I'm really starting to get pissed off by the CRK fandom. I know I'm still a pretty new fan to this, but come on people. It's called building up to major plot points.
Cause one of the biggest things I've seen so many people complain about (with the recent updates) is that they keep introducing new characters and concepts and then just move on to new things. And while I admit some things could have been written better, I can still see that this is supposed to be building up to something more.
Okay, the most recent post has made me curious: what do you interpret Choco and Cacao's relationship to be like?
Oooh I’m gonna fumble the wording so badly
This is more so just headcanons than an actual canon interpretation ngl 🤷♂️
But I don’t think Dark Cacao wanted a child when he decided to make Dark Choco.
After losing his closest friends during the dark flour war (in one way or another,) and subsequently seeing two of said friend’s kingdoms fall to ruin afterwards, Cacao began to worry about how vulnerable his kingdom would be if anything ever happened to him. So he created the prince not because he wanted a kid, but instead so he could shape Choco into an heir worthy of inheriting the throne and ensuring the kingdom’s stability after Dark Cacao’s death (if that ever did happen.)
And being super depressed, anxious, and just generally not in a great state of mind after the dark flour war, he ended up rushing into this decision of creating an heir the second he determined it would benefit the kingdom.
And it just doesn’t really comprehend fully until he’s holding his son for the first time and feeling an awful lot of guilt- because he doesn’t believe he’s capable of being a good parent to this child he just created. His decision to have a son wasn’t a choice made out of love. Dark Cacao saw it as selfish, and the guilt manifested in him distancing himself.
Dark Cacao still cared about Dark Choco he just couldn’t bring himself to connect with him in any meaningful way.
So Choco grew up wanting his father’s attention, always striving and pushing to be the best he could be because then Dark Cacao would have to acknowledge him outside of the rigid, formal pleasantries expected between the king and prince of a kingdom. He never did though. And Choco’s admiration and respect towards his father soon fizzled out into mild bitterness more than anything. Especially as the kingdom’s condition slowly worsened due to Cacao’s flawed ruling methods.
Yada yada one manipulative cursed sword later and that pretty much brings us to the current state of their relationship
Post awakening Cacao has come to terms with his shortcomings as a parent and wishes for a chance to atone for his mistakes and form a real familial bond with Choco.
Meanwhile, Choco has slowly forgiven Cacao, but he’s finally found a shaky sense of freedom after years of feeling boxed in by whatever role the narrative forced him into. While he holds no ill feelings towards his father, he’s reluctant to let him be a part of his life again.
Anyways…
DEVSISTERS!!! MAKE DARK CHOCO RELEVANT AGAIN AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!!! 🗣️🗣️🗣️
The book is something I've wanted to do for a while. And is actually an idea that I've had since I was about nine! IDK what it's going to be called yet, though.
The CRK AU is going to be called "A New Witch" So... Yeah...
So as cute the current update is with all the wedding themes and what not, Black Forest Cookies story is actually kind of dark?
It’s pretty obvious that she’s grown up in St Pastry, meaning she’s spent her whole life praying to and worshiping the witches. And based on her behaviour in the current event, we can see that this devotion grew into complete romantic obsession.
And that’s really messed up.
If you’re in or have been in a religion, you can probably imagine how concerning it would be if someone in that religion became that obsessed with what you prayed to, especially to the point of wanting to marry them. Hopefully, this would be considered unhealthy and this person would be dealt with appropriately.
Unfortunately, Black Forest isn't being let down at all.
The leaders of St Pastry are ENABLING THIS. Even claiming that this behaviour is desirable and others should copy. Also Reverend Mother tells who she’s talking to that they’re “doubting” and “lacking in faith” for questioning Black Forest’s safety…the manipulation is crazy.
Also Black Forest’s devotion physically alters her form, becoming more monstrous. Scary.
The only other person we’ve properly seen from the St Pastry order is Pastry Cookie, who also isn’t doing great after what we’ve seen in the cake tower thing story. I vaguely also remember something with St Pastry order in cookie odyssey but I’d have to rewatch it.
I honestly really hope this is all building up to something dramatic, likely in the 5th anniversary, because I think that could be really cool.
(Little disclaimer down here, I’m not trying to attack anyone’s real world religion, just this fictional one 👍)
Having the ancients just hang out while Dark Cacao calms down was fun to draw but goddamn it took a while.
Still this one maybe my favorite so far. I had the idea a while ago of how the other ancients would react to Dark Cacao laughing. Theres a line golden cheese has to him thats like "I thought you didn't know how to laugh" so them reacting with utter bewilderment is funny to me.
