closely relate to its in game visuals.

This crown has a direct neural link to its internal counterpart (like fun black magic wifi!) and can be moulded to a variety of forms allowing gods to use weapons or simple tools without them being physically available. The crowns themselves are very similar to a parasitic symbiote in return for a capable host it will grow in ways to aid in their continued co-survival though they too are not impervious to injury or death, being able to be killed though they are not truly considered "dead" until the complete decay of the internal crown at which point both will cease any function.

So why is the crown a mask for the lamb?

So the internal crown is unmoving within its host god, the external as a show of the gods strength can be shown in the sense of a "crown" attaching to a inanimate object in a way to be used as a accessory (don't worry they enjoy the attention).

This is how the lambs mask came to be.

During the process of making a vessel the external crown is attached to a inanimate object then delivered onto the mortal the god wishes to possess.

The parasitic tendrils will then force their way into the body until it enters the brain and gains complete control of the central nervous system of the mortal, using the link between internal and external the god can freely use the vessel as a puppet for their whims!

This attachment cannot be removed as doing so would lead to a very painful death however it is beneficial for the mortal as well. Filling a vase with water, if it were to leak you would simply repair it, the external crown will do the same for the vessel as long as it has the strength to do so, said strength is directly tied to the religious fervour of the god they are attached too!

Now after some events within the AU the vessel mask will fall revealing a "new" external crown as such point this mask is not a permanent fixture on her face however the lamb still uses the mask as a crutch in times where she feels the need to drop her "ego" and inhibit her gods will only, plus her poker face is shit (according to Ratau at least)

sometimes I’m reminded that there are still people who don’t know ao3 was literally created by incest shippers — and the site’s sole purpose is to 1. be completely against censorship and 2. host all kinds of dark, taboo fics that are banned on other platforms — and the first ever fic that was posted on ao3 was a fic about an incest ship from supernatural.

you are in the house that was created by freaks. for freaks (affectionate). every disgusting thing you can think of is rightfully allowed and welcomed on ao3, because they are exactly the reasons why ao3 was created in the first place.

ao3 was created because its creators got tired of censorship, they got tired of dark and taboo fics getting banned on pro-censorship platforms, and they wanted a place that was safe for ALL FICS THAT WERE DARK AND TABOO.

ao3’s main principle is being against censorship and being proship / profic.

there are some things in fiction that make me uncomfortable, but instead of shaming people who are just minding their own business and not harming anyone in real life, I choose to curate my own internet experience by blocking/muting what I don’t want to see. ao3 has excellent tagging system, so instead of being a bitch, use their tagging system properly and you won’t see the things you don’t want to see.

it’s your job to curate what you see. it’s not other people’s jobs or responsibilities to censor themselves for your personal comfort. the world does not revolve around you.

also you cannot censor “only the things you personally hate” without expecting everything else, that isn’t of conservative beliefs, to be censored too. because censorship is a slippery slope and a fascist tool. I promise you there are people who think “why do tags for queer love even exist on ao3? they’re grooming children”.

if you allow the things that you hate to be censored — because someone with enough power gets to control what other people can and cannot create/consume, it will not stop at the things that you hate.

I’ve come across multiple people calling out fics with topics like incest and/or rape with the following sentiment: “I don’t feel comfortable with my trauma being portrayed/treated like/romanticized like that. They’re using my trauma as something to get off to.”

Is there a way to address callouts about your fics like this without invalidating their trauma?

yes, tell them:

“I’m sorry about what happened to you. but no matter how tragic your story is, the world does not revolve around you. people — strangers — don’t have to censor themselves in order to cater to your personal comfort.

if you don’t like something or are triggered by something, and if you go out of your way to seek those things, so you can be triggered by them, then that is entirely on you. no one forces you to read what you don’t want to read.

not to mention, a lot of victims and survivors use dark fiction to help them cope and heal from their trauma. just because dark fiction does not help you heal does not mean you have the rights to invalidate how other victims and survivors heal from their own trauma.

and just because you personally are triggered by dark fiction does not mean you have the rights to force other people — whether or not they themselves were victims — to censor themselves in order to cater to your personal comfort.

that is not how freedom to create works. that is not how the world works.

again, the world does not revolve around you.

what happened to you is terrible, but it does not give you the rights to be entitled, it does not give you the rights to harass or shame other people who are just minding their own business, people whose actions do not harm anybody in real life in any way, shape or form.

it is your job and your responsibility to curate your own internet experience by blocking, muting, filtering out what you don’t want to see.

you do not have the rights or the power to control how other people create their art.”

Nightpool doesn’t remember life before Field Colony. She knows she wasn’t born in the Southern Base’s cave, but her first memory is opening her eyes and seeing the beautiful cave paintings she would later learn was called the Legacy Weave and everything around her smelling of minerals, herbs, and other cats. Most importantly, she knew she was warm and dry. 

And soon after she awoke, she got her first bite of a fresh kill. Something in her brain rejoiced at how fresh it really was. This place was new and different…but new and different from what? No matter how she tried she couldn’t remember.

As time passed, Nightpool spent less and less time trying to remember. It took a while to get used to being around so many other cats, but she soon found that she actually enjoyed their company. The feelings of Mistysnow licking dust from her fur, Spottedshadow bumping her head with hers and purring a warm greeting, Timberleg and Lilyfire inviting her to play their games. How could she have ever lived without them? 

When Nightpool became a Ranger, she did feel the call for a little solitude from time to time. There were just things that the rest of the Colony didn’t understand. They were her family. Her home. But sometimes it didn’t feel like the feeling was mutual. How could they ever understand just how much they meant to her?

Running into Catcher and getting so deep into a relationship with him hadn’t been something Nightpool really planned on, but it felt nice. Nice to have a relationship that was only hers. And when she knew she was going to have kittens, the idea of having a real family of very own made up for any of her doubts.
