Coining Post
Miserably makes the coining post we were probably meant to do like two years ago or something. We have a lot of gatekeeper subtypes due to our gatekeepers specializing due to how quickly the gatekeeper:sysmember ratio went out of control and our system's requirement that all clusters have atleast one overseeing gatekeeper to prevent intercluster fighting or infighting.
Packet/s A fragment that acts as a mask on top of an alter, to prevent them from behaving in certain ways and keep them inline with a type of behavior. Packets can carry normal fragment behaviors [ex: disjointed emotional responses] but primarily act as a safety trigger to prevent an action or state from being visible, such as masking autistic traits. This can take pressure off of the system member fronting or cause strain on them. [Similar terms: Shell]
Neo- Used to describe an alter that formed after a system's syscovery, who have never known life as a singlet and are adjusted naturally to being part of a system. They may have a different relationship with being a system to members who have a sense of singlethood from before syscovery. They also may have more integration with the system or more familiarity with it's mechanics. Downstream/Upstream Originating from an early alter that has since split but also retained a trend of identity through most of those alters. This is good for describing partial doubles or systems that form in a a forked/tree branch pattern. If "Mary" has a bunch of people who look like her who formed from stuff that happened around her, they would all be downstream of her. Outerplane/s A section of the Innerworld which is similar to a dormancy hub. This is a null/void section which stores dormant or unconcious fragments. It could look like a liminal library, a star filled void, a white space with paper or a hallway with tables. An Outerplane has all of the following criteria: -Minimal visual components -An object or thing representing fragments -Unable to be reached by most systems due to being a level above the innerworld meta of the system. Union/s Innerworld alliances between members with a certain role to enact certain changes across clusters/sisasystems/sidesystems, Caretaker Unions may try to enforce regular teeth brushing, Protector Unions may cooperate to prevent something from occurring. Role Unions will vote of decisions or back spur of the moment calls. There is an understanding of who is and isn't in the roles union, either through interpersonal conversation or physical ledgers of membership.
Gatekeeper Sub-Types
GardenKeeper A GardenKeeper is responsible for the sub/unconcious of the system. This includes dormancy, dreams and subconcious trends. They can control dream scenes, terminate dreams or wake up the fronter and report back to other system members on the status of dormant system members. GardenKeepers are typically dormant or close to it but can control their own presence in consciousness easily. HearthKeeper A HearthKeeper manages emotions/holding in other system members. They can help calm or pause breakdowns and shift the burdens of events or disorders amongst other members. They can also create and store traumas/disorder holding/emotional reactions in a fragment or subsystem to delay processing for later. They may also function as a caretaker while doing so. FateKeeper A GateKeeper who works with alters to help adjust their sense of purpose or life goals. They can shift members in and out of front easily but primarily their goal is correcting no longer functioning drives/roles in system members in systems where these things are inherent to an headmate and can cause dissonance when outgrown. RogueKeeper A persecutor or protector gatekeeper who's morally/inter-personally unaffiliated with other gatekeepers goals. RogueKeepers have capacity to tamper with memories, change fronter and invoke dissociation. The deciding factor of a RogueKeeper is their willingness to misuse Gatekeeper abilities to act against other gatekeepers or non-gatekeepers. Essentially; They have gone rogue from otherwise negotiated democratic processes. Networker A Gatekeeper who interacts with the system through an internal computer system. They run their actions as functions in internal code and do not need proximity to interact with system members. They can have any skills of other gatekeepers or can be loaned skills [system admin privileges] by other gatekeepers. A networker sits behind front and monitors for issues and flags issues for other gatekeepers to handle. They can trigger a system freeze to resolve a system crash. Networkers may have access to a sense of internal data; such as the needs of the body, residual stress or system members who are able or unable to handle front due to personal stress loads.
Host/Fronter alternatives
Marathoner A system member who can front for over two days to a week without burning out. They take the role of host in larger systems as a stable figure. They are aware of fronting issues for their cluster/sisasystem/sidesystem and can be trusted to make educated decisions for that cluster or are aware they are making disliked choices. Sprinter A system member who fronts between marathoners during Marathoner Hiatus or when there is an irregular handover or niche skill need. They aren't required to be aware of fronting issues but are more aware of innerworld issues or cluster/sisasystem/sidesystem drama. A sprinter has less tolerance for long periods of fronting and will typically either cycle with other sprinters after two hours or burn out after a day. That is all of them! [Hopefully]. Gods. -Rune, Karma Cluster [they/any]
