As far as Reese was concerned, she had two advantages over the rest the chumps she’d be skating against. Number one, she did skate competitions every time Yen Sid’s held one, she was used to performing in front of a crowd and the feeling of countless eyes on her just didn’t phase her anymore. Number two was her natural lack of shame. If she ate shit, she ate shit. She get up, laugh it off, then go see if anyone wanted to grab a drink. Sure, she’d be disappointed, but not embarrassed.

Looking around, there were a couple here or there that might have one or the other, but she was liking her chances. There was a face or two she recognized from other competitions, but they were all too damned serious. Took all the fun out of it. She’d rather spend her time waiting by bothering the skinny fucker sitting off by himself. After all, they were repping the same place, didn’t that kind of make them teammates?

“Sup, loser?” Plopping down on her board, hands over her knees, Reese grinned up at him as she wait for her ‘teammate’ to acknowledge her presence.

Skateboarding was one of the few things from his past life he could really indulge in. One that he could actually remember before shit flew south. It calmed his anxiety and it was, above all else, familiar. And maybe a lot of things had changed since his early teenage years, but he still loved to show off on the board. It was one of the few times his confidence really shone through.

He’d stopped to text a few of the Lyoko ‘warriors’ to ask if any would join him, sitting on the edge of a wall with one leg hanging and the other bend and pressed on his perch, chin resting as he waited for texts back. He’d heard her come over. His attention the the environment never really left after.. then, not unless he had the help of drugs.

“S’up?” he offered back, letting his hand with the phone hang and he glanced down at his teammate. Shit, right, he had to interact with people outside ‘the group’. “I’m not slacking, I promise. Just waiting for some texts back.” Some of these people were so serious about this shit. Probably why he only chose to take on skateboarding, but even this was so serious. // @prettyndpunk​

Resting her chin in her hand, Jinx raised a brow her grin inching down to a mischievous smirk. “Is that so? You should be more mindful of what you eat, William. Gotta keep those growing bones healthy and strong.”

Hm, she quite enjoyed this. William looking unsure and full of unease, just the discomfort of it all brightened up her day. Originally when she heard the news of him defecting, she thought he’d went up and died. In their line of work it made sense. But no, he ran.

On some small level she was genuinely curious about what he’d been up to out of the shadows. Jinx knew he worked as an engineer, but wondered if that was enough for a broken people like them. Was he trying to play good perhaps? “Sorry,” She batted her eyes innocently, smirk still remaining, “Am I keeping you from your meal?” // @xanabrokcn​

“Growing?” He scoffed, looking back up from his food. “I think I’ve done my dash on ‘growing’.” And, honestly, William was far from short. He’d always been a tall kid. Growing anymore was the least of his problems. Like people he didn’t trust who knew him back when.. he wasn’t himself.

The bat of eyelashes made him clear his throat though, his small moment of amusement dying in an instant. Nope. No he was not going to raise to the bait of flirting. “I’ll live,” he shrugged off, distracting himself with another bite of food. He didn’t want to be rude enough to tell her to go away, but he couldn’t help but hope she’d take a hint and leave. He.. didn’t want to have this conversation. Didn’t want to think of all the things he did when that thing was controlling him. // @jfc-jinx​

“I introduced myself to time,” Blossom repeats, amused at herself. That was certainly a high point in her life. There was more though, she knows it. She just cannot recall it! Barter hasn’t shared any details except with Bonna so now she has the two of them giggling at her. 

A pout forms on her lips, she looks at him childishly. It’s different from how she normally carries herself, Blossom looks softer around the edges. More approachable. “Now whenever I look at a cookie, all I can smell is weed. The memories just come flooding back. It’s a curse. Plus I don’t know how anyone stands the crash afterwards. Once I sobered up, I was starving and dying of thirst.” // @xanabrokcn​

Blossom sounded down right hurt over the ordeal. Not that William could offer much more than a sympathetic ear and a promise not to laugh. Well.. of course he laughed at ‘introducing to time’, who in their right mind didn’t? At least he’d tried to be considerate about it!

“Oof, yeah, that’s a bummer. No cookies then. Well, still works for other things anyway. Brownies are usually the ‘go to’.” He couldn’t fix cookies for her, but he could at least help her prevent it from happening again. “You’re suppose to eat while you’re high. That’s why it’s famous for giving you ‘the munchies’. Not that you.. really need to know now.” // @blcsscmcd​

“Oh, hey, look what the cat dragged in.”

Jinx plopped herself down onto the available seat infront of William, a cat like grin on her face. The local deli was just finishing up the last few customers of lunch rush, which meant it was the perfect time to go and grab food without any worry of delay or a crowd.

Imagine her surprise when she spots William in the middle of his lunch. Can’t say the two were ever close, but certainly the two met and got along well enough when they had to do stunts together.

Well before he went and left anyways. “What’cha got there? Lunch special?” She eyed his food with mild interest. // @xanabrokcn

Some days, William almost felt normal. Like all the shit he’d done didn’t happen. Like all the horrors he’d suffered were nothing more than a bad dream. Sometimes he could sit in a Goddamn deli and act like a normal citizen going about their normal less fucked up lives. Those moments of peace were so fragile, and so easily shattered. 

Right now, watching the woman claim the seat across from him, it was like a sledgehammer to that fragile bliss and sense of okay. Suddenly his sandwich tasted dry in his mouth..

“Oh, uhh, curried eggs and salad,” William answered awkwardly, glancing down at his food. “Figured I’d eat.. actual food for once in my life.” // @jfc-jinx​

“I’m surprised he never changed it. I imagine he must be tired of the jokes by now,” If there was one thing that knowing Yang had taught him, it was that any name could be used for a joke. If he heard “every now and Ren” one more time… he would probably do nothing, it wasn’t worth getting worked up over. Still, with a name like that, this man’s friend must have been an easy target.

“You’ve never met Odd.” Like something like that would ever deter him. People just.. accepted that he was strange, and the name simply fit too well. It wasn’t surprising at all. “Besides, a name change is a big thing. I don’t think he’s going to go through the trouble of changing it because some people might get a few jokes out of it.” // @what-d0es-the-sl0th-say​

“Someone,” A frustrated and defeated sigh made its way past her lips, “I was with friends and they were passing around cookies. I didn’t think too much of it when I was offered one.” How was she supposed to know they were laced with weed-though maybe it was her fault for not being more observant. “I took one and then….” Waving her hand around, she made a noise that screamed ‘everything kinda went.’

“I don’t remember much of what I did or what I said-I know at the very least I wasn’t…. annoying.” She hoped. Blossom didn’t know what she was like when she was high, she knew she was loopy and silly and that was the extent of it. “I remember being tired though… and something about introducing myself to time.” // @xanabrokcn

“Ahh, well..” William was probably guilty of the same kind of thing, sharing around the ‘good stuff’. Still, with the company he kept, they all knew damn well what was in those brownies. At least.. he hoped they did. “That was pretty shitty of them.” Honestly, he didn’t know what to say to her. How to make this better. Should he apologise? Wasn’t like he was the one to give her the cookie. Should he try to reassure her that it wasn’t that big of a deal? No, she seemed pretty messed up over it. Damn it, he wasn’t good at this.

“Wait what?” William tried not to laugh, really did, but he couldn’t keep the slight chuckle out of his voice. He did some stupid shit when high too, he had to admit. Still, that one was new. “Okay but.. uhh.. you can usually smell if there’s weed in food, if that helps in the future. Especially if it’s ‘home made’ or they tell you it’s ‘a special recipe’.” // @blcsscmcd​

Cora stood with her back against the counter, polishing in the inside of a jar that she had only recently sold the last loose tabacco out of. She smiled, true as ever, glad to be able to make a living in beautiful years such as these and she nodded as an almost stranger walked through the doors of her establishment. 

“What can I do ya for?” The smiled stayed on, glued into place or something, as the woman moved to lean forward against the front counter, continuing to wipe the inside of the jar. “Got the best cigars on this side of the Tin Pan Alley. Need a decently priced pack of Lucky’s? I’m the best you’re gonna find.” It was the spiel she gave most times a newby walked through her doors, but hey, sometimes to shoot the shit with the old folks, she throw it in a time or two for them. 

Black coat and face obscured with a wide brim hat, William had made his way through the streets, eyes always peeled for cops. For competition and clashing mobsters. His hand never strayed too far from his gun, people parting as he walked to give a wide birth. Even unrecognised there was an air of unease around the man.

Slipping into the shop, William lifted his hat, eyes locking on the woman behind the counter. Her friendly smile was met with a blank face, eyes hard and cold as he approached her. He didn’t care for her spiel or her all too friendly front. Didn’t care to try and match it either.

“I’m looking for someone,” William told her simply, ignoring her questions as he slid a picture towards her. It was of a pretty dame, unaware of the her photo being taken, a cigar lifted to her lips. “Apparently, she comes here for her decently priced Lucky’s too. When was she last in?” // @littlewccd​

Sure there was the current pressing issue, but Alma genuinely couldn’t quite bring himself to feel anything other than interest. “You really know how to sweep a dead guy off his feet, huh?” William laughed off nervously. Before he died, he use to be good at this flirting and conversing. Why the hell was this so hard? Alma gazed at him with his same unwavering expression etched within his steel toned eyes. The gears in his head turned for a moment as he pondered to himself.  A gentle smile graced his lips as he let out a small laugh.  “Why are you apologizing exactly?” He questioned, curious of the response that he would receive. Alma was always rather hard to read, at least that is what he had heard time and time again. No one was to really know what went on inside that mind of his, aside from himself of course. For the moment at least, something even he couldn’t quite hide was that he was utterly intrigued so far by the gentleman beside him. He was curious to say the least. // @xanabrokcn​

“Kinda hard to suck the life out of the dead,” William answered simply, lowering his arm. He didn’t go into it past that. Didn’t explain that he’d been drawn in by one of their kind before and left as.. this. Some shell of himself. 

“I’m kind of just.. wasting your time.” Chuckling nervously, William reached up to rub the back of his neck. He didn’t feel it though. He never felt anything anymore. “It’s, uhh, flattering though.” Terrifying too, but William hoped this one wasn’t like his attacker. // @almafudoh​

Alma held a charming and welcoming smile on his features as gentle caressed his next victim’s cheek.  He hated this. Despised it even. He loathed what fate dealt him, but he had to survive somehow. Thus, sacrifices had to be made. It wasn’t something that brought him pleasure. He had no connection to these people he bedded unlike the likes of his past and only true lover… But if it was meant to keep him alive, he couldn’t refute it. Leaning in closer, he noted that the person seemed rather entranced already. “You truly are a beauty words could never do justice to..”

The man was.. charming, honestly. Attractive too. And, hell, William might even be flattered. Really flattered, actually. He’d always been the type of sucker who fell in love far too fast. Infatuation. A stupid and useless romantic who believed in things like ‘love at first sight’ and other ridiculous notions. But, Gods, physical contact was another thing entirely. For two major reasons;

One, it ate away at his anxiety. The barely there feeling of touch made his stomach clench, and William swallowed thickly.

Two, he was dead. So very dead. 

“I don’t.. think I can help you,” William offered nervously, raising an arm as his body flickered and faded for a moment into a black smoke.

Being a hopeless romantic really had been the death of him.

No it didn’t help! Blossom never wanted or planned on being part of the statistic! Blossom was going to live her life free of drugs and alcohol because she wanted to live that way. It was fine for others, but Blossom never wanted any of that. The only drugs she partook in was either medicinal for health reasons or her E. That’s it! She reached up pressing a hand to her heart, in an effort to ease the tightness there. 

“I was fine-I think,” Her expression pinched trying to recall specific details, “Someone gave me an edible and I managed to find my way to my sister’s place. I can’t remember anything that happened in between from getting to Point A to Point B… But from what I was told I was just very out of it.” // @xanabrokcn​

William noticed the way Blossom’s hand raised to her chest, and William was terrified she was about to have a damn heart attack on him. She wasn’t on drugs now was she?

Well that was at least relieving. She’d been in a better situation then... pretty much every experience he had with drugs. Though pot was one of the lightest ones out there. But, for some reason, she seemed pretty upset about the whole ordeal. “Well, hey, at least you had your sister.” That had to make it a bit better, right? “I’m sorry. That’s shit. Do you know who gave it to you?” // @blcsscmcd​

She smiles regardless, “You and me both. No one wants me out in the snow in first place honestly.” A dejected sigh makes it way past her lips as she takes another long sip of her smoothie. No matter who she turns to, everyone is cautious of her being out in the cold weather-even if her job demands it! She knows where their concern is coming from, but it’s not as if she’s that fragile. “They probably think I’m going to somehow end up freezing out there.” 

“They should be doing a lot of things, but when everything falls apart at the same time it’s kind of hard to prioritize what needs to be done first.” // @xanabrokcn

Listening quietly, William watched the woman as he slowly took a sip of his own drink. It wasn’t exactly what he was use to, but it was nice and sweet. “That’s rough,” he speaks around his straw, eyes flicking away again. “Sorry to hear that. But, hey, you’re out here anyway, right? And no one’s stopping you.” He didn’t know why people didn’t want her out here, but that was her business. He preferred people didn’t butt their nose into his issues, so he wasn’t going to start on someone else.

“True,” he mumbled, lowering the drink. “Everything’s a mess lately. Whoever’s doing all this.. I hope they get nabbed soon.” // @xanabrokcn​

“I can’t say I blame you,” At least she’d started trying to get that younger boy to help out with her tests, Oscar? That was sure to help Jaune out in the long run. 

“His parents…named him Odd?” Ren liked to think he wasn’t one to judge, but that seemed like an awfully mean thing to do to a child. His childhood may not have been the most conventional, but even he knew how cruel kids could be to one another.

“Well, I don’t think his parents’ first languages were English. It probably didn’t mean the same thing.” He had to laugh at that one. No, he doubted any parent looked at their child and thought to call them ‘odd’ in that sense. “Just.. a perfect coincidence.” // @what-d0es-the-sl0th-say​

She pursed her lips, a disapproving glare on her face that melted away after a moment. She’d let him crack his jokes-for now. There was certainly worst jokes to be said, thankfully he wasn’t pushing it. Blossom let the heaviness in the air hang for a moment, stiffly nodding her head in acknowledgement to his thanks. Her shoulders dropped letting the issue pass.

“I got high for the first time some time ago,” Her voice became strained at the memory, her expression scrunching up in a mixture of regret and embarrassment. “I’ve indulged in drugs.” Clearly, she still wasn’t over it. // @xanabrokcn​

William swallowed back the knee-jerk reaction to laugh. To inform her that getting high wasn’t that bad. There was.. much worse drugs to take. He should know, after all. He’d tried nearly all of them. Though he supposed not everyone was as blasé about it as he was. If she was traumatised about getting high, well, he couldn’t laugh.

“If it helps, a lot of people try it at least once.” It probably didn’t help.. but it was a rather normal experience. “Were you.. around people you didn’t trust? Like.. were you okay?” How did he word that without sounding too nosy? // @blcsscmcd​

“Then maybe you need a hobby,” She suggested, biting her lip trying to think up more ways to help. This was one of her greatest strengths and greatest weaknesses. Blossom loved helping people, thrived on it, but she wouldn’t ever take no for an answer. She just felt the need to help and find some way to solve it. It was an inane drive she had and something she struggled with because sometimes you couldn’t solve anything. It was better than when she was younger, but something she still really needed to work on.

“Hobbies fix trauma?” William laughed, though it quickly died as he realised what he said. Clearing his throat, William dipped his head and looked away. “Sorry,” he offered, taking another bite of the bar to shut himself up. 

“Look, it’s... it’s fine. Please don’t apologise. But a hobby isn’t going to help and.. I don’t think you can understand.” It was a simple as that. No one outside the Lyoko warriors could understand what he’d been through, and he couldn’t even talk to them about it. Not when he was the cause of so much of their trauma too. “Subject change?
