my favourite Gabriel Reyes headcanon is that he was always that Dramatic™ and just kept that shit on lock because he’s super distrustful, and then when everything went to shit he needed a persona and was like yes. now is my time. and most people don’t make the connection between Reaper and Reyes because who would have ever thought that the hardass, no-nonsense soldier would come back to life as “basically the phantom of the opera, but with a gun”
