The dragon’s piercing eyes were now gazing directly at the half-esper. Altair wouldn’t be surprised if the other already had lost her fighting spirit like all before her had. Still, this one was an adult in esper and human terms, that’s what her flesh reeked like. If anything, the Paladin knew what anger she was in.
“I doth desire thee issue understandeth yond glory is just another name for greed,” Would she bother talking to them in a normal tone of voice or even proper English? Proper introduction earlier shown she was talking normally after all. “Thy Empire? Has one risen from the ashes of the last one already?”
Really, how long had she been sleeping? She was alive through the rise and fall of countless Kingdoms, countries and even a couple of empires here and there. So it was mildly surprising to see one rise again after just a century gap of when the last one, the Ashen Glory empire, had been razed down by Altair.
Call it the hatred for humanity that all Fatalis shared, but for Altair it was more duty than responsibility. She lead the Great Dragon War in the very distant past, something that was only regarded as myth nowadays, so she felt like any race that got too powerful, too confident, needed a step back.
Now to hope she wouldn’t have to eradicate this empire either.
“Think of it this way, killing me means you get to wear my armor and wield my weapons too.” Hence her summoning the White Shield and the Fatalis Sword, both hovering at her side and radiating with power. “You would get to make armor out of my scales too and could call yourself a God, but I rescind. Taming me is not something my pride allows, so I hope you are prepared to die.”
“Really, I did say earlier this isn’t for my glory. I’m just doing what my empress wants, even if she does tend to be a pain in the ass.” She pointed out. And indeed, had she been an ordinary, full fledged human, then she would have already be intimidated, if not, outright frozen in place when the other had gazed directly at her.
“The empire I am a part of grew and expanded in great lengths, yes. Arose from the failures of the previous? That, I can say.” Was her reply. “This is also why I follow that empress of mine, even if she does tend to be unreasonable and a pain. She knows what she’s doing, that I can give her.”
A pause, as she would then hear Altair out, with Cerise crossing her arms at that, too, only really raising an eyebrow when the other had brandished a set of weapons in front of her, hovering at the dragon’s side and the like.
“I’m going to have to pass on the weapon and armor gist. Sounds to sweet of a deal. Too sweet for my liking.” She pointed out, before then sighing. Of course its going to be a matter of pride. “Then how about we settle it in a duel, then? I lose, and I’ll have the other troops fall back, and we’d never bother you again. I win, and you have to come with us. That sounds better than unnecessary bloodshed, is it not?” Really, always the pragmatic choice, it would seem.
