Begin Again x Mockingjay AU.

Peeta had heard the news of Katniss's return through the grapevine. In fact, he really couldn't say that seeing as no one had actually told him, rather overheard it when some of the cafeteria workers were discussing it and giving him sad looks. He wasn't entirely sure what there was to be sad about, after all, he was being reunited with his love. He was thrilled. He made his way to District 13's medical wing as quickly as he could, surprised to find that it was packed with people. He pushed through the crowd and was stopped abruptly by Haymitch.

"Peeta, hang on a minute," the man said under his breath as he pulled the man aside.

"Why didn't anyone tell me? I have to see her," Peeta replied, brushing Haymitch aside only to be pulled back once more.

"No, you don't understand. You can't go in there."

"Watch me," Peeta said darkly, giving his old friend a look that showed the ultimate disapproval.

With that, the younger man shoved his way past Haymitch. He found more sad faces as he made his way to the window where he could see Katniss sitting in a chair, looking at the locket he'd given her during the Quarter Quell. She looked almost confused, if not sad. He turned and made his way to the double doors that separated him from the only girl he'd ever loved. He didn't understand why everyone was looknig at him that way. Ignoring them, he walked into the room.

"Katniss," he said quietly, letting out a relieved breath. "I've missed you."
