This man - Seojun, as she now knew, much to her displeasure - was really getting on her nerves.
Eunkyung knew that she had a short temper. There had been many times she wanted to yell at a patient or a relative, but she had, for the most part, restrained herself. That restraint did not always apply to her colleagues, however. She had alienated many of them with her inability to compromise, though it didn’t bother her that much. When things weren’t right, she tried to fix them - if they couldn’t handle that, it was too bad.
Despite her best efforts to reign in her anger, she grew more and more infuriated as they talked. Regardless of the reason, his attitude overrode any thought she had of trying to quickly end their confrontation.
“Oh, because greasing palms and making connections is ALL that matters at a medical conference. It’s not like we’re there to learn how we can better save lives, or anything foolish like that,” she scoffed. “And why would I apologize to someone who was obviously in the wrong in this situation?”
The barista coughed louder, trying again to interrupt, but Eunkyung ignored them, her voice continuing to rise. “After all, if you had any sort of spacial awareness, you would have known that you were in the way, and you wouldn’t have turned around the MOMENT I was next to you! So it’s technically your fault that any of this happened! But you want an apology? Fine.” Eunkyung plastered on a smile, just as fake as the one on the man in front of her. “Seojun, I am very sorry that you’re such an ass. It must be really hard to go through life knowing everyone hates you.”
Okay, maybe he’d worded that wrong. Seojun just wanted to learn how to be the best version of himself he could possibly be in terms of medical proficiency. This certainly meant that he wished to introduce himself to those who were the best at their fields. His intentions were somewhat pure if not laced with a little selfishness--he wished for his patients to be able to get the best care possible, and if this meant that Seojun had to kiss ass in order to do that then so be it. However, the little mushroom that currently glared up at him had ruined this plan for him.
“I was there for the same reasons as you were," He answered with a slight curl to his lip. She was beginning to grate on his nerves now, especially when he heard what came out of her mouth next. Seojun looked rather comical, standing there with his mouth agape as if he were a fish struggling for air. “I was wrong?” Like the woman before him, Seojun’s voice replicated her higher tone. His own was shrill as he reacted to her audaciousness.
The tips of Seojun’s ears and the apples of his cheeks grew warm with indignation. “You--I---” Lost for words, Seojun was floundering. Embarrassing, really. Not only to himself, but to those that looked on towards the dispute. “Not everyone hates me! Except you, apparently. And as for my spacial awareness, there is NOTHING wrong with it. You on the other hand, should make noise when you walk. It’s downright creepy the way you just... appear.”
A hand came to Seojun’s elbow, followed by a not so gentle warning. “I’m afraid I’m going to have to ask you both to leave.”
