your magic effects are so glamorous (!!) I'm a big wizard fan and I really delight in the majesty and awe of your pieces,, it's such a sight Whats your favorite trait to capture (?) whether it's a certain kinda magic visual or a certain kind of mood to evoke. I really like that piece with your bird standing under a wide blue sky with the reflected puddles-- it feels so Vast in a way that I would spend a paragraph fawning over were this not an anon inbox msg.

OMG!! Super flattered thank you! There's a lot I want to say about magic and what inspires me about it in how it is presented but to keep it short a major influence to the way I want spells and casts to be represented is the way that magic is represented in animation but specifically fighting game animations.

So I guess my favorite trait to incorporate is a sense of movement (Love putting magic trailing behind a moving staff or hand!) Even if it's not going anywhere, having a clear pose has a clear direct line of action from caster to the spell floating stationary is fun.

Really fun to show in drawings where Zerk the dragon is casting both because he is a novice and performative, and while I don't think its particularly showcased in the drawing with Mohn the falcon, the aftermath of the spell he casts have some remnants of that motion. The broken cloud wisps and feathers follow a spiral pattern into the sky that he just cleared.

I am constantly trying to improve and push both the poses of my characters and the detail of the magic being cast as well, but I think this all feeds back to the feeling of magic feeling mid motion and alive. I'll continue to learn about what makes magic portrayed in the things I like so magical! Thank you again for the ask, it gave me an excuse to geek out about all that!
