Kilchurn Castle, Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Kilchurn Castle is a historic ruined castle in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, located on a rocky peninsula at the northeastern end of Loch Awe. It was built in the mid-15th century by Sir Colin Campbell of Glenorchy, the ancestor of the Earls of Breadalbane.

The castle served as a stronghold of the powerful Campbell clan and later became a military garrison for government troops in the 17th century. After being damaged by lightning in 1760, Kilchurn Castle was abandoned and gradually fell into ruin. Today, it is one of Scotland’s most photographed castles, known for its dramatic landscape and medieval history.
